It's really neat to see the innovative ways Japan is striving to keep bookstores relevant in this digital era. Perhaps there are some strategies here we can lean into! https://www.japantimes.co.jp/culture/2024/04/22/books/bookshops-economy-japan-ji...

Now I can't get this song out of my head. If you haven't seen Tom Holland lip sync to this tune, you should. ☔️

This Greek comic follows Zoe, a baker, who decides to take time away from work to vacation with a guy she meets. My comprehension of what happens is a bit vague because some of the language was beyond my grasp, but essentially she ends up regretting her decision. The title refers to a scene where customers dreamily reflect about Zoe‘s absence from the bakery for so long. “The croissants are not the same…” I will reread this when I have more vocab.
This graded reader in Greek had quite a melodramatic story. The title asks “Who is A.M.,” and the story follows Katerina, a radio producer, and Manolis, a record store clerk, as they try to solve the mystery of who is threatening the singer Anna Vardi with death if she sings in public again… woah! Anyways, the format of the reader/supplemental materials were great and I learned some useful new words. I will probably reread this for practice also.

My joys this week are: Family, my large 4 legged girls, dinner out with my hubby, and getting a pedicure in the middle of the week.

#tlt #threelistThursday
1) Norwegian band Aha‘s Take On Me
2) Toto‘s Africa
3) U2‘s With or Without You
I was married in 1988 and the first two songs were prescient: I‘d marry a guy from Norway who spent half his life growing up in Zambia, Africa. When we met, U2‘s song was at the top of the charts and we both loved it so it‘s always been “our song.” Especially when he had to go back home to Norway after we met. So much ❤️ for these 🎶
#TLT
This was so hard to do!! I could have listed so many….
🎵With or without you U2
🎵Thriller Michael Jackson
🎵Crazy for you Madonna
Almost all of my Spotify is 80s songs, so it's hard to pick 3 favorites, so I just choose the ones that popped into my head first:
1. Don't Answer Me - The Alan Parsons Project
2. Rock This Town - Stray Cats
3. Turning Japanese - The Vapors
Thanks for the tag @Lizpixie

🎵 Don't Stop Believing by Journey
🎵 I Want to Know What Love Is by Foreigner
🎵 Another One Bites the Dust by Queen
I love music. I have more CDs than I do physical books. Therefore it is hard to choose just 3. Easily could be on list: Amanda, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore, Africa, Eye of the Tiger, etc.

I've never known a more affectionate dog 🥹💙
He is constantly licking my face, leaning on me on the sofa, and climbing onto my lap for cuddles. He thinks he's still that tiny puppy I brought home all those years ago.

I always read @Soubhiville when I see this in my feed on IG 🤍🤍🤍🤍
I love the Hingston & Olsen‘s Permanent Record series where they reprint important long form articles in a short run special edition book. This was previously a Macleans magazine article with an additional afterward ended about the issue of “Pretendians” (people claiming Indigenous ancestry) in positions at universities in Canada, to capitalize on institutional attempts at Reconciliation and Indigenous representation.
This book had a good concept but I just didn‘t feel the heat between Sebastian and Mia, especially enough to cause all the inner turmoil Mia experienced. Plus, Sarah was clearly uninterested. The end felt rushed and the catalyst wasn‘t set up enough to inspire. I think the characters needed more developing and there wasn‘t enough tension for this romance to work for me, but if you‘re looking for a romance with little drama this is the one for you.
Have a great day everyone ❤️
#wondrouswednesday Thanks @Eggs for the tag!
Obviously my immediate family for 1 & 2, but also:
1) My Grandpa Parker who made me feel special
2) My paralegal Elise who is ready to retire but is going to keep working very part time to help me transition to finding someone to replace her. She can‘t be replaced. 😢
3) Found family: the Sigma Force team in James Rollins‘ books or the Department Q team in Jussi Adler Olsen‘s books
I knew I listened to a lot of audio books but was still surprised at this recap. 💜🎧📖📘
This was an excellent addition to the series! As always, there is the seriousness of the crimes along with comedy from certain characters (Bob Hoon and DC Tyler Niesh). I hope the author is currently finishing up the next book because he left us with a crazy cliffhanger of an ending. #SeriesLove2023/2024 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView
Book 74/100.
Set in Voss, Norway the descriptions are beautiful. Maureen comes home from New York City as her father is dying to take over the family farm. Alex, a billionaire is escaping New York City from a girlfriend who is stalking him & the crazy media frenzy created by this to his family estate in Voss. The story between Maureen and Alex is funny & sweet. I loved the several twists in the story which were very believable.
