#ChatterDay vibe is mellow. Having a bit of an asthma/allergy flare up which is messing with my eyes. I did make a stop at the monthly makers market by my house & got some cards, postcard & such.

Now at the coffeeshop with a piece of coffee cake & my usual dirty chai. Starting this book for March as it fills a reading challenge prompt & is my #Roll100 March #90 “Any Backlist” prompt. Still need to run a few errands then home to rest my eyes.👀

Cuilin Well, I had to change my plans cause I got the dates wrong and I thought it was a rugby weekend but no Six Nations till next weekend. I guess I‘ll be reading. I have some catching up to do. 2d

Librarybelle This week has been rough, so it‘s my hope I can rest and read in between administering kitty medications. It‘s breezy yet sunny today at my house, so that helps build up my spirits! 2d

thecheckoutstack I‘ll be snowboarding in the mashed potatoe spring snow and grilling brats in the parking lot today, smoking some trout and catching up on chores tomorrow. 2d

Librarybelle @dabbe At the moment, Zeke is fine. He‘s got 5 medications, with two ending tomorrow and one “as needed” after this morning. Poor kid. The food allergy thing, and he loved that food, has been tough! He and Xander love waking me up every hour for food! 😂 2d

My #Chatterday Saturday started with errands & now I‘m at the coffeeshop to finish writing a manager coaching workshop I am delivering next week. My computer was having issues when I got here & I was hoping it was the universe telling me not to work & to read for #SundayBuddyRead instead, but alas I got it going & now I must focus on getting my work done & catch up with reading & Litsy later. 😬

I did better with the lit part of #FoodAndLit #Netherlands as I ran out of time to cook anything. The imported food section of my grocery store did have this peppermint licorice candy which I‘ll review below. Making this post while taking an errand break of this #Chatterday for coffee, breakfast & some #LitsyLove correspondence.

About the book: I‘ve long been an admirer of Audrey Hepburn & that increased with ⬇️

DebinHawaii …this well-told story of her childhood in the Netherlands & what her family went through during WWII. It was a unique perspective & engrossing, explaining a lot about how that horrible experience shaped Audrey. The author did a lot of research & interviews & it made for a compelling read. This is the third book I read in January that dealt with Nazis & other fascists & I think I need to hold off on the subject the next month or two! 😵‍💫⬇️ (edited) 1mo

DebinHawaii It‘s just too close to home right now! 😳Pairing it with food is a little difficult since the lack of food for Audrey & her family in 1945 led to malnutrition & life-long issues for the actress. The licorice ice I bought is called schoolkrijt or krijtjes & wasn‘t invented until the 1960s. I‘m not a big licorice fan but the peppermint softens the taste. Overall, not bad. I bought cheese too & will try to share it later on. (edited) 1mo

I‘m enjoying my visit with my sister. I‘m staying with her this weekend after her cataract surgery. I‘m a little nervous about leaving tomorrow and having her drive herself. Next week I come back for surgery her other eye!
Luckily my son lives in the same town, so I got to see him also.
I‘m reading Eight Hundred Grapes 🍇 🍷 and enjoying it.

tpixie @dabbe thanks. It‘s good to be with my sister! She‘s a widow and I just can‘t have her be by herself after a surgery … she probably didn‘t really need me too much, but I think it is comforting for her to have me here. I‘m not certain so feel comfortable to drive tomorrow… it‘s weird after cataract surgery, you don‘t have glasses that work right for you. And she can‘t get a correct pair until four weeks after her next surgery next week. 1mo

dabbe @tpixie I went through the same thing with my mom, though she was able to stay home and didn't drive. You'd think the docs in this day and age would be able to do something for just this situation! I'll be keeping my 🤞🏻 that all goes well. 🩶🩷🩶 1mo

DogMomIrene A neighbor of ours had cataract surgery a couple years ago. Her son drove her for the actual surgery, but we drove her for the follow up. Does your sister use Uber or Lift? I know they‘re not ideal services, but in a pinch they may work. 1mo

tpixie @DogMomIrene she can use uber. We talked about that. I had to leave yesterday because I work this week. And then I‘ll be back on Thursday for her second surgery. She did have a Friend drive her to bridge yesterday. Hopefully she knows her limits 1mo

DogMomIrene @tpixie Sounds like she does! And I‘m impressed with how quickly people recover from cataract surgery these days. I remember my grandmother having multiple surgeries with long recovery times and not always great results. Sending her some healing vibes. 1mo

Great news! 🗞️ she went to where she buys her glasses regularly & he‘s going to set her up with a pair of clear lenses on top & readers on the bottom with 1 of her old pairs of glasses. For free! She‘s been a loyal customer for a long time. Great customer service! She did drive there & was nervous about it & now she has a headache and is a little nauseated. The clear glasses on top I think will help with that! (edited) 4w
