My favorite fiction of the month was Daughter of Mine
My picks this month. I needed more genres for the badge and debuts and chunksters.

Read for #naturalitsy. I loved this book, very interesting and well researched. This grizzly lives a zoo we visited last month. it was rescued with its two siblings after their mother died in the wild.
Tried some Venezuelan candy and cookies for #foodandlit. There was lots of chocolate snacks and I liked most of them better than their American counterparts. For example, they had a “crunch” bar and a “Hershey” bar that was better. The hands down favorite was the strawberry bubble gum lollipop and the coconut wafer cookie. @Texreader @Catsandbooks
Sorry honey. I don‘t know what happened. I was running errands all day, was headed home, and realized I needed to go to the bathroom and there was just happened to be Barnes and noble so I ran in to go to the bathroom and I thought I would pick up the #camplitsy books for June and something happened. I think I blacked out, maybe I got sucked into the vortex. Now we have 7 books, a tea towel and a puzzle. In my defense it was also raining.
Tried some Venezuelan food for #foodandlit. Wood fired bbq steak, rice and fries, a shredded chicken arepa on the right and a golfeado which is a cinnamon roll with cheese. The soda was strawberry flavored. Everyone loved the food and the drink it‘s gone except for some of the golfeado (it is an acquired taste, not bad but different enough we have some leftover).
Her books get better and better. This one was is my new favorite of her. A steady page turner, never lost interest. So many secrets for such a small town.
Read this for book club. It did make me laugh out loud and was an easy read. But it was easy to put down and hard to pick up. Nina Hill was way better.
Here are my suggestions for #camplitsy24 I tried to have different genres @squirrelbrain @Megabooks @BarbaraBB
My favorite of March was The Moon of the Turning Leaves. The Women was also good.
Another good book from this author. I do think she could have added a hundred pages to each part and turned it into a duology though.
Oops! When I left the house I wasn‘t going to stop at the book store, but the event got canceled due to wind so we had to come up with a new thing to do so we went to the bookstore. All of these are blame it on Litsy.
#naturalitsy #fridatnightshare here is my pic for nonfiction because I am currently reading it on my spring road trip. It is about what happens when animals pester humans from wild animal attacks to eating garbage and more. It includes non predators and species from all over the world and plants and how different countries have different policies. @Chrissyreadit @jenniferw88 @AllDebooks @TheBookHippie
Another good cozy mystery in the series. I like this author, she has a couple pseudonyms but everyone I read I like. #seasonalcozies @julieclair
On a road trip today but we stopped to pick up a copy of the new Dogman. Couldn‘t pre-order it because of said road trip.
Re-read for #authoramonth. Still love it. Read with my homeschooled high schooler so it took a while since we have to stop to analyze.
This was one of my favorite series as a child. I was definitely a horse girl. Reread for the children‘s classic group.
Korean for #foodandlit. The red bowl is bulgogi dolsot bibimbap- rice veggie beef and egg bowl-everyone liked it. The white bowl is galbitang rib soup, we loved it better than pho. The bulgogi and dumpling plate was a hit. The black rectangle bowl was japchae glass noodles stir fry, we liked it but not the texture. Everyone loved yogurt drinks. The small red sides of kimchi were too spicy for some. @Texreader @Catsandbooks
Very short and I could have read a much longer book. But it is interesting story about her experiences learning about falconry.
Great sequel. All the feels. Auto buy author. Most anticipated new release for 2024 and it didn‘t disappoint.
Wasn‘t super excited about the months picks, but I wanted the free book and add ons.
I noticed a pattern in my reading this year. Very patriotic apparently. White, red, blue. The spine of Tom Lake is more green but the cover is more blue. And Finaly is more pink but close enough. Definitely won‘t be able to keep the pattern going. Next book is black.
I liked it. Reminded me a little of Jack London. Beautiful nature writing and does not shy away from the brutality of the world. Read for #authoramonth and #naturalitsy
Did I need this candle that smells like a book loft to put in my real book loft? Maybe not but I couldn‘t resist when I went in to buy soap at Bath and Body Works.
