A perfectly fine mystery where I knew the killer pretty much the whole time, yet was entertaining enough to keep going. There was some good writing in here, but the characters just weren‘t very interesting. 3⭐️

A well written sci-fi horror novella. Definitely recommend for someone looking for a unique creepy read that will make you never want to experience space travel. 4.5⭐️
Overall I enjoyed this continuation of the story of a fae researcher and her fae prince. 4⭐️
#bookspinbingo again!
Here is my tentative #MarchTBR I may still adjust it a bit!
Overall, a delightful steamy contemporary romance. It was a bit long though and I didn‘t love the third act break up. I did really like all the characters though! 4⭐️
#bookspinbingo!
Overall I really enjoyed this trilogy, though the ending felt a bit convenient. This is definitely the weakest of the series, but I was still hooked throughout. 4⭐️
#roll100 done!
This just felt very just ok. There was nothing really new here. It was entertaining enough that I finished it, but I won‘t really remember it in a few weeks. 3⭐️
Very early in the book I realized this is not for me, so DNFing. #hailthebail and another book off my physical tbr.
Another bonkers adventure with Carl, Princess Donut and friends. This one took inspiration from Magic the Gathering and Pokemon. The game play doesn‘t always make sense, but the characters and true stakes for all involved continues to make this a new favorite series! 4.5⭐️
#bookspinbingo!
Very much a less plot all vibes creepy ghost story. I did overall like it though. 4⭐️
This was an excellent horrific read. Very different from Grady Hendrix‘s previous books-this is not as funny and far more harrowing. I would put it in a similar vein to The Reformatory by Tananarieve Due. Another book that tells a fictional take on real horrors in our not to distant past. 5⭐️
#doublespin pick done
This was so great! I could not stop listening. I have really enjoyed the authors thrillers and now she has written a beautiful messy love story with found family and ice dancing. Loved it! 5⭐️
This was overall a fun action packed continuation of the story. I just hate the cliffhanger ending! 3.5⭐️
Bummed to say this, but I am bailing on this one at 57%. It just feels derivative of many other books and I‘m bored. #hailthebail
But another #roll100 tbr pick off the shelves
This was a solid installment in the Wayward Children series. I enjoyed the world in this story, I just felt that it rushed through the ending. I will still continue to read these lovely little novellas. 4⭐️
This was such a cozy sweet small town/cowboy romance. I enjoyed this much more than book 1. The series is connected, but you can read this as a standalone. There is steam, but this has great characters and story. 4.5⭐️
This is a case of not for me. The writing is fine, and I see the appeal and why it is so popular. However, the brand name dropping and DRAMA is just not what I‘m in the mood for. I may give it a try at a different point, but for now #hailthebail.
Finished this today in preparation for my real life bookclub this week. It was sweet, cute and cozy but not especially surprising. Just a nice easy read. 3.5⭐️
Here is my #bookspinbingo board for my #FebruaryTBR
My #bookspin pick is How to Kill You by Ren DeStefano
My #doublespin pick is Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix
Thanks as always for the amazing @TheAromaofBooks for organizing this!
Here are my current reads:
Physically reading tagged which is one of my #Roll100
I‘m listening to The Love Elixir of Augusta Stern for my real life book club.
If I finish that audiobook I‘ll probably pick a fun easy romance to listen to.
I had a tough time picking my favorite for this month so I went for tagged because it was the most fun read. I read it slowly because I was savoring it. Way more world building and character development than most Romantasy and I really wish it had a better cover.
January wrap-up! A lot of great reads!
Favorites of the month:
All the Colors of the Dark-such great writing, more lit fic than thriller, so know that going in
Quicksilver-one of the few buzzy Romantasy books I actually enjoyed
Lost & Lassoed-such a fun cowboy romance
Butcher‘s Masquerade-I continue to love Carl & Princess Donut
Disappointments: The Silent Patient & All This & More
2 DNF‘s not shown⬇️
Well that‘s an unfortunate start to February. I‘m DNFing this one. The set up is fun-people trapped by an avalanche, someone is dead maybe? However, everyone is either stupid, bland or unlikable. Others may enjoy this one, but a big nope for me. #hailthebail
This was a delightful surprise. One of the few buzzy Romantasy books that I genuinely enjoyed. This is probably because it has actual world building, the romance is a slow burn and the steamy scenes are not cringy or over done. I really enjoyed this and look forward to more in this world. 5⭐️
#bookspinbingo!
