Foggy morning after a night‘s rain.Tulips closed up for the night.Low 70s predicted but no sun.Wondering what makes them open?Temperature?Sun?
There is the rapid tapping of a woodpecker at work- she must be in one of the tall ancient Maples that line part of my driveway, because her tapping is LOUD.A chorus of birdsong has begun. A silent runner passes by.I love celebrating early mornings on my porch. #porchlife
#coffeeandbooks Book mail arrived.
It‘s clouded up & the sun has fled, but I am enjoying a late afternoon read on my porch.
We visited a tulip farm in Preston, CT & had our pick of tulips.Ten with the price of admission. There were 3 of us so we left with thirty gorgeous blooms. They make me happy! 🌹🌹🌷🌷

Friday night read. #libraryfind I have a dilemma. Libraries are like bookstores to me. I come home with way too many books to read! My dilemma is that I have so many books in my TBR & yet I keep getting more library books to read. Then I feel like I need to read them because they have a time limit. What‘s a reader to do?!!
On a light note, Taylor Swift & her newly released music was reverberating all over the HS today.💃🎼🎸🎹💔❤️

#serieslove2024 #16 in Commissario Guido Brunetti mysteries.Another achievement of complexity!
Brunetti is called out of bed in the middle of the night to question a senior pediatrician who was attacked during a home invasion. His 18 month old son was snatched away.
What Brunetti uncovers is a story of infertility, desperation,& illegal dealings.Meanwhile his colleague, Vianello,is following a line of inquiry regarding pharmacies‘ irregularities.
We were watching Amanda Gorman talk about her life & perform her poetry in our freshman class today. Our students were mesmerized & immersed in discussing her work. This recent collaboration between Amanda Gorman & Jan Volger( playing Bach on cello)is stunning.

When I started this book,I immediately wanted to bail.Nahid, the narrator has just been diagnosed with cancer. She came across to me as a despicable person-angry,nasty, to her daughter & those around her.But something pulled me back into her story & I am so thankful I responded to that pull.As her life story slowly emerged,as she struggled to understand her journey herself & cope with her diagnosis,I began to feel empathy.A refugee of the Iranian🔽
Perfect book for #naturalitsy.A library find,it has a little bit of everything:magical realism, romance, storytelling, witching of the best kind.Three sisters have inherited family gifts: Sage communicates with & heals plants.she can marshal them to do her bidding.Teal can use emotions to affect the weather-when angry, thundering & lightening storms, the dead Skye tamed animals such as bears. How do they use these gifts?Love, family, loss are themes.

My suggestions for #CampLitsy24
—The Cemetery of untold Stories because I enjoyed her previous books & the whole concept of the book fascinates me.
— The Swans of Harlem- to learn more about the lives of these special women- intrigues me
— There‘s Always This Year- on Basketball and Ascension — I love basketball - on basketball & storytelling
— The Hunter - Tana French‘s novels/thrillers are engaging, at times disturbing, unique characters

- Epigraph from tagged book
-my 2 pets, Em & Pie sleeping with me as I read
- discovered tagged book during library visit today
- blue flower planted under Magnolia tree
- picture of my son I found this week in a box, when he was at about 20 months - still a nature boy (man).Just had to share his adorableness!
This cover (library book) while not as colorful/ beautiful as the other posted with @TheBookHippie ‘s discussion questions, is sparse with gray to green hues which seems representative of Zorrie‘s life so far. “out of this shadow, into this sun” epigraph, says it all. Just loving this book.

This book redeemed my last experience in the series.
I walked with Brunetti along Venice‘s cobbled streets & narrow alleys. We glided over canals & raced in water busses. We drank coffee & wine in its bars.A curmudgeon owner of a Murano glass making factory threatens the life of his environmentalist son-in-law because of his political stance. Then a night watchman in his factory dies under mysterious circumstances.Brunetti looks into both issues.
It took me a month to read this harrowing & beautiful “biofiction”.I had to put it down at several points,as evil in the past & present merged.I resumed reading when I recovered & felt strong again.
A must, must read.
#generationaltrauma “ I carry within me, inscribed in the very cells of my body, the memory of an experience of danger so violent that sometimes I think I really lived it myself, or I‘ll be forced to relive it one day.”
Please read!

How many times in history did this happen? According to to the author, beginning with Reformation, libraries were decimated by varying religious groups, with the intention of burning “controversial texts.” There are lists of these books.available today.“ Femina” was the category that destroyed female texts were cataloged under. I am reading the into- so much to digest on every page!
