I'm about 75% done with my #BookSpin but it's not a good curl up on the coach story for Friday night reading. So I figured I'd start November's #DoubleSpin

#doublespin is a #dnf. @TheAromaofBooks

Although I wanted to know what happened, I didn't like Eleanor's character, and wasn't keen on picking the book back up. I ended up reading the Wikipedia entry!

CaroPi I hear so much about this book but after 20 pages I just lost the interest ... 16h

Only my coworkers came to my program tonight but we had fun and ate so much leftover Halloween candy. I‘m going to start Better Living Through Birding to prepare for more programming! #doublespin #bookspinbingo

I‘ve loved John O‘Donohue‘s writing in the past. His book of blessings (To Bless the Space Between Us) always has something rich and meaningful to offer, and I‘ve often come across quotations from O‘Donohue‘s work that are exactly what I need when they cross my path. So I had high expectations for this one, having had it on my TBR for some time.

O‘Donohue offers an exploration of Celtic spirituality as he examines friendship, the senses, ⤵️

BarbaraJean (Cont‘d)… solitude, work, aging, and death. Woven throughout is a reverence for beauty and for the natural world. I enjoyed this overall, but often found it meandering & disconnected. Looking back at sections I underlined, there were quite a few gems along the way…so I‘m puzzled as to why it left me underwhelmed.

I read it over 3 months, in fits and starts, and I wonder if it would have read better for me if I‘d dipped into it more frequently—⤵️

BarbaraJean (Cont‘d) …savoring it more consistently. I will probably read this again, more slowly, dipping into chapters and sections as I feel drawn to them.

This was my April #DoubleSpin and I also chose to read it as # 44 for #50x50—“Related to my vocation/profession”—connecting it to my coursework in spiritual direction. @TheAromaofBooks

Both novellas were twists on horror staples - the hitchhiking murder and the babysitter on Halloween. Both were pretty bonkers. I liked The Babysitter Lives a little more, it just dragged at the end. It had the far better protagonist though. The female protagonist of Killer on the Road was very frustrating. I‘d give Killer on the Road 3⭐️ and The Babysitter Lives 4⭐️.
#doublespin read done!

Aside from a couple of very bizarre statements about sexual assault, I actually liked this Miss Marple mystery more than I expected to for a late Christie. The twists and turns are enjoyable, with just enough clues to keep me guessing. As always Emilia Fox's narration is excellent. And now I want to go on a guided tour of historic homes and gardens in England.

willaful I think she actually wrote both this and Curtain fairly early on, but had them published posthumously. 3d
ImperfectCJ @willaful This is a follow-up to A Caribbean Mystery (1964) and was published in 1971, so before her death. 3d

This was such a cute fall romance!

So many people have read this book, so when I saw it TJ Maxx (for a great price) I knew it was time to give it a shot. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This book was loaded with fall vibes! It gave me all the autumn feels while reading it.

The romance was super sweet but basic.

All of the other librarians have read this, loved this, and strongly nudged me to read it. I really thought that it was going to pull a Frederik Bachman and make me ugly cry. I was wrong! It was just sweet! Hooray for not sobbing over this very sweet story. #doublespin #bookspinbingo
