This was a good mystery with several twists. An 8 year old boy goes missing & this one had me suspecting several characters. Well written even if it did drag a bit in places.

4.5 ⭐️

I have read all of Nita Prose's Maid books, and this one is my favorite! Molly the Maid takes some things to work to get appraised because there is an antique show filming there, and the workers can bering something. She takes an egg at the last minute. Prose uses this egg to tell the backstory of Molly's Gran. We get to learn her history, which I loved. Prose does this through a dairy left for Molly. There is a mystery to solve ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read because the egg goes missing, but I enjoyed the backstory more. Prose continues to develop her characters, not only the MC, but all of them. If you enjoy cozy mysteries and haven't read The Maid Series yet, what in the world are you waiting for? I would suggest you start with The Maid. That way, you won't be lost.

Tentative Publication Date: April 8, 2025

Thanks to Netgalley, Random House Publishing Group, Ballantine Books and Nita Prose for the E-ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

My #Roll100 picks for April are pretty sweet. I already read Jazz back in February, so only have two “musts”.

Marking Time will work for #SeriesLove2025, as it‘s the second in the Cazalet Chronicles.

I own a physical copy of Little Bee and will make it work for #OffMyShelf

I read the bulk of this during March, which turned out to be a perfect read for Women's History Month!

While this is fantasy fiction, it draws from real-life women inequality issues across society, religious orders, and political structures.

When I first began this book, I expected a “Beauty and the Beast with gothic undertones“. This is more “medieval, cursed king finds his sorceress“.

I very nearly bailed at the very beginning...

AnnCrystal Since this book had been a gift for my birthday, I gave it one more try...and I am very glad.

I don't know why this began with such a terrible scene...perhaps to make readers worried for Blue (FMC Cerise's dog) once he is gifted to her by the king. I know I was freaked out worried for Blue throughout the whole book...

AnnCrystal There was a little Beauty and the Beast at the beginning, but it quickly became it's own unique story that became better and better with each chapter. I didn't like the king at first, then I began to adore him right along with Cerise.

This book turned out to be a genuine gem that I absolutely loved. Those last scenes where dynamite 📚💝.

#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025 This has been in my Audible library for over a decade. It‘s a long time coming for me to check this one off my list. I enjoyed the first couple of books in the series, but the quality has gone downhill five books in. Only one left to listen to and I will listen to it within the next couple of months. I‘ve got to find out what happens in the end.

TheSpineView Great job for pushing through! 👏👏👏 1d
CatLass007 @TheSpineView Thanks! The book‘s not awful because if it was I‘d bail. It‘s an entertaining mystery because it doesn‘t require too much mental heavy lifting. It‘s a good palette cleanser. (edited) 1d

#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025 Set in the Caraval universe, we get to find out about another young woman seeking love and trying to do the right thing. A lot of focus is placed on Jax and I am glad to see him again, even if he has a total shit. I recommend this fantasy.

#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025 The idea of corporations having so much control over the government and the citizenry is not new. The fact that it is now formally acknowledged to be the case in this is particular future is well done. The ways companies maintain their power are disturbing but not surprising. The idea of “Modders” is new to me and it‘s an intriguing concept. The way Modders are respected and the technology is intertwined with (cont)⬇️

#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025 I love Katherine Center‘s writing and I‘ve made it my goal to read everything she‘s written. She says she‘s a Romance author but if that was all there was to her storytelling I wouldn‘t be interested. Her characters are compelling and real. Their lives aren‘t perfect and they go through life-changing experiences. Recommended.
