I thought this was going to be a 4 or 5 star read at first. Then halfway through it ran out of gas and the end was just annoying. There is no way Doug would act the way he did at the end. I thought it was building up to a something big, but it ended with a whimper.
It was a page turner though and I did speed through it and there were a few really interesting moments to reflect on.

I‘m glad I stuck around because the story was interesting and I really wanted to know of Miss Froy‘s fate…or if she existed at all.
I must say I struggled with the writing style a bit. I have a question for everyone that I‘ll put in a spoiler below.
The movie was pretty different and I have a thought I‘ll put in the spoilers below as well.

Let‘s all stand in the cold with our backs to the camera and stare off into the snowy mountains.
Cold as Hell gets an honorable mention here as there are mountains beyond the forest, and I like the pop of color of the red coat.
The I cannot resist a weird vintage Christie cover. These two are from the 1970s. I picked them up at a used bookstore yesterday.
I like the tagged one (the next #christiescapers buddy read) but the bright red lips on the Taken at the Flood is a little off putting.

I did a little used book store shopping today.
The tagged book was .99!
On the other hand, the two Christies, which were .95 in the 1970s when they were printed, cost me $2.99 each. 🤷
I realized I haven‘t gotten an #aardvarkbookclub pick since November! I‘m always iffy on Jones but I said “Hell with it, maybe I‘ll like this one.” 😊 And while I‘m at it, I‘ll try out a monster romance. 🤪 You only live once.
And I skipped #botm again.

pickThis is now in my top three Wayward Children books. This one was delightful and sad, like most of this series. I 🥰🥰🥰 this series do much.
Check out these novellas, you won‘t regret it. McGuire/Grant is a must buy author for me.🥰

Does anyone have any recommendations for good romance books with a FMC that is over 40, (preferably no kids), no love triangle? I‘m not feeling any angsty teen or young adult story. Any subgenre is fine. Oh, and spice is okay!
