This was a great book to introduce some of the history of Key West through a series of profiles. It helped to explain the somewhat complex vibe of the area which has both progressive LGTBQ and conservative Florida vibes and elements. I particularly enjoyed reading about how the island became the Conch Republic, how the town had the first openly gay mayor in the US, and how the gay community struggled to gain a foothold and grow in Key West.

This was a very short read that gave some interesting ideas for activities and things to do in Key West. My only complaint is that it should be revised and updated as some of the recommended businesses haven‘t been around for several years (unfortunately I won‘t be doing any “scorpion shots” on his trip 🦂😕).

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! We were only in Key West for a day, but it was a delightful place to relax. I ended up drinking the rummiest rum and Coke I've ever had there 😂 1h

Traitor of Redwinter | Ed McDonald

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved being back in Raine‘s world in this second Redwinter book!
There are some familiar story techniques, but McDonald also manages to make it all unique at the same time. I think Raine is a great main character who seems realistic while dealing with extreme situations.
Samara MacLaren is one of my favorite audio narrators, so I recommend listening to this one.
Cannot wait for the next installment!

The April Robin Murders | Ed McBain, Craig Rice

From Amor Towles and up, some options for my May #bookspin and #doublespin --- a #BOTM backlist pick (#ds), and a thrifted book (#bs), in this case relating to my current reading mood of 80s/90s private eye/neo-noir novels, Ed McBain is close enough. I'm 97% through Manhunt: The 12-Day Search For Abraham Lincoln's Killer, so naturally a novel about John Wilkes Booth family history would fit as follow up, right? I just started Amor Towles' latest.

Read4life @MsLeah8417 it‘s a low key, fun challenge to read books on your shelves (physical, digital and audiobooks). You make a list of 100 books, ebooks and/or audiobooks that you‘d like to read. @PuddleJumper rolls 3 numbers each month. You then try to read 1, 2 or all 3 of the rolled books from your list. You can always read any book from your list anytime so you don‘t have to wait for it to be rolled. If a completed # is rolled, you can either replace 3d
Read4life It with another title, consider it a completed number for the month or read the book a number above or below the rolled one. Again, it‘s all fun and just an enjoyable way to tackle your TBR. Hope this helps, @MsLeah8417 If you‘d like to join, just go to the link @CSeydel posted above and tell @PuddleJumper you‘d like to be added to the tag list. 🤓 (edited) 3d

Finished this over breakfast at my favorite cafe. I love this story and really never knowing what‘s going to happen next. The final pages were such a flurry of action too! Now the wait for the next volume begins…. #bookspinbingo #doublespin

I‘m still salty about the Death card, but this was a decent mystery novel with a supernatural twist. I thought it would be lighter, but it is just this side of serious to be a Hallmark Mystery Cozy. Still, it‘s a nice change from gory, high-stakes thrillers, and I really liked the characters. It also sets up nicely for a series or at least a sequel.

DGRachel Also, this is my #doublespin for May. I actually finished one! @TheAromaofBooks 5d

I wasn‘t sure if I was going to like this one because I didn‘t really enjoy the last couple of Emily Henry books. But I really loved this one! I loved Miles and Daphne. I loved all the exploring of Michigan too! I don‘t know if all the places are real, but I wished they were!

This was my #doublespin for May

monalyisha Yes! The “Vacation” book was absolutely a low point for me, too. Glad things are back in action. 5d
TheAromaofBooks Henry's been a mixed bag for me, as I enjoyed Beach Read and Book Lovers, but not Vacation or Happy Place. So I'm interested to give this one a whirl!! 4d
