How is your summer going (or winter, for our friends in the Southern Hemisphere)? Here in the US, we are halfway through summer 😨. Have you read 7 of your #14Books14Weeks yet? Or have you abandoned the dry-haystack of pre-chosen books for greener pastures?

I magically finished my 7th book yesterday, which would be on track if my reading-vacation hadn't happened in June so I won't have nearly as much time to read the rest of the summer.

This post covers stories from a worksite raid. A Cannabis farm in Camarillo, CA. There were over 300 individuals kidnapped, along with some Americans.

A farmworker, Jaime Alanís Garcia died in a hospital from serious injuries obtained after falling from a rooftop during the raid.

Warning, if you search for more about Jaime Alanís Garcia, prepare yourself mentally. I have read some of the comments made about Jaime Alanís Garcia, which left me both sad and appalled at the insensitivity and lack of empathy.

AnnCrystal A fellow protestor has stated that when a tear gas canister fell beneath a wheelchair and apparently trapped a protestor in a panic state of smoke and irritant. Professor Jonathan Anthony Caravello reached for the canister and tossed it away.

Agents claim the canister was thrown at them and that it injured one agent.

Professor Caravello was later targeted, tackled, and kidnapped by these barbarian agents and now faces serious charges.

AnnCrystal There were youths working at this farm. It has been reported that these youths were working lawful summertime jobs.

My mom said that she worked the tomato fields with her sisters at a young age, sent along with some neighbors. It has often been described as some of the best times in her life even though my grandmother kept the funds earned.

So I can only say that I hope these youths chose this work for their summer break employment.

An off duty border patrol agent, Isaiah Hodgson, 29 has been arrested in Long Beach, CA.

He followed a woman into the women's bathroom and some reports say that he pointed his gun. The woman escaped and asked for help.

This barbarian agent has been charged with three felony counts for resisting arrest, one felony count of battery on an officer, and three misdemeanor gun charges.

With everything going on in America, I hadn't planned on a “Highlights From California“ until next week.

But something has happened.

Haven't been sleeping well, & we have a max limit of 2 cups of coffee per day...so, this is basically written at a level of anxiety & rage that hasn't been emotionally processed/remedied.

Please know: everything has turned out fine for now, but this was an alarming moment for Los Angeles, California & America.

AnnCrystal Before I begin, please know that my mom and I are praying for all of America, from Central Texas, to the firework accidents over the weekend, to the heat waves, and multiple fires across the states, to those worried about the big disastrous bill...the concerns seem endless...🙏🏼💝.

L.A. Mayor Bass held a news conference to give details and updates after the events of today.

However, only a portion of this conference was broadcast on the News before all live coverage was cut.

Therefore I can only give limited details based on what we did catch on the news...both from Live coverage as it was happening and from the brief coverage of the conference held afterwards.

Los Angeles, CA

At a park where families, teenagers, a kid summer camp, park venders, and a homeless medical pop-up were all going about Summer activities...

National Guard in tanks, holding weapons, federal agents forming lines on foot and horseback, caravans of federal agents, & possibly even a military helicopter all swarmed MacArthur Park.

AnnCrystal Our Mayor Bass was on the way to an unrelated press conference when she saw the helicopter.

Mayor Bass went and helped evacuate the park.

Over Live coverage, it looked like a federal agent reached and grabbed Mayor Bass' arm, but this is not confirmed.

Children from camp were rushed into a nearby building for protection.

Those from the homeless medical pop-up were surrounded & frightened, by armed agents who reportedly cursed at them.

Everyone stayed calm and did not give agents a reason to act violently.

No kidnaps are known.

The presence of National Guard and federal agents have all left MacArthur Park.

NBC LA has since reported that peaceful protestors are now gathering at this park.

Buddha will be turning 19 later this month. This old man still gets mini zoomies and loves to cuddle. I can‘t believe he will be 19. Just wanted share a fun little picture of him. Just realized that Walmart fired Adrian Andrew Martinez while he was still being held. An American employee who was kidnapped by armed, unidentifiable agents from a Walmart parking lot. (I wrote this in first Highlights From California).

