I‘m about 55 pages in and I‘m already glad I picked this for my next read (should be studying but shhh). Short enough that I‘m going to breeze through this because I can already tell I‘m not going to be able to put it down. We have ghosts of the past, creepy gift boxes, moral dilemmas, oddities and a beautiful forest with old deep soul vibes. And The Edge of the World is described as my perfect escape from people (so far).

A month behind but starting December‘s #BOTM choice. Have heard pretty decent things about the audiobook so here‘s to another lit adventure for this month.

4/5⭐️ Always interesting to see another fan of Poe‘s take on The Fall of the House of Usher. This was a nice and quick read, under 200 pages and very easy to sail through if you‘re in a reading mood. I believe there‘s a sequel out there and from the cover I am sad to think about poor Hob.

I love this cover art and I love a good modern retelling of a classic tale. Hoping I enjoy this as much as everyone else has. 📚

4/5⭐️ - loved the first story by Sands, but I‘ve loved everything I‘ve read from her. The way she writes her characters makes it hard not to love them and I love how spicy they all are. I might have loved the second story following Cat and Bones more if I had ever read about their adventures before this. Loved the happy ending but found it hard to really get into their story.

I know it‘s after Christmas - but this has been on my TBR for a long time and I love Lyndsay Sands! Ready for something a little more steamy and exciting.

3.5/5 ⭐️ - I think I was expecting something witchy when I picked this book up, it was an average read for me so it took me a while to get through it. However, it was much better than other reviews lead me to believe.

The book follows a 13 year old girl named Emily who is a twin. It highlights the pains of growing up to realize life is not ever as simple as it seems when you‘re young and perhaps naive of the world around you.

Okay - this is my best FB Marketplace find to date and I thought some of you might appreciate it! This is a “This End Up” bookcase from the 80s/90s I snagged for $60! Not only is it 7 inches taller than me but it weighs almost as much and it‘s a BIFL piece! 😍

January‘s First Reads choice!

I took advantage of the Barnes & Noble sale over the weekend - a lot of hardcovers were 50% off online, so I ordered for pick up at my local store and grabbed a couple B1G1 paperbacks while I was there.

Unfortunately my dust jacket is really messed up on “The Curse For True Love” so I‘m headed back to exchange it this afternoon.

Even though I was up until 2AM and it was technically the 28th - I made myself hold off opening my #NLHS until after I took my license exam. If you need me, I‘ll be over here yawning, but happily enjoying some R&R now that I can table studying for a couple weeks.

Thank you so much @Marmie7 - I LOVED your wrapping paper! And am really excited to read these books. Also that candy bar has been calling my name all morning!

My favorite stocking stuffer - and probably one of my favorite authors to have discovered through Amazon‘s First Reads book program. I‘ve devoured a few of her book series, a couple of my favorites are the Spellbreaker Duology and The Numina Series.

This Christmas is definitely adding to my TBR shelf! I‘m so excited to read some of these books - how can I find the time?! I got these goodies in a secret Santa swap exchange. It‘s a cast iron tea pot and red velvet cake tea!

All in all I found this book a little misleading and was hoping for more of the “terror” in the “50 Terrifying Yuletide Tales from Around the World” cover description. It was fairly repetitive, but if you think of it as an introduction to winter/yule lore it‘s not a bad book. There are 50 entries, many with an illustration but they‘re all a broad summary lacking many details.

Cuddling up with the baby boy doing some evening reading. About 40 pages in, hoping it‘ll pick up soon.

Black Crouch hits another out of the park, this book was captivating and super immersive, I could hardly put it down during my New Mexico vacation this year.

I had no idea Trevor Noah wrote children‘s books! It‘s so cute!

Swear I‘ll finish this “light/short” read tonight, 40 pages down and about 30-ish to go!

Am currently playing Hades II in pre-release so it‘s really cool to be able to tie a lot of these mythical creatures to the games and the God‘s they are associated with!

I think I‘ve been reading this book on and off since May…and it‘s now October. 👀😂 I‘ve read a couple other books between then and now and still have only made it 100 pages into this. I do honestly love how it‘s written - it tells you a little about the mythical creature and then it tells you about the legend around it.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME - believe it or not, these were the only books I got for Christmas. I‘m so happy.

So I liked this book, it was good and I can understand why a lot of people said this was captivating and really stuck with them. I imagine that if this book had been out in 2018 it would have swallowed me whole. But I didn‘t really feel like it was as profound as it could have been and while it was good, it was a little lacking for me.
