Ghost Mother: A Novel | Kelly Dwyer
Mehso-so

My January #Roll100 was okay…I found myself wanting to get the answers to the mystery, but didn‘t find myself enthralled.

PuddleJumper Meh. Better books ahead! 7h

I love Sarah Morgan and this book didn‘t disappoint. A wonderful cast of characters and setting. A Scottish family coming together for Christmas, each with their own worries & plans. The grandmother is hilarious. My favorite read so far this month.

TheAromaofBooks I loved this one!!! Although I wanted to spend more time with Lucy 😂 I would have loved to see this book as a trilogy with one book for each sibling because I loved all these characters so much! 6h
Read4life @TheAromaofBooks I would have definitely read all three!!! 5h
julieclair I have heard great things about this book! 🙂 1h

Not me reading all three of my #Roll100 books for January. And bonus they were all super old Netgalley books that I can cross off of that list too!

The Hookup ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Playing for Kicks DNF
If the Boot Fits ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fifth in the series. Getting a bit repetitive. Lots of space battles. The use of a jump drive in combat was interesting. Hoping the next one will show more change to their circumstances. The characters are growing and changing though, so that's good.

#Read2025 #JumpStart2025

I finished this one last week but hadn‘t reviewed it yet. I got it from the library based on the cover & description & made it a January #Roll100 pick (# 62 Any Library Book). (I also saw @BarbaraBB really liked it-always a plus!) So yeah, this book is both very dark & very good. Creepy, set at night & in Iceland where a young woman is exhausted & finds out she‘s sleepwalking to the tune of 40,000 steps on her smart ⬇️

DebinHawaii … watch. 😱🫣 A quick read & be warned there are some triggers. I don‘t want to mention them because I think the discovery of them with the MC add to the creepy horror vibe, but you‘ll see them if you look at Goodreads reviews. The ending is ambiguous which isn‘t always my favorite but I think it works in this one.

📕Continuing with Indian Horse for #OhCanada .

📗Started Sugar Street based on @Lesliereadsalot ‘s intriguing review.

📘The Best of All Possible Worlds is my last #Roll100 for January and I don‘t like it at all.

📙Continuing on with Lark Rise a chapter a day for #HashtagBrigade

ChaoticMissAdventures I read Indian Horse last year and really enjoyed it. He is such a talented storyteller. I also didn't like Possible Worlds, which is such a bummer I really like Karen Lord in interviews, and the premise sounds interesting but I just couldn't get thorough it, and I tried 3 or 4 different times. 3d
Cathythoughts Oh no , to the tagged book! I‘m stacking to see what I think. 🤔 (edited) 3d
Ruthiella @ChaoticMissAdventures The writing in Indian Horse keeps the pages turning, despite the heavy subject matter, which I appreciate. Yeah, Karen Lord is so beloved, but alas her style is for me. 3d

Ruthiella @Cathythoughts Our dearly departed mutual friend Jenny @ReadingEnvy gave it 5⭐️ on Goodreads, so I had high hopes. But it‘s just not my cuppa. More romance than SciFi IMO with no real plot. 3d
Cathythoughts Ok. Good information 👍🏻 It‘s lovely to remember Jenny ♥️💔 3d
Suet624 WHY can I never remember to read a Richard Wagamese story? Grrr…. 3d
Ruthiella @Suet624 So many books, so little time! 3d

A Clean Kill in Tokyo | Barry Eisler

Half American, half Japanese assassin finds himself involved in a hit he'd done. He's hunted, alone and trying to save an innocent woman. Good plot, nicely written, I actually cared about the assassin. Lots of details about Tokyo.

Once again, I‘m the #UnpopularOpinion 🤷🏻‍♀️ I had a difficult time connecting with Mary from the start & considered DNF early on but, kept on despite my reservations. However, after 58% I just could not do it anymore. The situation with Ned was beyond my threshold of ridiculousness🤦🏻‍♀️😂🙄.

I won‘t be carrying on with this series & it‘s also been removed from my tbr👋🏻

PuddleJumper On to better books! 5d
