This was fun! Bookish Minerva needs to get to a geology symposium and she convinces rouge Colin to take her. This is #2 in a series, I didn't read #1 and you don't need to. They all start in the same town, but are all stand-alones. I found this to be funny and charming so much so I am going to read #4 also (the other 2 are centering military and that is not for me)
A nice historical romance with a smart women MC.

My bookspin for March, a Canadian #Canlit children's classic from the 1980s. Hope to start later today!

ShelleyBooksie I adored this series as a child. Was my #1 scholastic bookfair choice. ♡ 1d
TheLudicReader Never heard of it! 😂 1d

merelybookish @TheLudicReader Maybe "classic" is a bit strong! But some people do remember it with fondness! 21h

It's been a busy, but rejuvenating week:
1. I went to a rally to stand with Ukraine
2. At #1, I heard about a community organizing event that I attended the next day
3. At #2, I heard about an upcoming mutual aid workshop, which is just what I've been looking for
4. I saw Frigg, a Finnish folk band, in concert
5. I'm going to the symphony tomorrow

Tl;dr: Community and music are healing. 🩵

A phenomenal non-fiction book and movie recommendation for #blackhistorymonth.

My masters is in forensic psychology so this story is powerful to me. Heartbreaking, motivating, educational and important too. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 for each.

And Michael B. Jordan is my #1 celebrity crush... let's be honest here. He's beautiful to look at. Watch it. Read it.

TiredLibrarian This is a great book. 3d
ncsufoxes My son read this in high school & loved it. He took an ethnic literature course for his senior language requirement (this was 3 years ago & it was a pilot class his school in San Diego was testing out). We have a copy that I need to pull & read. 3d

LoverOfLearning @ncsufoxes What a great class! I'd love to have taken a class like that! It's a tough read in parts but so important. I listened to the audio! :) 3d

#MentalHealthMonday a day late !
1.every day is crazy day.I have much to do but the pain & cruelty coming down in this political scene is toxic.
2.music is always a great idea!
3. I was pretty edgy in my choices as a young adult, I find myself in this crazy time gravitating to the pop/rock of my childhood for comfort!😁I am diehard NPR usually, but can‘t take the ridiculous crap all day long.

Leftcoastzen @Ruthiella indeed! My radio just played Huey Lewis and the News !😄 5d
Kerrbearlib I agree, the pain and cruelty is toxic. It can be so heartbreaking to read the news and so hard not to slip into despair. Love your book choice. What are some of your favorite groups from the 1970s? I've been listening to more music from that decade and really enjoying it! 5d

AmyG I am finding your #3…with movies. Movies from my youth are so comforting. And hugs to #1…madness. 5d
Leftcoastzen @Kerrbearlib oh so many, the Stones , the Who, when I was young so much was top 40 . The Kinks , Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Springsteen. I just had to stop & listen to Lean On Me by Bill Withers yesterday, let it wash over me! 5d
Leftcoastzen @Kerrbearlib listening to For What it‘s Worth by Buffalo Springfield often! 5d
Leftcoastzen @AmyG yes , movies ! Tacky , silly , serious, ones that made me happy or made me think! 5d
BethM I‘m so glad I got to see the Stones with my dad a few years ago! 5d
Leftcoastzen @BethM oh , wow ! That‘s so cool! 5d
peaKnit Agree about the political scene 🤯 nostalgic picks often soothe my soul too. 4d
