This resolved everything from the last book, which I was happy about, but I didn‘t expect to be so absolutely blown away - this is my favorite of the series thus far. I love Gamache, but I also like that despite his kindness, his brilliance, he is human and makes mistakes. It showed a whole different side of him and now I love him even more ♥️ #readyourkindle

Okay, so I‘d checked this out from the library, started it, and it made me so uncomfortable. Then, lovely @AmyG gifted it to me and I figured the universe must be trying to tell me to read it. I ended up absolutely HOOKED. Yes, it‘s SO CRINGY at times, and there are definitely triggers. I hated Doug with a passion. Just wow, this could easily be a favorite of the year for me.

How to describe this? Ultimately, I kind of loved it, but with reservations. I felt like there were too many storylines, and some of those weren‘t fleshed out enough. It feels like she tried to pack SO MUCH into the book but left out some important parts. That being said, I LOVE her writing and I love her characters. What does it say about me that some of Vera‘s “madness” made sense? 😂🤷‍♀️

As a former hospice nurse, I‘m very aware of unnecessary and often more painful medical interventions that hurt rather than help.
