Map of Days | Ransom Riggs

I‘ve been enjoying swiping through everyone‘s #readingbracket2024 this year and finally thought to sit and make mine! Hahaha so far, Fredrick Backman‘s beautiful short novel on memory and loss is pitted against The Invisible Life of Addie Larue, although a Map of Days and Kristin Hannah‘s The Four Winds were pretty fantastic these past couple months as well! I didn‘t realize how tricky this would be to fill!

Such a satisfying end to the third book in this series. I didn‘t know how they were going to wrap it up. I thought “surely, it can‘t end this way?!” Then it all came home beautifully 🥹 can‘t wait to start Map of Days!

First Audio book to kick off the year! As an outreach librarian myself, this was a super fun read! I had it recommended by one of my outreach patrons and was instantly drawn into the story and the parallels of life I shared with the main character. So fun! Also gut wrenching, tear jerking, gasp inducing and at many different times made me want to linger in the car listening just a second longer.

Give me your best of the best, favorite, must-read-first picks from these authors! I‘m an outreach librarian that does a lot of readers advisory but has never actually read these authors that my patrons are always asking for🙈😂. I‘m gonna put together a list and make myself a challenge this year. Please and thank you!!🥰

Mehso-so

Read this third book to finish the set but wasn‘t really wowed by any of them. These were a recommendation for me and I can see why they would be popular (particularly if you grew up reading Shannon Hale‘s Princess Academy, you will love this!) but they are just so full of cliches. Just enough freshness to keep me reading and some twists. But, let‘s just say if you‘re an eye-roller, save yourself the headache you will get from reading this one 😂

Not how I expected to finish this book😂🙈 but I knocked it out before it was due! Audiobooks are absolutely MADE for sick days!☺️

This was my first Stephen King read/listen and I really liked it! I‘m not much of a horror reader so I figured a fantasy-leaning book would make for a great intro to his work! I highly recommend the audio! So fun and the author even makes a cameo!

Perfect read/listen for the start of 2023!

I closed out 2022 with “The Power of Habit”, so this was a great way to turn that information into some practical steps for making sustainable change in my habits and routines going into 2023! 10/10 recommend!
Also, getting ready to graduate and am raring to get back into my reading groove! Trying to decide which challenges I want to join in on in this new year and I feel like a kid in a candy store!

Last-Minute-Readathon is off to a start with finishing this gem of a book! These are mine and my younger sister Abby‘s TBR stacks for this readathon. Douglas Adams writes the most brilliant nonsense I‘ve ever read in my entire life!

The Bear | Andrew Krivak

Wow...just wow! Krivak slowly and tenderly swallows you with his depictions of the great and quiet forest. Before you know it, you‘re surrounded by trees feeling the cold water of a spring washing over your bare toes with the smell of pine and rich soil in the air. I loved every minute of this book, even though it took me a lot longer than intended because of school!

I‘m finally sufficiently recovered from a long and grueling year of grad school to want to read for fun again! Gotta catch up ok some cool titles I‘ve heard about but been too busy to read. 📚🤓

First thing on the list, The Bear by Andrew Krivak. I left off with 20 pages to go right before school started and really wanna see how it ends!🐻

I grew up in a house full of books with a family that made frequent trips to the library. For some reason, I never really thought to buy my own. Any trip to the bookstore was always to add to our collection of schoolbooks (I was homeschooled.) So, to get to start my own collection, and have a bookcase that is all my own...I am just so excited and loving it! All that to say-look at the pretty new lights I just put up! 😍#storytime #mybooks #inlove

Feeling suuuper cozy and Christmassy (is that a word?) tonight🎄I‘ve got my flannel sheets down for the cold front that‘s coming in tonight, Christmas lights are up in my room, I went to a vespers choir performance this afternoon, and to top it off, I‘m reading the Christmas chapter in this lovely little book!❄️

Loved, loved, LOVED this book! When I started reading it, I thought it wouldn‘t be worth the hype, but man, it proved me wrong! So many feelings packed into one book, I stayed up late into the night alternately crying and then laughing out loud at how much I could relate to Eleanor‘s social awkwardness 😂 🤦🏽‍♀️ Great book!
