Finished the audiobook this weekend as I ran errands, I enjoyed this pick for #ThematicCozies March #Hobby Brenna has been in her small New England town, a refugee of Boston where the art gallery she ran was violently robbed. She teaches decoupage art in the paper craft store her friend Tenley owns & gets involved in solving the mayor‘s death when her landlord is accused. The characters show promise & I like that there⬇️

DebinHawaii … is a little romantic tension/competition brewing between Brenna & her landlord, artist Nate & also between Brenna & Dom (trying to turn his mob family‘s businesses legit.) There‘s some decoupage tips thrown in, so I learned a little about it too. Free on Audible, I downloaded the 2nd book (there‘s 3 total) to listen to as well. (edited) 4h

Started reading the latest book by Jonas Jonasson (of the Hundred Year Old Man fame).

Totally missed this one being published. Like his other books this is a quirky read with some interesting and unique characters.

27/100 I bailed on Schreiber's other Star Wars book, Red Harvest, but I really enjoyed this one. All I know about Darth Maul is what I got from Episode 1, but he's a very interesting character, brutal, viscous, and very good at fighting. For some reason, I like the Star Wars books dealing with the bad guys, more than the heroes. Schreiber's writing is dark, violent, gory and intense, definitely showing the dark ⬇️

eclectic-reader Do you read graphic novels? If so, I highly recommend Gillen's Darth Vader run. The focus is very much on the villains. Pretty awesome. 15h

Finished yesterday for #Roll100 (#90 Any Backlist) & as a prompt for my #OUABC 2025 40 Book Challenge (Any Hugo Award Winner). I loved this one! T. Kingfisher writes fun characters & found family with a sly dark humor. All the characters in Marta‘s ragtag group were endearing & I enjoyed this fantasy paranormal fairytale. Looking forward to working my way through the rest of the author‘s backlist. Pretty sure it will be a 2025 fave.🖤

So I‘m not sure why I felt I needed to read both the 1940 & the 1976 versions for #NancyDrewBR but I did. My library only has the latter version but I found the 1940 versions online, free to download & read it the other night. Although they both feature brass-bound trunks, ocean liners & stolen jewelry, they are pretty different. I liked 1976 slightly better (Nancy George & Bess cruise from Holland to New York & end up⬇️

DebinHawaii … caught up in a mystery along with their cabin mate Nelda Detweiler from SouthAfrica. In the 1940 version the 3 are on a ship to Buenos Aries with a cat, no less & a new friend named Nestrelda. I felt like the 1940 version was much more random with too many characters & a very flippant Carson Drew. I didn‘t love either version & only remembered a bit of the 1970s story making me think it wasn‘t a reread favorite of my childhood. Spoiler alert ⬇️ 1d
DebinHawaii … about concussions in both: In the 1976 version, George gets knocked on head pretty hard & ends up in the infirmary. In the 1940 version Nancy gets knocked on the head even harder & passes out “for a long while” & then faints again later on, saying the blow “must have been worse than she thought!”🤕😱 Yikes! So if we go by the 1940 version it makes 7/17 on the Nancy Noggin Knockout counter or #NNK. 🤷🏻‍♀️ ⬇️ (edited) 1d
DebinHawaii … Okay, I oversimplified it all butI look forward to the discussion on 3/15 to see what others thought. Here‘s a link to the 1940 version: https://www.fadedpage.com/showbook.php?pid=20210625 (edited) 1d

This was unputdownable for me! The whole time I questioned every character (they were all pretty sketchy) and whether or not they were telling the truth. But as the title suggests, this is a story about a mother and daughter, and the strength of that bond.

26/2025 Cannibalism. It brings up horrible images, Hannibal Lector and his fava beans, but humans and animals have a long history of cannibalism, for survival, for medicinal reasons, for rituals, for conquest, and sadly for pleasure in some. Fortunately, the author sticks to the scientific reasons, and isn't lured into the sensational aspect with serial killers like Jeffery Dahmer and Ed Gein.

Finished earlier this week. I had been hearing about this series for ages no & decided to finally give it a go as a quick listen. It was enjoyable although not as laugh out loud funny as I‘d been led to believe, I liked Murderbot & I‘ll read/listen to more. The first book was free through Audible & I put the next audiobook on hold through Library Libby (19 weeks wait! Probably due to the upcoming Apple TV series.)

Kitta I Love Murderbot! I think it‘s not laugh out loud funny but more a dry sense of humour type of thing. I‘m on book 4.5 now lol 1d