Stephanie Plum meets Dead to Me. A single mom who is an author is discussing her next book with her agent at Panera when she is mistaken for hitman discussing her job. Over the top ridiculousness ensues yet it might be plausible.
Highly recommend. I love the narrative writing and I learned so much about Garfield and medical science.
I really enjoyed this series and sad that this is the last one. I liked the mystery. The epilogue was very sweet and got me teary eyed. This series always gives me summer vibes and had to make cucumber dill sandwiches and mint sweet tea. I‘m going to try her famous lemon cake recipe included in the book.
My kids love trying candy from the different #foodandlit countries. These come from New Zealand made from their special honey. They are a big hit. Might be the best lollipop I have ever had. Got on Amazon. @Catsandbooks @Texreader
Reminded me of Bridges of Madison County. Beautiful prose and themes.
I broke my book buying ban. But it wasn‘t my fault. I arrived early to an appointment and there was a bookstore in the parking lot. What was a girl to do?
Today is a dreary grey rainy winter day and I absolutely love it. Got a simmer pot going to make it more hygge and read outside on the dry patio with the rain hitting the tin roof. #naturalitsy @Chrissyreadit @jenniferw88 @AllDebooks @TheBookHippie
I loved the vocabulary used. I read it for the litsy children‘s classic read of the month. I love mice stories and horse stories.
Tagged was my favorite book for January but The East Indian gave it a run for it‘s money.
My reading buddy stole my arm and my blankets. He spent the night at gramma‘s to get groomed and now he is extra needy.
Soft pick. This characters mind was very interesting to live in and was insightful. Through the book she becomes more self aware. It was more of a slice of life story focusing on a neurodivergent character. I liked the structure and representation matters. Glad I read it but the ending seemed rushed and one plot point wasn‘t properly wrapped up.
This book needs more hype. I loved the prose and the story. A great deal happens as the story follows a man‘s life from childhood to fatherhood, yet the precision of language makes it a compact and compelling. 5⭐️
Thank you for the goodies @Chrissyreadit The simmer pot ingredients smell delightful. #naturalitsy This made my day
I liked this one as much as the first one. I like how the author shows value in neurodivergence.
#fridaynightshare #naturalitsy #midwintersolace @Chrissyreadit @jenniferw88 @AllDebooks @TheBookHippie
This is a favorite non-fiction animal book. I also loved a few others written by the author.
#naturalitsy #midwintersolace @TheBookHippie @AllDebooks @jenniferw88 @Chrissyreadit here is one of my family‘s go to winter recipes. Everyone loves it and tastes better as leftovers. you can put a piece of corn bread in the bowl and pour this on top. You can swap out the beef for turkey or bison etc You can add your favorite seasonings or corn. If you don‘t have the right tomato ingredients you can swap them for tomato sauce/crushed/soup.
Very fascinating! Really puts things in perspective and gives you “food for thought”. Did you know there is an Endangered food list? It has plants, animals, and methods of preparing food that are endangered of being extinct. I learned so much and there are some alarming patterns. The author travels the country to research and taste 9 of the 350+ American foods on the list. If you like history, food, travel read this book! TW: animal slaughter
Challenges myself to pick a book and an animal that hasn‘t been picked yet for #fridaynightshare #naturalitsy #midwintersolace I loved this book, read it with a box of tissues. I also loved Water for Elephants, The Life of Pi, Remarkable Creatures, Once There Were Wolves, The Last Beekeeper. @TheBookHippie @jenniferw88 @Chrissyreadit @AllDebooks
Bit disappointed in the execution of a high fantasy. The writing felt middle grade but this is definitely for adults (there is spice). The world building could have been more detailed. The characters that are good were done dirty and it was dark. And there was a very open ending since this is book one in a new series. Could have been better and almost dnf‘d it several times. And it was too long and repetitive in some places.
