#SeriesLove2025 Detective Stilwell had a run in with LA county sheriff‘s department politics & is exiled to Catalina island. mostly doing nuisance policing till a dead body is found weighted down in the harbor. 1st bk , new series.As Connelly does , the place becomes part of the story. I want to see where it goes. People that live on the Island keep a car in Long Beach , for appts.& supply runs.already mentioned legendary 1920s LB bar, Joe Josts!

A quick novella by Linda Castillo. Disappeared has Kate Burkholder looking for a 2 year old that went missing during the night. I continue to love this series, which is a look at the Amish life and a Police Chief that left that way of life. I can't recommend this series enough.

I enjoyed listening to The Hazelbourne Ladies Motorcycle and Flying Club by Helen Simonson. It's set at the end of WWI on the seaside in England. I thought the characters were well developed. I loved Poppy and the way she stood up for women's rights. She was my favorite character in the book. This was my first book by Simonson, but it won't be my last.

Proof that I‘m a mood reader! I started this a few months ago and only read a few chapters before returning it to the library. This time around, I finished it in four days! It‘s 400 pages long and has some grim scenes, but it‘s ultimately a satisfying read.

If you‘ve read the first three books, you know Fin is kind of a jerk but has a good heart underneath his bravado, and this plays out here when his son is accused of murder.

This series has constant allusions, mentioning of novels, poetry, eclectic music which has led me to new discoveries. It‘s an added bonus to the understanding/enjoyment of DCI Banks, his moods, his emotional/spiritual life, his connections to his sense of” home”. Helen Keller is an enduring gift to us all. Hoping to start this tonight.
