And book 1 of my cruise has been completed! On to the next!
Pretty good. Easy read.
Molly the Head Maid is on the job in the impressive hotel. The novel takes the reader back to Molly‘s youth and then into the current day. Molly follows her beloved Gran into the professional role as a maid. A well known author is murdered in the hotel‘s new tea room. As the mystery unfolds we learn more about the author, Molly, Gran, and other employees of the hotel. I would call this a cozy novel. 4/5
I think this one is better than the first!
Molly the Maid is back, and this time a famous author dies during a press conference at the hotel. The reader learns a bit more about Molly‘s past with her grandmother and how current events interconnect with the past. Another good mystery, and I did not find Molly‘s thoughts and awkwardness as hard to read as in the first book.
Molly is back and has embraced the changes since book 1. This was an enjoyable follow up and I liked the audiobook narration.
Enjoyable read, but I definitely liked the first book better. Decent on audio - except toward the end, it almost got screechy when doing the older lady voices who were excited. I had to turn the volume down (because I, myself, am becoming an older lady it seems 😂)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Four years after the events of “The Maid”, “The Mystery Guest” follows Molly Gray as another unexpectedly murder occurs, this time to a world- renown mystery writer. “The Mystery Guest” doesn‘t disappoint in this sequel, and I loved the characters and the several plots twists as well!
1. Going with my grandpa on the weekends I stayed with him!
2. BOTM, Amazon, library and a favorite indie bookstore
3. Tagged and bunch more!

After walking around Prague all day I was excited to see the #bookspinbingo picks! I've lost track of the day being on vacation 😂 @TheAromaofBooks
This was a great follow up to The Maid. The MC, Molly, blossoms as her self-confidence increases. Juan is away to visit family and Molly is on her own planning and delivering impeccable service at a special reception. The event is marred, when the guest of honor drops dead. Molly‘s attention to details reveals the guest‘s darkest secrets and a killer. It‘s a 4/5 ⭐️ pick for this celebration of family, friends and understanding our differences.
I've loved having Molly the Maid back. She is as endearing, entertaining, and quirky as ever.
I much preferred this to "The Maid" as we got to know Molly more, and she had some corker one-liners. Feel good, cheesy, unique, and fun. A huge thumbs up from me!
I really enjoyed spending time with Molly Gray again in this sequel to the Maid. Another solid mystery with quirky characters and a calming setting in a charming English boutique hotel. I really enjoy this series and look forward to more! #BookspinBingo #BOTM @TheAromaofBooks
Liked it even more than the first one! It‘s such a cheerful book about murder! Lol Read it very quickly.
4/5 🌟
Molly the Maid has made a triumphant return in the sequel, and I couldn't be happier. Having loved the first book, I was thrilled to find that Molly is as lovely, meticulous, and quirky as ever. The sequel is just as entertaining, and I'm pleased to say it did not disappoint.
The second book starring Molly the Maid. A famous author rents the Tea Room for an important announcement and dies before revealing it. Molly as usual has a memory that remembers everything, and realizes she's met this man before. Told in flashback, Molly remembers cleaning with her Gran at the authors mansion. I found this book not as fun as the first. But still worth reading.

My expectations for this sequel were sky high and so the novel felt a bit short. I missed Juan, found Molly‘s rhymed wisdom a bit twee-er than previously, but thoroughly enjoyed the mystery.
I enjoyed this just as much as I did The Maid. I really like main character Molly, and this mystery focuses on the murder of an author in her beloved hotel.
I think the narration by Lauren Ambrose fits these stories perfectly and recommend them if you like audio.
Although not graphic, CW for sexual harassment.
This is the sequel to “The Maid“ and surprisingly I found it to be even better. Admittedly it is a light, almost cozy mystery, but I have fallen for the quirky and always honest character of Molly and cannot wait to read more of the series. The dialogue is clever and Prose's descriptions of the various settings allow us to be 'there' and yet they never feel to drag on. This one can be read as a stand alone, but the first was also great. 4.5/5
“The Mystery Guest” is the second book in the “Molly the Maid” series. The story revolves around Molly Gray, the Head Maid at the Regency Grand Hotel, who is tasked with uncovering the truth behind the death of J.D. Grimthorpe, a world-renowned mystery author, who dies on the hotel‘s tea room floor. As Detective Stark investigates the author‘s unexpected demise, it becomes clear that this death was murder most foul. • 3.5 Stars
I had three 5⭐️ books in October. All wonderful for different reasons, but I think Molly (from TMG) edged out the other two by just being herself. 😊☀️ Loved getting to know her a little bit better and think I actually enjoyed this one more than its predecessor.

It was so nice to get back to visit Molly and her friends at the hotel, she has such a wonderful perspective on things. Loved ythe mystery and the twists the story took to get there.
More stats. Happy New Year 🥳🥂📚
I‘m not sure I‘ll finish The Mystery Guest before midnight so it might be my technical first book for tomorrow, but my first new book will be Punished for Dreaming. #lastfirst @BookNAround
It was a great reading year! Thanks to @jackilynn for helping me find the website myyearinbooks.com !
Happy New Years Eve! 🥳📚🥳
The epilogue was so sweet!
I like Molly as a character. And I also like that she is helping me learn new vocabulary words. I find that I really missed Gran in present day.
I enjoyed The Maid more than this one... The Maid stuck with me for awhile after finishing. This one, probably won't.
If there are more in this series, I likely won't read them. But this was good enough to recommend to anyone who enjoyed The Maid.

It was great seeing Molly back in action solving another murder! The flashback scenes were good even if they distracted some from the main storyline. I enjoyed this one but I probably liked the 1st one better. I wonder if there will be a third book!
So far Molly doesn‘t disappoint. Nita Prose may be a good editor but she is a great writer ✍️
This book was an absolute delight to read. I enjoyed this one even more than the first book in the series. If you‘re in the market for a cozy mystery filled with lots of heart look no further.
Thanks to Ballantine Books and NetGalley for this ARC in return for my honest review.
Book 75 of 2023
The follow up to The Maid finds a famous novelist dying in a very public, suspicious way. The cast of characters is familiar from the first book with a few new faces thrown in. Lauren Ambrose reads the audio and she is absolutely brilliant! I really enjoyed this. I feel like there‘s potential for another book, but I have no idea if there will be one. If so, I‘m definitely reading it!
I wasn‘t sure if I wanted to pick this up - while I liked the Maid, I had difficulty with how patronizing interactions with Molly came off. I didn‘t get that as much this time around, maybe because I went in with a low bar? I liked the flipping back & forth in time and the mystery but the over-stereotyping was still strong.
I am not into the amateur sleuth trope, but Nita does it well twice now. It had an intricate plot, but it sometimes the backstory pulled me out of the story. I have to admit I didn't guess the culprit, so there's that.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5
I enjoyed the return of Molly and the hotel staff for this fun whodunnit murder mystery. A fast-paced, light read and great follow-up to The Maid.😁☕️
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
This was a fun continuation of Molly the Maid‘s story! I liked learning more about her childhood with her Gran through flashbacks. It didn‘t feel quite as fresh or intriguing as the first book did to me, but it was an enjoyable and endearing cozy mystery overall. The audiobook narrator is great! 🎧
If you‘re a fan of Molly, this is a satisfying read. I wasn‘t keenly invested in the current murder mystery happening at the Regency Grand Hotel wishing instead to sit in the chapters with the younger Molly and her grandmother. But the author eventually pulled me back to current-day Molly and the mystery only Molly could solve.
