Amélie is expressing my opinion of the ending. An early novel, this shows the promise of what Cash will become. But it‘s not there yet. It does a great job of evoking its place, and I want to love some of the characters. But they‘re not totally believable. Still a good escapist read. This sweet story was a loose retelling of Sense and Sensibility, set in modern day Austin, Texas. I enjoyed it on its own merits, and after the first few chapters, forgot to look for similarities with the original. A light fun read, with enough surprises to give it some depth.

I haven‘t given myself much time to read one last book this month for #Nepal #foodandlit. But I need this book for #letterK for #litsyatoz. So at least I‘ll get it started in February

These really are such quick reads.
Like with the first book I feel the characters lack emotional depth and they feel much too young.
But the gripping adventure/trial and the cliffhanger ending makes me want to read the next book.

There's a lot of conflicting reviews about this one. But I quite enjoyed it.
Even with the slow start and Grady being a sulky, self-absorbed man-child.
The suspense and mystery of the Isle of Amberley kept me intrigued. It felt like a character on its own, with the residents being its moving parts.
And the twists.
I did not see it coming... at all.