Not quite as strong as the first two books, but still a satisfying ending to this epic Nordic fantasy series! 4⭐️
A fun twisty thriller with quite the twist. McFadden is not a great author, but she does write easy to read popcorn thrillers with fun twists. 4⭐️
A truly horrific and gruesome horror novel about a secret governmental program that goes very wrong. It was a little slow going at the beginning, but the last third was gripping. 4⭐️
#bookspinbingo!
The best of the series! Up til this one it was a good but not great cowboy romance series, but this one had the best banter and I enjoyed the whole cast of characters. 5⭐️
Here is my #FebruaryTBR! No theme, just books I want to get to and my #Roll100 and book club selections. There is a nice sprinkling of romance in here though. 🥰
I will be, as always be participating in #bookspin #doublespin & #bookspinbingo
Excited to get to these three books in February! I especially like I finally got some short books too!
Across the Green Grass Fields by Seanan McGuire
How I‘ll Kill You by Ren Destafano
Spark of the Everflame by Penn Cole
This is a thrilling dark sci-fantasy series. This is the second book, continuing many characters from the first book and adding some new intriguing and mysterious characters. The beginning was a little slow, and very political. At the 50% point it switches gears and becomes a mix of a dark sci-fi thriller and epic fantasy adventure. I do recommend checking some content warnings if certain content is triggering.⬇️
This started strong and has a great concept. A mix of reality tv, choose your own adventure and It‘s a Wonderful Life. Sounds fun right? It was actually not at all fun. The twist was ok but all three possible endings were highly unsatisfying. I didn‘t DNF it because I was engaged, but I would not strongly recommend. 2.5⭐️
This is twisty dark thriller that I could not stop listening to. I did have a guess at the ending, but there were additional twists that very much surprised me. It is best to go in knowing nothing. 5⭐️
This mystery was perfectly fine. A locked room mystery with two writers as main characters, which sounds fantastic, but the writing was just clunky at times. The mystery was fun, it was just something with the characterization that didn‘t quite click. 3⭐️
I loved the first book of this series and this was also excellent. You should definitely read Moon of the Crusted Snow first. Both take place in Canada in a post apocalyptic world. It is more of a thriller than anything else and has a wonderful cast of characters. 4.5⭐️
An overall satisfying and entertaining ending to this unique fantasy series. There is one set of POV‘s I just didn‘t care about, which was my only big criticism of this book. I still highly recommend this series (which is complete). 4⭐️
A solid short thriller with a fun twist. Best to go in knowing nothing. 4⭐️
A creepy little novella, a fun fast read. 4⭐️
What a delightful rom-com! A homage to romance tropes, though I think the first grumpy grumpy romance I‘ve read. I definitely recommend! 5⭐️
I really enjoyed this new suspense romance from one of my favorite authors. This features a podcaster who is starting a new investigation in a small town with an unsolved mystery, where she meets a fun cast of characters, and perhaps finds love. 4.5⭐️
This was an adorable fantasy novella. A cosy fantasy written well before it became a trend. T. Kingfisher really never disappoints. 5⭐️
#doublespin pick done!
This was good enough for me to keep reading but not a favorite. It‘s known for its big twist, and maybe because I knew the style of mystery that allowed me to guess the ending. I think I‘m also not the biggest fan of this author, though I liked this better than his other big book. 3⭐️
Bailing on this, I may come back to this later, but I‘m not sure if the writing is for me. #hailthebail
Another fantastic adventure with Carl & Princess Donut! 5⭐️
A fun short Romantasy. A conqueror of 4 realms is presented a possible bride, who may not be exactly who she is presented to be. I liked all the characters, especially our 2 protagonists, I just wish this were actually longer so more world building could be included. However, nice to not be so overwritten like many romances these days. 4⭐️
A heartbreaking mystery that is strongly inspired on the Ted Bundy murders, but from the perspectives of the women whose lives were impacted by his murders. A very excellent read. 5⭐️
Here is my final Goodreads Year in Books total.
I‘m keeping my reading goal at 200 for 2025.
Remember any number of finished books is amazing, whether it‘s 5 or 300.
Note - I listen to a lot of audiobooks and occasionally read manga. 😎
Here is my first #bookspinbingo board for 2025! Excited to use this fun reading prompt created by @TheAromaofBooks again to build and stick to my monthly #TBR.
My #bookspin pick is All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker (just finished yesterday as my first read of the year!)
My #doublespin pick is Nine Goblins by T. Kingfisher - my goal is to explore her backlist as a new favorite author.
