An unexpectedly strong reading start to 2025. #auldlangspine and Litsy reviews drove a lot of my book choices this month. I also discovered my library has all of The Apothecary Dairies light novels which sent me into a reading spree one weekend.

My #BookSpinBingo list is ready to go for the month!

Here‘s my #BookSpinBingo card from January. I got one bingo, read 13 books, and finished both my #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin. The ones I enjoyed most were Don‘t Forget to Write, Five-Star Weekend, and What You are Looking for is in the Library. I also really recommend Sing Sing Files, which was not fun at all but an important nonfiction look at wrongful imprisonment.

Overall a great reading month.

Here‘s my Black History Month-inspired #BookSpin list for February! I took my “required” reads for the month (book clubs, buddy reads, library checkouts, some course reading) and finished out the list with books from my TBR for Black History Month. Hoping for some good picks tomorrow!

My January #BookSpinBingo board—with no bingos. I didn‘t realize how close I was until yesterday, but my reading slate is so full right now I probably wouldn‘t have been able to squeeze in that one center square anyway (I‘ve been too free with the library holds lately!). With four read for #AuldLangSpine including my #DoubleSpin, plus #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead, #OokBOokClub and keeping up with the #HashtagBrigade, it was a good reading month!

Cold, snowy weather gave me lots of reading time! I completed several MG books for the Truman preliminary list as well as several other books. I think my favorite was our #LitsyBookClub pick The Book of Doors. I‘ve also continued our long #NoPlaceLikeHolmes read and started a couple new long reads for this year. I‘m thoroughly enjoying A Tree a Day for #NaturaLitsy.

I‘ve a lot of library books out & many due in the next two weeks. I won‘t get to everyone & since I don‘t know what I‘m in the mood for & what I‘ll be able to extend, I‘m just using several spaces for library books

I am finishing my #bookspin book today so after 600 pages I am calling it done (enough) to count for January. Giving me 2 bingos and reading of my #Bookspin book. I didn't get to my #doublespin but I feel okay about that, plenty of time to get to it this year!

As my favorite January poem says 'it's been january for months in both directions' and it looks like we are finally at the end!

Women's Prize for Nonfiction Long list will be announced on Feb 12 so will be spending most of the month trying to get my hand on and reading those, before the Fiction longlist is announced on March 4!

You may note the inclusion of “a zine” at the bottom of the list. I have a bunch of zines that I want to get around to reading. I‘m pretty sure I even know where they are on my shelves. However, I simply have not bothered to pull them off the shelves (no spines!) to get their titles, so if no. 20 is picked, I‘ll just grab a random zine.

Me: I really need to not get so entangled in buddy reads and challenges because February is going to be super busy.
Also Me: Has 16 “assignment“ books 😂

I usually leave my leftover slots open for whatever TBR books come up in my random draw throughout the month (I have a prompt jar), but my personal challenge is that I have to fill them in in order instead of what would strategically make bingos.

Iv had a great 👍 reading 📖 month in January ☺️illness and no work helped so every cloud has a silver lining 😆and it‘s January it‘s cold 🥶 so what else is there to do but cosy on down with some good books 📚 favourites of the month are the 3 wonderful novellas by John Boyne Water Earth & Fire-Fire isn‘t published yet in the USA & has a controversial theme which has caused a lot of discussions,all uncomfortable topics but excellently tackled
