This month, we turn our attention to the essential creatures that sustain life on earth. I hope there is lots to learn in this book. Invertebrates, insects, creepy-crawlies, whatever you call them, are not my strong suit. I'm looking forward to getting to know them and their world better. 🐜🪳🐞🦟🦗

Hi, tentative 👋
I'm slowly starting to feel better. February has been a tough month. All I've been doing is resting and reading. My daughter brought me snowdrops to cheer me up. A sign spring is springing. 🌞
I've got a lot of catching up to do.
Hi all,
Happy #Chatterday 😊
I'm going to have to check back with you all as I'm ill with an asthma flareup and chest infection. I'm sloping back to bed.
I hope you're all well and having a great weekend. X
My first read for #LBQTHistoryMonth2025 is the tagged. I LOVE it but didn't realise it was part of a series. If I wanted to read the other Green Creek books, would it matter that I've read #3
first?
I love this graphic from @QueerChameleon 🏳️🌈 Says it all really.
FYI
I'm not wishing to ruffle feathers re politics, BUT I've seen a lot of people struggling with current events on here.
Rebecca Solnit has launched a new website to post essays, content, and information regarding the defence of democracy. Remember #KnowledgeisPower

This book is one of the best feminist books I have ever read. Kendall exposes how marginalised women are excluded from feminist causes and how we must bring these women into the fold in order to claim feminism as an equality concept.
If you consider yourself a feminist, you MUST read this book. It will show you how you can do better.
I'm really getting a lot out of reading my sociopolitical books from my #Roll100 list. It's making me feel better about the whole global situation atm, be that climate change, equality, AI, human rights, economics, or governance. There are people fighting back, educating, informing, documenting, and pushing for change. Some can be difficult reads but empowering for that. I highly recommend it.

My #HyggeHourReadathon has developed into an all afternoon, not moving from this spot. This is most definitely a 'calm and boring day'. 😊📚☕️🐈
I'm spending the day alternating between reading the tagged book and listening to #NaturaLitsy January read, What the Wild Seas Can Be. 🌊 🎧
For the actual hour, I'll be planning February's reads and journaling.

Our February #buddyread is VW's third novel, published in 1922, Jacob's Room. The main protagonist, Jacob Flanders, is revealed to us through the opinions of other characters. This is considered an important text as VW moves away from conventional plot driven fiction to a more experimental, modernist way of writing.

Anyone have any tips on sorting an eczema flareup? The only plus side is I get to do bandage wraps and look like a Scooby Doo villan. The best bit is chasing the kids (teens) round the house for a hug, shouting ,'But I'm your Mummy.'

I could never get into audiobooks when younger. What a young fool I was. 😅
Obviously, with age comes wisdom, as I have now tripled my reading time and discovered some amazing productions. Andy Serkis narrating The Hobbit was perfection.
Do you remember me raving about The Fox Wife last month? I was seeking out Yangsze Choo's books, and this is even better. Only with ghosts instead of foxes.
It's set in 1890s Malaya, it's heavy on folklore and spirit culture, but this adds to the tension of the story as Li Lan navigates adulthood and her future prospects.

Well, this was a terrifying read for my sociopolitical theme. Kashmir Hill is a NYT journalist investigating Clearview AI. This facial recognition platform claims a 98.6% accuracy rate, with over 50 billion facial profiles, harvested from all public websites.
Highly recommended as it's important we realise what these companies are doing and the consequences of their product.
