Past Reason Hated (An Inspector Banks Mystery)
Past Reason Hated (An Inspector Banks Mystery) | Peter Robinson
7 posts | 6 read | 2 to read
Its the holiday season in a peaceful Yorkshire village, but there are no glad tidings for Caroline Hartley, brutally stabbed to death in her own home. Her body, naked and bloody, is found by her lover, Veronica, three days before Christmas. Detective Constable Susan Gay and Chief Inspector Alan Banks must unravel Carolines enigmatic past to discover her killer. This is no small task, as the suspects include Veronicas ex-husband, a feminist poet, the cast and crew of Carolines play, and Carolines reclusive brother. Gay, recently promoted, has much at stake professionally, and Banks is keen to solve this puzzle, but family secrets and hidden desires must first come to light. Fifth in the critically acclaimed Inspector Banks Mystery Series.

Day 28 Staycation
Last year we had a staycation at Weymouth in NE Tasmania. It was a new location for us, but since then I have read several novels that feature the other Weymouth, including Emma and Jane Fairfax!

I‘ve been on quite the Robinson jag lately, and I have several more on tap, so no end in sight. I‘ve been reading them in order, so I finished this before Wednesday‘s Child. This was my #DoubleSpin for February, but I moved it to March after I didn‘t get to it. An engrossing read as always! We‘re introduced to DC Susan in this installment, and I wasn‘t very fond of some of her attitudes at first, but she‘s growing on me.

In the end not a terrible month, but March will be better! I also finished my #DoubleSpin from January, The Book of Eels, which I reviewed earlier. I didn‘t get to my #Doublespin for February, the tagged book, so I‘ve put it on my March list. The way the numbers fell I had two Robinson books that precede Reason in the series, and I didn‘t want to read it out of order, but now I‘m there! Love #Bookspin & #BookSpinBingo! @TheAromaofBooks

Inspector Banks series #5. I started to read these long ago and then stopped for some reason. No idea why, as I enjoy(ed) Robinson‘s writing. Not too much to differentiate it between many other British police procedurals but it‘s a solid and enjoyable read, if you like the genre. Banks is an interesting but typically flawed character, and since I‘ve watched the ITV series DCI Banks, I won‘t be able to separate him from his TV character. 4⭐️ #2019

One book had disappeared. It was at the library this morning... someone had turned books the other way around at the holds shelves, so some other stupid things might have happened as well ☹️🤯🤬

Tove_Reads @andrew65 Three books set in Scotland, two on the islands 🙃 You probably understand how hard it is for me to choose where to begin... 6y
TrishB Love the Jane Casey ones 👍🏻 6y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Very difficult Choice, think I‘d go with the two Scotland Island ones first. The Lewis Man followed closely by Blue Lightning (which is a very important book in the Shetland Series). (edited) 6y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 Both are def high on the list. The stone circle just smells so good, because it‘s new, and I was the first one to get my hands on it! 6y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Another great series, love the Ruth Galloway series. Not read The Stone Circle yet. (edited) 6y
