4.9⭐️ I‘m a little tired so I‘m just gonna say this… I loved this trilogy so much. The action, suspense, romance, and spice were chefs kiss. I have never read Rina Kent before, but I will definitelybe reading more.
4.9⭐️ I‘m a little tired so I‘m just gonna say this… I loved this trilogy so much. The action, suspense, romance, and spice were chefs kiss. I have never read Rina Kent before, but I will definitelybe reading more.
4.9⭐️ you know how I said yesterday that I may not read another book until I‘m done with this trilogy… Well there is no maybe. I can‘t put this trilogy down. It has so many twists and turns that I don‘t know what‘s happening, and the cliffhanger are killer. Is it spicy, absolutely… but the storyline far outweighs the spice. It is just so good.
4.9⭐️ should I be asleep because I have a long day at work tomorrow, yes! So why am I still awake… Because of this damn book. It had me in such a chokehold by the second half that I could not put it down. Do I have other books that I need to read, yes… Yes, I do. Will I be reading them, absolutely not. I will be going straight to book 2 and possibly finishing the trilogy before I start anything else.
Look, I‘m not saying it wasn‘t good, I‘m just saying it wasn‘t good for me. I was so bored I started skipping through chapters. Then I thought “if I‘m skipping most of the book, why am I even reading it“. DNF
4⭐️ this is not gonna be a book for everybody, and to be honest, I almost DNF it. It‘s got a lot of issues, including domestic violence, bullying, infidelity, and murder. But I‘m glad I stuck with it, because it was really good.
Edit: didn‘t realize until I was marking it off my bingo card that this was my #bookspin for November‘s #BooksSpinBingo … Go me!
My third and final day of my short story marathon, andI‘m officially 15 books ahead of schedule and 16 books to make my reading goal for the year. This weekend has been a lot of fun and I found a lot of great stories in doing this. COMPLETELY RECOMMEND doing a short story marathon. You never know what you might find.
Day two of my short story marathon, and I‘ve officially caught up. I am now seven books ahead of schedule in my reading goal. After tomorrow, I should have a nice cushion to get me through the month of December.
1.6⭐️ it had a good potential, but it felt really really flat for me. It didn‘t make sense, it was sweet one minute, then completely crude the next. And let‘s talk about the insane Insta love, or the “we just had sex for the first time but I can tell you‘re already pregnant”. Cringe! If it wasn‘t so short, I would‘ve DNF it.
4.7⭐️ I loved this book. Mafia romance/boxer romance that was super spicy. It was an amazing combination. Definitely recommend but as always check your trigger warnings.
I‘m taking this holiday weekend to read as many short stories as I can, while continuing to read my TBR for November, so I can to catch up on my reading goal. Today is day one and I‘ve read nine. The best thing about this is being introduced to new authors. The Gift was really good and I‘m looking forward to reading more by this author.
2.8⭐️ I finished it, so there‘s that. Look, I like dark Romance, love it really, but this was not really my cup of tea. While the author tried to make the MMC redeemable, there were just certain things that I could not get over. With that being said, I will not be continuing the series.
OK, let‘s see how I do this month with my #BookSpinBingo. A lot of these books are the same ones from last month since I had only read five of my TBR in October. I am reading multiple other books this month in order to try to reach my reading goal, though they‘re super short.
I am currently nine books behind in my reading goal for this year. Which means I need to be 35 books before the end of December to reach my goal of 150. I am looking for some great short book recommendations to help me reach my goal. Send me those suggestions please.
Got home late from a long day at work and just remembered its #HHS24 opening day 😆 Thank you @AmyG for putting together this amazing swap for me… I love it. Thank you @wanderinglynn for hosting.
Did you know BROM released a new book last month? HE DID! 😆 To say I was excited is an understatement. So, of course, I was a Barnes & Nobles the day it released. The good thing, I got my hand on the last copy. The bad thing, even though I went with Supervision, I bought way more than I should‘ve. Several that are on this list… Lol. anyways, got a good mix of horror, dark fantasy, and a few extras in between. Happy October! 👻🎃 #BookSpinBingo
Some thing I have learned about myself recently is that I do not like taboo romances. That definitely goes for the friends dad trope, which is why her best friend‘s dad is my least favorite book for July. As for my August pick for worst book, it was just bad… I have nothing more to say about it.
My July‘s book of the month was Hex, and technically should‘ve been the winner between July and August. It was the better book, I will give it that. But Toxic, my August win, hit a little too close to home for me. I work as a therapist, part-time at a prison, and I have seen nurses walk off the yard for what this book talks about. I don‘t condone anything that took place in this book, but it was awful in such a good way.
I haven‘t posted in a bit because I have been working nonstop. But I missed you guys, and I‘m looking forward to being more present this month. Starting with my next read. Needed a bit of a palate cleanser from all the dark romances, though I have a lot on this month‘s list to. I picked this up last year in Texas, I think it‘s about time I read it. Yes, I know, not all the bands depicted in this post were part of LookOut, but they‘re my favorite.
Because I spent most of July doing rereads, my list is exactly the same as last month. The only exception is I changed out my two fable book club books as they were the only new ones read last month.
This month i kinda isolated and disconnected a little, and found comfort is some rereads. This is what my month looked liked.
This month the The RoaringWolf Fright Night Bookclub is reading The Boatman‘s Daughter on Fable. If horror is your thing, please join us. https://fable.co/club/roaringwolf-fright-night-with-roary47-202125311454?referra...
4.2⭐️ I wanted to resist because I was told that it was absolutely terrifying. Was it though… yes, but not because of the ghost/witch. It because of how awful the town people are and the reality that so many people who have same behavior outside of the story. The pace was slow and it has a-lot of complex characters, though it did not take away from the book. Overall, not what expected but definitely worth the read.
