This is just a regular murder mystery. It has Agatha Christie vibes which I appreciate. This is the 2nd book in the series.

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! I felt pretty meh towards the first two books in this series. I have book 3 on my shelf for this month, and if I don't feel more enthusiastic about it than I did the first two, I think I'm going to write the rest off, despite several people telling me they get progressively better. 20h
vlwelser @TheAromaofBooks I just finished the third book earlier and I'm firmly still in the meh camp. If I have extra time I might try another this month but I'm way behind with other stuff so 🤷 12h
TheAromaofBooks There are so many mystery series with characters I actually like 😂 Peter kind of gets on my nerves, and I found Sayers's writing to be oddly choppy. 4h
vlwelser @TheAromaofBooks there are SO MANY other options. I just came back because Author A Month 3h

This was likely groundbreaking in the 70s when it was first published. I appreciate the look at psychiatric facilities at the time and what it's like to have no control over your own destiny. The utopia in the future was meh imo. The time travel thing has never been my jam. Still giving it a pick.

I really enjoy this author and I have no idea why I start every one of her series but never read the next book. Seems like a me issue. She does a great job of pulling cultural details into her fantasy stories. This one is a little bit different somehow. But it's exciting and tense and I liked it very much.

Unpopular opinion time. This is very popular among a certain crowd. And it's fine. But it would be better imo if the author stuck to the hunger games style contest and focused less on the gooey love garbage. Boring! I have 0 plans to continue this series.

#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks A whole series off the list! Nice! 😁 3w
vlwelser @TheAromaofBooks 😂🤣 you sure your middle name isn't Pollyanna? That has to be the best way to look at this. 3w
TheAromaofBooks So many books, so little time; I am honestly sometimes relieved when I don't like the first book in a series😂 As for Pollyanna - for real, a long time ago I read an article or something and the author was saying that if you want to be happy you have to practice, and just like learning a song on the piano where if you practice your fingers start automatically going to the right keys, that if you practice being happy/grateful, it will start to ⬇ 3w
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) come more easily. So I began cultivating my inner Pollyanna and even though obviously I'm not perfect at it, it's amazing to me how tugging out those silver linings really does make life a little brighter!!! 3w
vlwelser @TheAromaofBooks it makes things better for everyone around you too. I try to do it as much as possible and I appreciate it in others. 3w

This one made my head explode. The author combines the tragedy of fleeing Vietnam during the war with refugee camps and turns to internment camps and does a great job of depicting what it's like to basically lose 3 years of your life to something you have no control over. 5 out of 5 stars. Definitely recommend.

Someone told me to read the Discworld books but definitely not to start with Book 1. And I read nearly every single one of the other 40ish books and just read this one right now. And in a way I'm glad I didn't read it first because it's not my favorite but I do wish I still had some of the better ones left to read. 😔 I may just need to reread ones I already know are my favs.

Ruthiella I started smack dab in the middle by chance with “The Truth” but I don‘t know that The Color of Magic would have put me off. It is a little rambling, but the humor is there. I‘m still making my way through the series. (edited) 1mo
