Junes story begins on a tiny farm in a sleepy little railroad town, buried in the depths of rural America. Dont look too closely at the sagging porches and the chipping paint. Through Junes eyes, its a place where nothing is as it seems, a place full of secrets. June lives with people who claim to be her family; shes not sure. Pieces are missing. Words and actions are out of sync. They cause so much pain and suffering. Can she be related to these people who say they are her family? These people ... they make her do things, things that arent talked about. Lying back very still, very quiet, June begins to feel the pull of the water, the twisting, the turning, finding herself in a puddle in the center of a meadow filled with wildflowers of all colors. On the path up ahead, she senses movement. Within seconds, a magnificent black panther stands before her. Tigua becomes her guardian and protector and helps her discover the power she has available. The power buried deep inside. Tigua gives her the strength to take back her body, take back her life. In this other world, she discovers the real meaning of family and the responsibility it holds. The Great Seer gives her the perspective of a warrior, equipping her with the wisdom and courage to fight the battle that threatens to consume her life. With the help of her guides, she learns what love is, and armed with that love she throws open the doors to all of their secrets, freeing those who came before and those who come after.

#Goodreads Mid-Year Check-In. Huzzah!

How are y‘all doing?

5feet.of.fury I have a 50,000 page goal on storygraph and I‘m 9,056 ahead of schedule! I‘m at 91 books so far. I didn‘t set a book goal because sometimes it dissuades me from reading chunksters. 11mo
suvata @5feet.of.fury Way to go! I might try the page goal myself next year. I do read a lot of chunksters and it really does affect my book goal. 11mo
5feet.of.fury @suvata I can‘t believe how quickly this year is flying by! Congrats on being ahead of schedule! 11mo

I‘m late, but I‘m joining the #JoyousJune Readathon. This is my best shot at reading before my big trip to Buffalo & Wisconsin so I‘d like to soak in as many books as I can before the road trip.

I previous finished Woman World, The Friendship Pact and The Merciless ones.

Currently reading: The Best Bad Things, Bad Blood and a Solitude of Wolverines.

Everything else is on tap!

Bookwormjillk Is that all one trip? 2y
kimmypete1 @Bookwormjillk yep! I‘m driving from VA to Buffalo for a wedding, from Buffalo to WI to see family and then back home to VA. 2y

On that note, I‘ll be joining in the #BigJuneReadathon My yearlong readathon goals have been pretty much shot to shit since March. I‘ve only read in 5months what I‘d read in less than two months in a good year!😱So on that depressing stat, my goals are:
📚Read at least 10 books. Please?🙏
✔️Cross off 5 prompts from my challenges
📸Do some of the #PhotoChallenge as well
💪Get my reading superpower back!🦹🏻‍♀️

So I have been out of town and am a little behind on posting the reminder for June's #BookSpin & #BookSpinBingo !!! Some of you have already posted your lists, so sorry if you are getting tagged when you have already done your work!! Just got back from an absolutely FABULOUS week in the upper peninsula so I thought I would post a pic of our view this past week from the cabin we stayed in. I am IN LOVE with this region and am ready to go back!! ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) Here is the craziest part of this post - I'm posting this because it is ALMOST JUNE!! J-U-N-E! Halfway through the year! What is happening?!?!?

At any rate, if you're interested in playing along with #BookSpin, #DoubleSpin, and/or #BookSpinBingo for June(!!!!), it's time to start thinking about your lists!!! With my new 2022 system, I am using the SAME TAG LIST all year ⬇
2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) so if you are tagged on this post, you already automatically on the tag list for June. If you would like to be ADDED or REMOVED from the tag list, please just let me know!!

Below are the basics of challenge, plus the link to the very rambly explanation of the rules of the challenge, plus the link to the Google Form where you can enter your BookSpin & DoubleSpin reads for the end-of-the-year giveaway!!

Can't wait to see your ⬇
2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) June lists!!!

1/5 - The rules for this challenge can be found by reading my masterpost on my blog (off Litsy) - https://thearomaofbooks.wordpress.com/bookspin-bookspinbingo-litsy-challenge - but the basics: if you want to play, make a list of 20 books you've been meaning to read & tag me when you post it!!

