marleed @TheAromaofBooks Indeed! It all started when all my sisters gathered and Sister2‘s home for a reunion of sorts. Sister2 had a stack of JG paperbacks in her donation bin. I noted I liked JG books. Sister1 asked which ones, and I drew a complete blank on the title or specific story of any JG read. I silently decided then/there to read/reread his canon. Sister1 has sadly passed away, but I‘m sticking to my JG goal! 2w

Is Litsy turning me into a person who can understand literary fiction? Or has literary fiction just changed for the better? This is complex yet also so readable. Tookie is one of those unforgettably real narrators, and the old and new traumas she processes as she struggles through 2020 are infinitely resonant.

Ruthiella I wonder if your perception of lit fic is maybe too narrow. At least to me, it doesn‘t mean difficult, lyrical, experimental, etc. It‘s any book that doesn‘t otherwise fit into a specific genre. 8mo

From Amor Towles and up, some options for my May #bookspin and #doublespin --- a #BOTM backlist pick (#ds), and a thrifted book (#bs), in this case relating to my current reading mood of 80s/90s private eye/neo-noir novels, Ed McBain is close enough. I'm 97% through Manhunt: The 12-Day Search For Abraham Lincoln's Killer, so naturally a novel about John Wilkes Booth family history would fit as follow up, right? I just started Amor Towles' latest.

SO Saturday is looking crazy-busy, starting with a hike that has a 6am departure time because my dad is crazy 😂 Consequently, I've decided that since it's actually already September 2 for half the world, that's good enough, and I am posting the numbers TONIGHT!!! Surprise!!!