We have only been to Walmart once (for necessities) since the “no corporate shopping“ at the beginning of 2025.

Now I am truly considering how my mom & I could ever again feel safe shopping here.

AnnCrystal If Walmart refused to stand with their own employee during such an injustice... Walmart should have at least stood with this boy's worried mother. Walmart could have at least secured his employment.

It hadn't even been Walmart security footage that helped clear Martinez of the false allegations against him...it was a neighboring business.

IriDas Haven‘t shopped at Walmart in years except once for an item we could not get anywhere else except mail order. It‘s the garbage company of garbage companies. This is not shocking to me at all. 2w

JenlovesJT47 I‘m screenshotting this so I can find the 80s version! I do love the remake. I binged the first season in 36 hours 😬😆 I love anything in the Psycho universe. The original movie is a masterpiece and imo all 3 sequels are solid, especially 2 & 4. 2 is probably the best sequel for a horror movie I‘ve seen (at least one that‘s so popular!). A boy, his mother and his 9-year-old sibling, originally from Honduras, were seized after the three attended their May 29 immigration hearing in Los Angeles. Attorneys try to challenge this immigration arrest of this family, who are now being held in Texas.

“The Guardian“ identified this mother as “Ms Z.“

Earlier in June 2025
In Huntington Park, CA a 28-years-old U.S. citizen, pregnant with twins, encountered ICE agents who were looking for her undocumented husband.

The woman, who is due in November, said the agents busted into her bathroom while she was in the shower, demanding that she come out without giving her any privacy.

“I feel like a criminal now,” she said. “I felt humiliated. I‘m pregnant. I‘m scared. I‘m shaking.”

Immigrant, Yuriana Julia Pelaez Calderon, who goes by the name Juli,
was taken by “POSSIBLE“ federal agents, who were masked and unidentifiable, on Wednesday, June 25. She was brought down to the U.S. border at San Ysidro and is now being held in a warehouse of both male and female captives until she agrees to self-deport.

And there are deadly storms there?! I even read that the administration will cut hurricane forecasters out of key satellite data in a about a month. What?!

Wait, revoke citizenship? That can happen?!?! Then again, non of this should happen.

Okay, this is cheating. Greenland food mostly focuses on whale and seal meat, but I don't see myself eating that during my lifetime.

Cary López Alvarado, a 9 Month pregnant American born was detained by ice when they came for her undocumented boyfriend.

Alvarado told agents that she was “from here“ they asked, “where's here?“ When she explained herself, they wouldn't believe her.

She was later released to a hospital and has since had her beautiful baby.

When Walmart employee Adrian Andrew Martinez, an American Born, tried to inquire about a coworker who was being detained in Pico Rivera...Martinez himself was detained after a violent struggle with federal agents.

This incident is important because agents claimed Martinez pulled a punch and assaulted a federal agent. Security footage provided proof that this was untrue...which seemingly sets a questionable tone upon accusations against others. (edited) 3w

American born Andrea Velez, was detained by ICE agents in downtown Los Angeles while walking to work.

Velez was dropped off by her mom and sister and they witnessed her being kidnapped.

FBI agents took Alejandro Theodoro Orellana into custody for allegedly “distributing face shields to suspected rioters”

A video appears to show Orellana giving these face shields to random people during daylight hours. It seems odd that Orellana would be held accountable if one or more of these apparent “strangers“ later became violent.

Some sources claim that Orellana is a former U.S. Marine.

In Boyle Heights, federal agents detained a U.S. citizen, Christian Cerna by boxing in his car with unmarked vehicles. Witnesses described agents using vehicles to trap the car and emerging with weapons drawn. One witness reported tear gas being used.

Cerna's partner and two young children were also in the car at the time of the arrest.

It is claimed that Cerna had punched an agent at a protest.
