I think if I read this as a teenager I would have been much more impressed.

I couldn‘t wait for my physical copy to arrive in the mail so I listened to this in one day. I follow him on Instagram and plan to listen to some of his podcasts about ADHD this year. Latest school bookclub book. I listened to it. I picked the killer out at the beginning. A soft pick. #LitsyAtoZ Letter W @Texreader

+ I enjoyed reading the family scenes
+ Description of Venice was fabulous
+ I liked Commissario Brunetti and his interactions with the other characters (his children, suspects, his boss)

- I vehemently disliked the public prejudice of lgbtq. It implies a mother, identified as lesbian, could lose custody of her children
- (TW) child abuse
- Translation at times was confusing.

Really loved The Endless Beach. The Scottish Island of Mure, Flora‘s family and the community are all so lovely and well developed. I‘ve had this one for a long time and I‘m very happy I‘ve finally read it.

So much to discuss in this book - a great book club selection. Excellent sense of time and place - feels very realistic, if uncomfortable. Not necessarily an easy read, as there are several difficult, and even heartbreaking, things that occur. But ultimately, I think, a hopeful book.
