Menopause means metamorphosis for Nessa, Jo, and Harriett. Nessa hears the voices of the dead; Jo‘s rage can be channeled into energy and Harriett‘s green thumb is more powerful than the average gardener‘s. When the body of a young girl shows up, the three must use their powers to solve the case. Gives a hard look at society and what people of power can get away with.

OMG THIS BOOK. Things I love:
•commentary on women‘s status in society
•strong female friendships
•NO FEAR in sharing their gifts/powers with each other

This book isn‘t about the acquisition of powers, but how Jo, Nessa, and Harriet use them to solve three murders.

If you like strong, female characters, a little magic, and true crime. I 1000% suggest it.

Asher Todd is an unlikely governess who is sent to the Morwood Grange to look after the three Morewood children after their previous governess disappears. Although Asher isn‘t formally schooled in typical academics, she has a wealth of knowledge of herbs and stories which she uses to unravel and create mysteries at the manor.

Two days late, but May was a fun month to read through. Had a mixture of suspense, murder, and fantasy! The Midnight library definitely won top prize this month, but Tress and the Emerald Sea was a very close second!

This Midnight Library is not one of ghosts. It is not a library of corpses. It is a library of possibility. And death is the opposite of possibility.

Societal and political tensions in Ireland are high when Maeve discovers her unusual knack for tarot. Unknowingly, she plunges herself into a repeated story of loss and sacrifice. She, along with her group of outcasts, must work to free her ex-best friend from the realm of the unknown. I loved the Irish folklore, magic, and teenage angst in this book! Fast paced and entertaining.

Beth abruptly finds out her husband is suspected of murder on a seemingly normal Tuesday night. As the investigation continues, more evidence materializes along with more women found dead by Tom‘s hand. Beth tries to help police, but has her own secrets to hide. Similar premise to The Final Hunt by Audrey J Cole but without the backdrop of the Alaskan Wilderness. I found Beth… flaky and unreliable throughout, but still a great fast read!

Beautiful day to read on a break from feeding the baby! Liking the book so far. Very similar to The Final Hunt, but less action-packed.

Two 19 year olds disappear after attending a pool party with local teens. The case goes cold and no leads are found until a detective writer finds a mysterious sign saying “dig here” which brings new leads to the investigation. This book explores how manipulative relationships come in different forms, all claiming love, but actually thinly veiled attempts for control.

I picked this book back up after sidelining it November 2022. I didn‘t think it was going to capture my interest, but having read over 200 pages in a day in a half, it has its claws in me and I‘m LOVING it.

Picked up this one up after I started it back in Nov. 2022… I‘m struggling to be invested. Is it worth the read??

I thought I loved Mistborn… but I love this one more. Gave me the nostalgic vibes of Treasure Planet and the Wizard of Oz. Fantastic book. Fantastic character development. So many wonderful nuggets of wisdom.

I can‘t tell you how much I‘ve enjoyed this story. I have always been a fan of Sanderson, but these characters have taken my heart!

I had a high hopes for this book, but was left unenthused. I felt like Brigid, the main character (or I thought), was underdeveloped and flat. The buildup was great, but the final fight scene wasn‘t worth it. I liked learning about different religions and the magic in all religions.

Took me a while to get into the book but enjoyed it nonetheless. Kept a great pace, although I would have liked to see some important side characters fleshed out a bit more (Arnie). While it was. Good book, I don‘t know if I will read the other books in the series. I liked it as a standalone book.

Light, funny read. Perfect for a beach/pool read. Lightly touches on family interactions, grief, death, drug addiction, and persecution. Loved the theme of being true to yourself and living out your life without fear.

It was a rough book for me personally. Loved the idea of the book, but struggled with being thrown into the universe without much introduction. Once I got through the first 30 pages, it went a little smoother. Glad I read it, especially with the rise of AI and the blurring of lines between human and machine. Might reread with a better understanding of the universe.
