This evening, my mom and I were watching one of our favorite shows. Todd (one of the main characters of the show) is sitting and waiting for a clue at a restaurant when a series of names are called out for order pickup. One of the names given is my brother's name, Ulysses Joe! How epic!

Just found out that this TV show, So Help Me Todd has been cancelled!!!! Not another one, still not over the cancelation of the Fantasy Island reboot.

RamsFan1963 That's why I stopped watching TV. Every time I got invested in a show and the characters, boom it gets cancelled and I never get an ending. I'm still pissed at CBS for leaving fans hanging with no end to the Scorpion series after 4 seasons. 2d
AnnCrystal @RamsFan1963 it seems like that. Cancelled or moved to “streaming only.“

Each and every time another show is cancelled, I always tell myself to only continue with what I'm already invested in and add nothing new to my lineup...that usually lasts until the fall 😂 of each year.

I now try considering any “short run“ shows as mini-series...which is difficult if they don't have a good finale.

📺🎬😉👍.

It‘s the end of the first third of the year, and the beginning of the following third. I only just heard about this challenge today, so I made up a board for myself for the last two-thirds of the year. Ready. Set. Go!

#bingoboardfromhell2024

MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm Good luck! ❤️ 4d
slategreyskies @MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm thanks! And thank you also for letting me know where you got it. I‘d never heard of literary diversions before and am super excited to check out some of her YouTube videos! :) 4d
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm You‘re very welcome! She‘s amazing!! I don‘t even overlap reading interests with her very much, but she‘s so fun and full of sunshine. I can‘t get enough. 😅❤️ 4d
BookmarkTavern Wow! That‘s intense! Good luck! 🍀 4d
slategreyskies @BookmarkTavern I actually think it may help me focus and complete more books, but I suppose I‘ll find out as the year goes on. I have a tendency to start reading challenges (especially BINGO boards) and never come close to completing them. Haha 😂 3d

I‘m using a year long list like @TheAromaofBooks does. This month I didn‘t move books from the list on the right. Instead I added a couple more of #MyPartnerPickedIt and ‘one gifted to me,‘ because I have neglected those a bit.

#BookspinBingo list to come.

I love this question! What a cool idea for something to ask everyone. I‘m really looking forward to going through the tag and checking out everyone else‘s answers.

As for me, I own the most copies of Anne Sexton‘s complete poems. I think I have four copies of it. Possibly five. I have several different editions, some of which are literally falling apart. One of them has been written in heavily. All of them are well loved. #SundayFunday

Tried some Venezuelan candy and cookies for #foodandlit. There was lots of chocolate snacks and I liked most of them better than their American counterparts. For example, they had a “crunch” bar and a “Hershey” bar that was better. The hands down favorite was the strawberry bubble gum lollipop and the coconut wafer cookie. @Texreader @Catsandbooks

Sorry honey. I don‘t know what happened. I was running errands all day, was headed home, and realized I needed to go to the bathroom and there was just happened to be Barnes and noble so I ran in to go to the bathroom and I thought I would pick up the #camplitsy books for June and something happened. I think I blacked out, maybe I got sucked into the vortex. Now we have 7 books, a tea towel and a puzzle. In my defense it was also raining.

2. Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper
3. Lucky Star by Madonna

^^^I got stuck going down an 80s songs rabbit hole for the past hour. I finally realized there were no perfect 3 songs, because they can‘t really be narrowed down that far. So, with the exception of the first song, the others are not top favorites of mine. They‘re just great songs.

#ThreeListThursday #TLT

Sace Maybe off topic but I read an article about the top happiest songs (maybe it was a top 10?) and so many were from the 80s. I could easily get lost in an 80s music rabbit hole (and 70s for that matter). 1w

I‘d like your recommendations on books that would help someone deal with bullying. They can be for adults or YA. As an AuDHD adult with C-PTSD, I find that I don‘t have the social skills to navigate bullying. I could really use a couple books to help me work my way through it. Nothing triggering, please. Nonfiction is cool, as is fiction, as are graphic novels. I‘m open to anything. ⬇️

slategreyskies (Cont.) to add to that, my strategy has normally been to leave the situation, but I don‘t want to leave Litsy. I‘ve already removed my name from a group I participated in, but I don‘t feel like I should lose my safe places just because someone else isn‘t safe. Any advice or book rec would be welcome! You all are my tribe. I know someone out there knows the perfect book for this! 📚🤍 2w
ImperfectCJ This might not be quite what you're looking for, but it (and the whole series) has been helpful for me. If you'd like a quick overview before committing to the book, the author was on the Ten Percent Happier Podcast talking about the book: https://spotify.link/DGBFBXch0Ib 2w
slategreyskies @ImperfectCJ right now, I‘m just compiling resources, and this looks like an excellent addition. I‘m not sure there will be one book that covers it completely, so I will likely pick out relevant parts from several books and work within a framework of my own making. Thank you for that suggestion, as I hadn‘t heard of that book before! :) 2w
See All 8 Comments
Read4life @ImperfectCJ thank you for the link. I think my daughter and I could both benefit from it. I‘ve been struggling lately and stressing about how to best support her as we try to navigate an overwhelming situation. My husband is usually better at “rolling with things” or “letting go” but he may want to read this, too. @slategreyskies I try to always educate myself so I‘ll be honest and tell you I had to look us AuDHD & c-ptsd. ⬇️ (edited) 2w
Read4life I think c-ptsd is something I need to learn more about and discuss with someone. Thank you for sharing this. 💙💙 If you get any recommendations that you think could benefit a college aged person that has suffered loss and is being bullied would you mind sharing them with me? I will share if I hear or find anything that may fit your recommendation request. Thank you. 🤍 2w
CoffeeK8 I‘m so sorry you are dealing with bullying. I think this book might be helpful in terms of gaining a deeper understanding of C-PTSD and how to help yourself. Although I‘m pretty sure it might be triggering to read if you‘re already upset, so maybe hold onto it for another day. 2w
CoffeeK8 @ImperfectCJ I second that podcast and book. They have been really helpful. 2w

Tried some Venezuelan food for #foodandlit. Wood fired bbq steak, rice and fries, a shredded chicken arepa on the right and a golfeado which is a cinnamon roll with cheese. The soda was strawberry flavored. Everyone loved the food and the drink it‘s gone except for some of the golfeado (it is an acquired taste, not bad but different enough we have some leftover).

The irises are in bloom. I wait all year for this. They‘re so beautiful. I actually go out of my way when driving places to drive by homes with irises in their yards. I keep a running list of which homes have them and which colors they have from the ones I‘ve seen while driving in previous years. The home with the most beautiful iris display changed owners last year, and before they moved, they dug up all their irises. They must‘ve had 200. ⬇️

slategreyskies (Cont.) I wish I knew where they moved the irises to, because I‘d drive there to see them. They were the highlight of my year. Every year without fail, so much beauty. At least the other houses still have them. And they‘re beautiful too. 2w
