Books 9 & 10. Two funny and relaxing little reads with some great #bookblanket color opportunities.
My squares are a bit crooked and wonky, but I‘m hoping that this year long project will help me improve my crocheting.
Plus , that 💩 will block right out. 😹😹😹

kspenmoll The squares are lovely & I am sure they will improve with time. 4d
Larkken They look great! You're right, blocking does wonders. 4d

This is now in my top three Wayward Children books. This one was delightful and sad, like most of this series. I 🥰🥰🥰 this series do much.
Check out these novellas, you won‘t regret it. McGuire/Grant is a must buy author for me.🥰
My only complaint is that they are so short.
I like the way this #grannysquare came out for my #bookblanket2025

I just finished this fun cozy mystery this morning. It was a nice palette cleanser from thrillers and horror.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2
It was a slow start but I‘m glad I stuck with it.

And because I can‘t just do one thing…. I‘m jumping on the bandwagon.
In addition to Rebecca the knittted #booksnake, I‘m #crocheting granny squares in the colors of each book cover of the books I read this year. I‘ve always wanted a colorful scrappy granny square #bookblanket and I figured this was a great way to do it. #hookersoflitsy #bookblanket2025 #litsycrafters

Balibee146 Awesome.... I crocheted a little 40 years ago.... I tried to follow a YouTube total beginner granny square tutorial last week.... Lol... Didn't go well. These are lovely. 2w
ChaoticMissAdventures That is an amazing idea! How much fun! 2w
julesG Noooooo, why??? Now I want to make Granny Squares too. But I have seven (7!!!) works-in-progress lying around. 2w

MaleficentBookDragon @AmyG oh, I‘m not very good. I‘ve attempted crochet for over 40 years with no luck, but now I‘m starting get some things. And I enjoy doing it even if they don‘t look great. 2w
MaleficentBookDragon @Balibee146 I learned a lot from Fiber Flux on YouTube. @fiberflux?si=rpW9Z77Feze4CSer" rel="nofollow" target="_top">https://youtube.com/@fiberflux?si=rpW9Z77Feze4CSer 2w
MaleficentBookDragon @julesG I‘m right there with you. I keep wanting to start new things but haven‘t finished any of my wips. 2w
BookishMadHatter It's already looking great. I have a blanket started with granny squares using scrap yarn, one that's using cotton scraps thats Granny stitch and double crochet, and then my book blanket that I make doing one row per book based on length lol 2w
BookBelle84 I'm currently in a learn to crochet class just for this purpose! 2w
kwmg40 That's such a great idea! 2w
Amiable What a fabulous idea! I used to know how to crochet but have gotten rusty. I should take a class to learn again. 2w

Okay, I don't need much encouragement. 😆 Here's the latest progress pic of the #bookblanket. That's our queen size bed it is spread out on. Nearest the camera is the start of the year.

(Quick project description: for each book I read, I make a hexagon. The colour of the center tells you the genre, the outer ring tells you whether I bought the book this year, in 2017-18, in 2011-16, or got it from the library/other.)

@rabbitprincess TADA!

llwheeler It looks awesome! 5y

AnneCecilie That‘s so cool. It looks gorgeous 5y
ljuliel Great idea, and nice work. Are you going to quit at year‘s end, or keep going til it‘s the size you want? 5y
shanaqui Thanks guys! 😊😊

@ljuliel Just to the end of the year -- it's already a very good lap blanket, and I'm pretty sure with my projected reading speed, I'll get to a good size at the end!

They're not for me, they're for Norman and Hogglestock! Well, I'll read them while putting my feet up on him...?

The blanket is my #bookblanket! It's getting big, around 150 motifs. Shall I post a full progress pic?

rabbitprincess Yes to progress pic and YES! to more BLCCs 😄 5y

These books just make me laugh so. much.

Help me decide a #bookblanket thing, though! Should this book be just turquoise for fantasy, or turquoise/hot pink for fantasy/romance, now Kate and Curran's courtship is really getting off the ground? The previous books are just classified fantasy in the blanket. I do actually have a poll on Twitter: https://twitter.com/shanaqui/status/1148733448330387457 But comments with opinions works too.

shanaqui My feeling is that these books get pigeonholed as 'paranormal romance' when, yes, love is a serious and important element of the plot and characterisation, but it's not ABOUT the romance. Certainly I categorised the first two books as primarily fantasy, with no hesitation.

(The colour is chosen based on primary genre; if the genre mashup is particularly close, I use two colours. Two is the max.)

the-woman-who-read-everything I haven‘t read this one, but it sounds like it could go either way, so I say pick whichever option looks best in your blanket 😁🧶 6y

Finishing this up today after stalling on my reread for way too long. I find this series a little daunting somehow -- there's so many books, so much lore to remember!

First though, some more work on my #bookblanket. It now makes a good lap blanket... Or a poncho for Norman the Situponus. (That's that my dad calls these inflatable hedgehogs -- species name E. situponus.)

Today's focus, I think. Once I'm caught up with my #bookblanket... which I should totally update you all on with a quick progress pic. I actually got way behind on making motifs and joining them, so it should actually be bigger, but you'll definitely get the idea now!
