pickMy kind of book; a family epic. A rags to riches tale set in Sicily during Napoleon's time and the following revolution. I loved the imagery of the surrounding sea and town and the determination of the men in the family and the stubbornness of the women in their anger and love.
My only regret is that I realized halfway through the book that the Bourbons and the Neapolitans were the same people.

pickFirst off, trigger warning for diet culture and eating disorders, particularly anorexia. This book deals heavily with anorexia and the toxic diet industry, so please be aware of that. I thought the book did a good job exploring these two topics. I found all the discussion on the diet industry and how it is designed to fail to be so fascinating.

pickKrakauer was on an assignment to Mt Everest, to write an article for Outdoor Magazine. He joined a guide led by Rob Hall. A mix of weather, inexperience among climbers in the group, poor decisions and a lack of communication, mostly due to lack of oxygen, the trek became fatal.
