Crazy New England weather in CT this week. Gray clouded sky one day, then a brief appearance of the sun another day- magnolia tree bud, star hyacinth, now snow Friday & today! So so happy Litsy is working today-“Where books make friends.” Friday I missed everyone!
#2 in the #decoupagemystery series. This time the ending, the “ who dun it” took me by surprise. Lots of information in the world of decoupage & a little romance.Friendship & found family themes.#serieslove2025 #audiobook
This is what I woke up to this morning! Only in New England! Happy Friday everyone! ❄️❄️❄️
3 favs: Lady Bird, Selma, The Black Panther
1) magnolia & star hyacinth
2) my family, my staff team at work, my kitties
#gratitude #WondrousWednesday
We finished Night today at work.Planning to have the students watch the movie The Book Thief to wind down to our spring break, which begins on Friday. Witness is a perfect complement to Night.
Gideon Oliver is awarded a Fellowship to Germany, Spain, Sicily, & Holland. What appears to be a dream trip becomes a horror movie as men with intent to kill him are lurking in the shadows. As he has beaten & pursued across Europe, he uses his wits & skills in forensic anthropology to discover just what exactly is going on.Spies & counter spies & a new love interest add spice to the mix. #GideonOliverMystery #serieslove2025
My plans for #hyggehourreadathon
#Chatterday
Despite the pouring rain, I enjoyed a wonderful #chatterday today. Met a friend for coffee who now resides between CT & FL- our friendship dates back to early preschool days of looking for services for our Autistic sons.💜💜💜 Afterwards I browsed my local Indie bookstore & B & N, treated myself to lunch, then came home to book mail. I did just throw in a wash…
Todays #bookhaul
At my local Indie store I bought The Story She Left Behind,Anne Frank, 75th Anniversary Edition, & The Feminist Reader. At B & N I bought A Bird in Hand,& 2 lovely blank books with colorful prints on edges(at top of this stack),an appropriate bookmark, & NYC Central Park”A Walk in the Park” magnetic bookmarks,#bookmail brought me Letters of Note & James Baldwin. I am sad as these last 2 books are my final ones from Blackwells.
#4 in this series earns a So-So from me.Too much Pub crawling, & drinking. Despite this, a rather chilling plot.#serieslove2025
Maybe I need a break from this series!
A peaceful demonstration against nuclear power turns violent and ends with a police officer dead. Superintendent Burgess, whose interrogation tactics are intimidating & brutal, is sent in to head the investigation. Banks tries to work around him to maintain his positive relationships & solve the murder. Add an ex-hippie community, twists, turns, & a surprise ending & we have another series winner. #serieslove2025 #3

From the fabulous Louise Penny‘s April Newsletter: Today I signed up for the B& N virtual discussion of The Black Wolf (includes the book). Her last book tour(11/1,2) venue is at the Haskell Free Library & Opera House, straddling CA & US, at Rock Island, QC/Derby Line, VT. There will be tickets for 200 Canadians & 200 US citizens. Virtual tickets will be available 4/15. I am beyond excited!
Hectic crazy morning, meetings, teaching, & as is often the case, the totally unexpected pops up. Finally, a lunch time breather with coffee and a book. 🍕☕️ 📖
What a game tonight! On to the Final Four in Tampa! 🏀💪🏻🎉💙
Two of my favorite Indie bookstores that I love are RiverBend Bookshop-2 locations, but I visit the West Hartford store as it is closer, & RJ Julia, also 2 locations but I visit the Madison store every summer & enjoy a lobster roll at a nearby fish restaurant. 📚🦞
My #hyggehourreadathon plans tonight.
Drink soothing cinnamon milk, peruse the catalog Divine Geometry ( seeing exhibit today), catch up on Murder on the Links with my kitties. Sublime.
A darkish totally gray cloud morning. Perfect for hot blueberry scone , clotted cream & coffee. Off to the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford for a cafe lunch & to view Divine Geometry: Islamic Art at the Wadsworth Atheneum.

Just an FYI for my fellow spring card swappers. Mine just went out in the mail today. Apologies- My health held me back but my husband got me to the post office today. Yay! In early April my family visits Wicked Tulips- fields & fields of countless varieties of tulips for the picking. A wonderful way to celebrate & welcome in the spring season. I can‘t wait! #springcardswap

Brooks‘ response to her husband‘s unexpected, untimely death is poignant, raw, searing, lamentable, heartrending. #storygraph #nonfiction

Tonight‘s before bed reading. Another detective novel mentioned by Evelyne Redfern in A Traitor in Whitehall by Julia Kelly.
Concussed, dazed, confused, with memory loss, Albert Campion is blundering around trying to grasp just what his Majesty‘s governments‘ momentous & weighty task is required of him, involving the number 15. I am blundering & dazed along with him.
Breaking alive.
It is not an easy assignment, being alive. Coming awake from the stupor of near-living that lulls us through our days, awake to the knowledge that on the other side of the neighborhood ICE trucks are handcuffing people and on the other side of the planet children are dying in gunfire, while outside the first birds of spring are singing and everywhere people are falling in love and in some faraway mountain village a shepherd is ⬇️
The language of stories. I am reading Witness along side our class reading of Night.

It‘s Wednesday but…
1)

Walk, in nature, in my community with other walkers
Face in sun
Garden
Family; sisters
Breezes
2) poetry, cozy mysteries, memoirs like Geraldine Brooks‘ Memorial Days