4.7⭐️ it‘s Joe Abercrombie… Of course I love it. Here we have an underdog thrown into this vishous and brutal world, full of vikings and pirates. And as always, it is excellently written. My only issue is that they were so many holes in the story, that it felt incomplete. I know this is a trilogy, but I felt like it needed just a little bit more. And the ending, in my opinion, was very anti-climatic.
Talk about the good… Now it‘s bring on the bad and boy was it bad this month. I ended up choosing 2, and it could‘ve been more, based off the grooming behaviors these 40 year old man had with 18 year old girls. Maybe it‘s because I‘m not into age gaps like this, or because I‘m a social worker, but this is gross. No judgment if it‘s your thing, just not for me. However, still going strong for the worst book of the year is The Grownup.
I think it‘s always a tough choice for me to pick the book of the month, especially when I have multiple five star reads. However, this month it goes to a dark romance sequel. It got to the point , while reading this, that I felt like I needed emotional support. The writer wasn‘t afraid to let it be what it was, without some safe fluff in between. Though, House of Flame and Shadows takes the win for the first half of the year.
Woot Woot… let‘s go July! So July is my birth month and I‘m super excited about this month reads. One, because me and @Roary47 are starting our Fable book clubs with two very highly recommended books. I‘m also continuing some of my favorite reread‘s, finishing off a trilogy and a duology, as well as new books that I am really looking forward to. HAPPY READING 📖 #BookSpinBingo
4.8 ⭐️ I enjoyed it… But I expected more. Though it did throw me off because my chapter 5 I really thought I had it and I did not.

I won‘t lie… I‘ve been burned out on some of the epic reads I‘ve been working through. I love them, and I‘m not gonna stop, but I needed something very mind numbing this weekend. And thanks to the stuff your kindle event, I found some really short smutty reads, and kind of just went with it. Now most of these I rated a 2 and nothing got higher than a 3… But I think it was what I needed to get out of my head, so there you go.
Night creatures, you are being summoned! If midnight is your waking hour, you enjoy the sounds of screams, if you search for creatures creeping, and every day is Halloween. If thrills and chills are what you seek, and the hounds of hell make you weak… then we have the Fable book club for you. Join the RoaringWolf Fright Night bookclub as we seek, and read the books that will truly leave us terrified.

4.0⭐️ This was a hard book to read, but I feel that it was a very moving and important piece to read. I had a really consider the time period that this book was written in, because even though it was written with the right idea in mind, it still conveys people being less than. However, it truly does open your eyes to how inhumane and disgusting people can be, especially when they think they‘re in the right. #ClassicsCountDown.
4.1⭐️ I started the series because of a quote from this book. I knew I would love it and I was right. I had to finish the first two books before I finally got to it, but I found it to be the best so far. Though, I have some of the same complaints. Mainly, the repetitive statements throughout the book. Still planning to read the last one, though I am feeling a little sad about it.
How do you rate a book? I have five things I look at when I‘m deciding how many stars to give a book. Did it pull me in and get me invested, did it give me the desired emotions, how is the world building in character development, was there a worthwhile plot and decent writing, and was there originality and creativity. This book checked all the boxes and it‘s easily a 5⭐️, but I beg you to check trigger warnings and protect your mental health.
3.2⭐️ so the book was not bad, at least not the majority of it. It was just really hard to get through. First, and while I normally don‘t say this, it was to long. Not that I don‘t like a big chunky book, but there has to be a reason for it other the just filling space. 2nd, and because of reason 1, this book dragged so much it took me a month and a half to get it done. 🥱
Is there an emotional support group for those who have read Hunting Adeline… I just binged read part one and I kind of feel like I need it.😭
5⭐️ I think I gave this a lower score, though, not by much, the first time I read it. But going back and re-reading it, I realize that for me, it is a five star. I feel that I was truly with the FMC throughout the entire book. Maybe this is because I read the whole series and have already made a connection with her. I don‘t know why, but I love the story, and it ripped my heart out every time. 😭 If you know you know.
3.4⭐️ have you ever like some thing yet not like that at the same time. That is me with this particular manga. I love the graphics, the storyline and the gore that comes in this one. But it‘s very high school with some scenes that aren‘t the most appropriate for that setting. I mean , it‘s not R rated or anything… it‘s just a little off. Probably will still continue with this, unless it gets worse.
4.1⭐️ with how obsessed I am with bats 🦇, I‘m kind of shocked that I had not read this book till tonight. Super cute with gorgeous pictures. Book 4 of trying to catch up on my reading goal.
4.1⭐️ this one is super adorable, and a great read for kids who struggle with being different. Book three of me trying to catch up on my reading go for the year.
3.1⭐️ seriously… OK it was cute, and it made me sad to where I teared up a little bit. But, first of all… I don‘t know why it was called witch hazel because there wasn‘t really anything witchy going on except for a hat. Second of all… There was room for so much more, even a brief introduction to the stories that she‘s telling. The imagery though was beautiful. One more book to help me catch up on my way to goal.
4.3⭐️ man this children‘s book got dark quick. Definitely my style. Very Gothic fantasy vibes but in a children‘s story. This little girl that befriends a skull is one for the ages. She‘s that friend you call when you have to hide a body… I‘m just saying. It was a fun little read help me catch up on my reading goal.
5⭐️ this book was amazing. When we talk about dark, Gothic fantasy, this book checked all the boxes. It was so good and gave me chills. The world building, character development, the twist and the heart aches were all there. I had meant to read this book last month, started it on Friday and just got a finish today. So I‘m definitely counting it for June and it‘s my first five star of the month. If dark fantasy is your genre, please read this book.
