The Scorch Trials | James Dashner

Mehso-so

These really are such quick reads.
Like with the first book I feel the characters lack emotional depth and they feel much too young.
But the gripping adventure/trial and the cliffhanger ending makes me want to read the next book.

This was very interesting, but it will make you angry at some of the ways victims and their families have been treated by the UK justice system. It's very up-to-date as well. For example, Wayne Couzens is mentioned. Next post will be triggers, as there are quite a few.

Would work for #52bookclub25 #redheadedcharacter as well, but I ⬇️

jenniferw88 want my character to have a more active role in the story, so I'm not using it for this prompt. 2w
julesG The book is non-fiction. Why would you use a non-fiction for the red-head prompt? 2w
jenniferw88 @julesG There's 2 real-life people mentioned in it with red hair! It's a very weak stretch, but if you were worried about the prompt, then you could possibly count it. (I'm hoping to use Demon Copperhead for that one though) 2w

julesG I'm not worried. I completed the prompt already (with 3 backup books). 2w
jenniferw88 @julesG 👍😀 2w

I think this one was my list! My favorites to teach (at the college level) are:
1) The White Tiger
2) A Raisin in the Sun
3) Trifles

#ThreeListThursday @dabbe

dabbe Never read #1 (on the TBR now) but loved #s 2 and 3! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🤩🤗🤩 2w
SaunteringVaguelyDownwards It was a World Lit recommendation from a colleague - very unusual to have such a dislikable but compelling narrator! I also enjoyed the Netflix movie adaptation, if you're into those. 2w

Mehso-so
ShelleyBooksie I'd love to hear what made it so-so. Was it slow paced? 3w
jenniferw88 @ShelleyBooksie medium. It's a high so-so/low pick - I think I wanted more definite answers as to who did it/what really happened. If you liked The Five by Hallie Rubenhold, you might enjoy it better. 3w

28/100 for the third AP Lit list.

Some faves:
1) A Prayer for Owen Meany
2) Middlemarch
3) Oryx and Crake (I need to re-read this trilogy!)

@dabbe #ThreeListThursday #TLT

ImperfectCJ Actually, if I do re-read the MaddAddam trilogy, I'll probably start with the third book (MaddAddam) and work my way back. I remember liking the first book more after reading the other two, and I'd like to see if changing the order improves the reading experience. They're not really chronological 1 to 3, so I feel comfy mixing and matching. 4w
dabbe #s 1 and 3 are on my TBR. Loved MIDDLEMARCH! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 4w
