The princess is cursed to die by a spindle, she is stolen away & raised as ordinary. But her fairy gifts cause problems, & there is still the curse to worry about.
The scene setting is unparalleled, as I expected from McKinley, but lord the plot is glacial. I think I would have enjoyed this better as an audiobook as the writing is lush & lyrical. & I wasn‘t invested in the romance. I kept thinking Rosie & Peony should get together.🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑
Not my favorite Conroy. The descriptions of Charleston were long-winded and boring; and quite frankly, annoying. But the story, oh man, what a story! It was compelling, ugly, thought provoking, gripping, and worth reading.

This is how #BookSpinBingo keeps me tackling my #TBR while the library holds keep coming in. #bookspin #doublespin
The writing is interesting but the story is boring me a little. I may come back to this one later. DNF
#roll100 pick off the TBR for now this was my #doublespin pick as well.
#bookspin #doublespin picks for April
I got highest rated and another pet pick. This time I had one of the cats pick.
What a fun (and informative) little astrology book!
I am a huge astrology nerd, so naturally I was very excited for this one.
I loved that the book opened up with a short introduction into astrology and briefly explained birth charts and houses (although the graphic for the houses has an error on the numbering).

Picked this up during the long (by British standards) car ride to Wales for my grandmother's funeral, and it definitely kept me occupied. I couldn't quite keep some of the characters straight, but it felt surprisingly like something that someone might write now, parodying the SF pulp era. Surprising small love: the (male) detective being very involved with his wife and child.
This was the #DoubleSpin! And this month's #BookSpinBingo card is made!
This is a gorgeously illustrated book about a young girl. Adara, who is a winter child that has a connection with an ice dragon 🐉

Gosh, this last week was an absolute mess, with one full night of multiple tornados and then two more toward the end of the week. I slept 16 hours on Sunday because I guess my body needed it! Now that I'm caught up on sleep, I can get caught up on Litsy too. Still finishing some lingering titles this month!
