Bonne fête de la Saint-Jean-Baptiste to all the French-Canadian Litsy members. I‘ve been fortunate enough to be able to spend the month with 24 hours at a time in your beautiful city of Montréal. I have loved my time exploring Montréal, from sampling the great food (Sammi‘s soup dumplings) to visiting your local bookstores (Argo Books). I cannot wait to come back and spend even more time and hopefully make it to Quebec City.

Finally got my stack together for #14books14weeks. With the exception of Sunrise on the Reaping, the rest of these books have been sitting on my shelves for quite some time. 6 of the books are arcs, which have been published for years now, that I need to read so that I can leave them in LFL‘s and open up space for more books on my shelves. I‘m finally going to read the Murderbot Diaries in anticipation of the series. Thanks @Liz_M for this

My husband has been pestering me to get another dog, specifically another dachshund, for the last 3 1/2 years. I promised him that after the wedding we could start seriously looking at getting a puppy. Our baby girl Ginger joined the family late Wednesday night. I had the pleasure of meeting Margaret Atwood years ago when she came to Colorado College to discuss The Year of the Flood. I‘ve always loved her work and can‘t wait to read her memoir.

On Sunday my fiancé took me to Barnes and Noble so I could complete the bookstore birthday shopping challenge. The challenge is where you get 3 mins to browse the store and then 90 seconds to grab as many books as you can carry. The person who took you then has to buy all that you‘re holding at the end of the timer. I ended up with 20 new books for the home library.

Lord Peter Wimsey is definitely no Sherlock Holmes, despite his comment that he feels like Holmes as he works to solve the mystery. Thank god for audiobooks as I‘m not sure I would‘ve finished the book if I‘d read the physical text. I found that the flow of the book wasn‘t the greatest and the ending was quite abrupt. I may give the next book in the series a try just to see if the writing improves. #AuthorAMonth

I found the writing to be very dry, which combined with the fact that Kendall wasn‘t telling me anything I didn‘t already know and understand as a Black American woman, I unfortunately had to DNF this one.

I received a finished copy of this from the publisher for a book tour I‘m taking part in. While the premise sounded promising, the book just did not work for me. I found myself zoning out the entire time I was reading it and every time my fiancé would ask me what it was about, all I could tell him was it was a fantasy with people, that‘s how little of an impression it was leaving on me. I finally decided to just DNF it.

My boyfriend and I arrived in Jamaica on Saturday on a much needed vacation and to celebrate my 40th, turns out he ended up proposing after we got to our room! 💍 🥂 💕

My best friend got me the greatest Christmas gift for both someone who took piano lessons for over a decade and for someone who loves music. I‘m absolutely enjoying this day by day calendar with a new classic song and composer each day. It‘s also nice that I can access the playlist for the text on Apple Music.

Another year in the books for the Goodreads reading challenge. Now on to 2023.

Finally finished putting together my January #Bookspin list.

Probably one of the most bizarre and disturbing dystopian books I‘ve read in a long time. The one thing I‘m left wondering is how and why the society came to create the memory police? #AuthorAMonth

“Oh what a tangled web we weave when at first we learn to deceive.” The perfect quote for this book about a young Mexican girl who finds herself becoming involved with a trio of American tourists and the subsequent death of one and revelations of a myriad of secrets and lies. #AuthorAMonth

I first read this a few years ago when it came out, it was the first Silvia Moreno-Garcia book I read and I loved it. Listening to it on audio for a reread I still love this book and am glad to have reread it as I had forgotten so many of the ins and outs of the book. #AuthorAMonth

Ended up finishing my last read and audiobook for #scarathlon so here are my final points for #TeamMonsterMash. As always I had such a great time with this challenge and can‘t wait for next year.
