This is just a regular murder mystery. It has Agatha Christie vibes which I appreciate. This is the 2nd book in the series.

This is pretty fun. If you need a fantasy palette cleanser. With some polyamory. Honestly? Who doesn't?
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
I thought this was an interesting audiobook. It looks at tv and film and how things have changed over time.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This is one of those disgruntled with life books that seems to be on trend in Japan. It's well written short stories and I was definitely drawn into all of them. I definitely appreciate this cover.

I enjoyed this a lot. There's a mystery. There's time travel. It's entertaining. My brain hates time travel books but I liked this anyway. The author is a good storyteller.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This was likely groundbreaking in the 70s when it was first published. I appreciate the look at psychiatric facilities at the time and what it's like to have no control over your own destiny. The utopia in the future was meh imo. The time travel thing has never been my jam. Still giving it a pick.

I picked this fantasy book, though the scifi looked good too. This is def my genre but I usually skip this geo. We'll see how this goes. 🤞
#Aardvark @AardvarkBookClub
I really enjoy this author and I have no idea why I start every one of her series but never read the next book. Seems like a me issue. She does a great job of pulling cultural details into her fantasy stories. This one is a little bit different somehow. But it's exciting and tense and I liked it very much.

This one is stunning. My book club probably hates me rn for picking it. This tells the story of a family of refugees that fled Vietnam in the 1970s. And events that happened concurrently.

This is super fun and a great feminist fairytale retelling. And fantastic cover.

This felt like 2 separate books and it maybe should have been a series. This is very long. Finished this on the DC Metro because who doesn't carry a kindle everywhere?
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
I loved this. Set in France when the pope was in Avignon, during a plague, a young woman tries to increase her medical knowledge while also not being turned into a scapegoat. Highly recommend.

This ended up in my carryon somehow. Hate when that happens. 😂 tagged is last year's.
Unpopular opinion time. This is very popular among a certain crowd. And it's fine. But it would be better imo if the author stuck to the hunger games style contest and focused less on the gooey love garbage. Boring! I have 0 plans to continue this series.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This is very cute. It has all of the good YA fantasy things. Adventure, intrigue, romance, and a mystery. And a pretty cover.

This one made my head explode. The author combines the tragedy of fleeing Vietnam during the war with refugee camps and turns to internment camps and does a great job of depicting what it's like to basically lose 3 years of your life to something you have no control over. 5 out of 5 stars. Definitely recommend.

This was a bit chaotic and unfocused but it may have been a result of the audiobook. Or I may have been in a mood.

Someone told me to read the Discworld books but definitely not to start with Book 1. And I read nearly every single one of the other 40ish books and just read this one right now. And in a way I'm glad I didn't read it first because it's not my favorite but I do wish I still had some of the better ones left to read. 😔 I may just need to reread ones I already know are my favs.

This drew me into the characters. I don't know that it would have been a top choice but it was on a friend's tbr so I gave it a whirl. Between this and Piglet, I appreciate that we like different things 😂

This guy's books are always funny and his characters are sort of a mess. Like real people. I mostly admire the translator tbh.

This is French Revolution + vampires. It's the second book in the series and it has Mont Saint Michel on the cover so how could I not read it?
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This is really well written. Somehow the author pulls 9/11 and the pandemic into a mystery of sorts centered around economically privileged people who seem ridiculous at times but not comically. It's good. Definitely recommend.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
I loved this. Historical fiction set in the 1980s on Fire Island amid the AIDS pandemic with some magical realism thrown in.

Meh. These are entertaining. This series inspired me not to request ARCs that are part of a series. This is 9 and I have an ARC of 18 somewhere in my secret book closet.

I was apparently having a big mood when I stuck the title on this 😂

This is lovely. I definitely recommend it. By the author of Iona Iverson, this is just as fun. I love all of her characters.

This is pretty spooky horror. The mother is in a coma of sorts but she moves around when no one is paying attention. The narrator acts like a petulant child at times. I started questioning if they were all ghosts. Amazing.

I think this goes back to being as good as her earlier books. Definitely recommend.

This was just meh. But it might be ok if you're a new manager and didn't already read dozens of these. Julie is a Facebook veteran and does talk about some of her more senior coworkers but overall 🤷
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This was somewhat entertaining. I don't think it holds up against the other booker shortlist books but I didn't correctly pick the winner so what do I know?
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
I absolutely loved this. A middle aged woman loses the plot and starts a campaign to ban books that she thinks are bad for young people to read (she's bored and needs attention) and the town retaliates in rather spectacular ways. I wish my book club had picked this one but oh well. I also loved The Change so read that too.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This was really good and it sucked me right in. It has a lot of cultural references to numerology and other superstitions from Chinese culture. Set in Malaysia during UK colonial rule. I feel inspired to read her latest book.

I normally love murder mysteries set in Iceland. But this is just a normal mystery by an American (totally assuming this) that happens to be set in Iceland. And I clocked the killer way early. It was entertaining as far as standard mysteries go. Just don't expect it to be anything more than that.

I'll read anything with a rabbit on the cover. Go ahead and judge me. Bunnies are awesome and I will defend this opinion. This book is also quite great. Very big brother meets Fahrenheit 451.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
I like dystopian fiction. Like please give me all of it right now. This one has an interesting concept. Basically all of the white people have drowned themselves in a mass event. The ones left behind are a mix of joyful and lost. It reminded me weirdly of Underground Airlines.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This is cute. I mean there's serial killers and stuff. But it's pretty fluffy regardless.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
I love dystopian fiction. I like them weird and pretty dark. Bonus points if they're translations from unknown authors. I definitely recommend this if those things sound good to you. I definitely finished this while at a bar drinking water because I no longer give any fucks apparently.

This book looks like it's fluffy based on the cover but it's about internet privacy for minors. A teen wants to stop her mother from sharing her life and that of her siblings on the internet but it's basically the family's only income source.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This is basically a love story set against the end of a divided Germany. I think it was well written. But tbh it took me forever to get into this and it might be my only Erpenbeck for the time being.