2/5 - You do NOT have to participate in the Bingo part of the challenge if that isn't your thing!! You can just read the ⬇
2y
See All 78 Comments
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) BookSpin or DoubleSpin or however many books works for you! Basically, choose a reading level that fits your life, and feel free to change it from month to month!!
3/5 - Just a reminder that the rules here are pretty loose!! If you have a huge/challenging book, feel free to let it take up more than one square. Some people struggle with super specific lists & prefer to go with categories (i.e. library book, Netgalley, mystery, from the ⬇
2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) living room shelf, etc.), which is also fine! You can make separate lists for BookSpin & DoubleSpin so that you read one book from each. This year, I have a list of challenging books that I am using to read the BookSpin number from each month, but then make a list of my month's TBR to use for the bingo part. Make this challenge work for you!! Just ask if you have questions about whether something is “allowed“ - most of the time the ⬇ 2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) answer is yes!!

4/5 - Remember, if you didn't finish your May BS/DS, you can still check it off at any point in 2022. If you wish to participate in the end-of-the-year giveaway, each completed (or DNF'd) BS/DS read counts as an entry!! This year, everyone is in charge of tracking their OWN ENTRIES for this giveaway!! This is being done via Google Form. You are also welcome to use this form even if you don't want to enter the ⬇
2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) giveaway, just don't put in your name/address. I won't be looking at these forms until the end of the year, so you can either add your entries throughout the year, or add them in one big batch in December, whatever works best for you!! The form can be found here - https://forms.gle/X57ePKzuHpsqLjE5A - please remember that once you start a form, you need to SAVE THE LINK that Google will email to you so that you can edit your form!! ⬇ 2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) 5/5 - Thank you all SO MUCH for your participation and enthusiasm!!! I LOVE seeing everyone's posts and hearing about how this challenge is helping you tackle the neverending, ever-growing TBR!!! As always, please just ask if you have ANY questions!!! You all are the best!!! ❤ ❤ ❤ 2y

bookandbedandtea How beautiful! I've never been to that area. I'm working on my list and will have it ready this weekend. 2y
AmyG It‘s so peaceful. Is this Michigan? (edited) 2y
TheAromaofBooks @JenReadsAlot - We stayed in a house about 10 miles south of Munising. We rented it through Pictured Rocks Vacation Rentals and they were really nice to work with and the house was exactly as described. We really love having our own house when vacationing - we do almost all our meals “at home“ that way haha It was really a great jumping off point to see Pictured Rocks, of course, but also to do a bit of wandering in other directions. 2y
TheAromaofBooks @AmyG - Yes!! Central UP area, south of Munising. It was sooo beautiful! The whole region is full of lakes!! 2y
BacklistReader I just had my partner help me put my list together. 2y
JenReadsAlot That's exactly where I was looking! Hoping to hit fall colors cause I think it would be beautiful! 2y
vonnie862 What a beautiful view! 2y
TheAromaofBooks @JenReadsAlot - We absolutely loved our location - this was the Lost Lake Cabin on their website, but they have a bunch in the area at a variety of price ranges and sizes haha I did notice that it's definitely more expensive in the fall, but I also think the colors would be amazing to see. It's way earlier spring there than here (central Ohio) so we were surprised at how much spring color and wildflowers we got while we were there!! 2y
JenReadsAlot I'll check that website out for sure! Thanks! I'm over in Wisconsin! 2y
TheAromaofBooks @JenReadsAlot - There seemed to be tons of little motels and other places to stay as well, plus campsites, so I'm sure you'll find the perfect match!! I'm pretty much ready to buy a summer cabin there LOL 2y
ferskner Oh my gosh that looks like perfection! 2y
claudiuo So so beautiful. Thanks for sharing. As for my lists .. can't believe May is almost over. I'll have mine done this weekend. Thank you so much for the reminder. 2y
candc320 Thanks for the reminder! Looks beautiful! 2y
Catsandbooks I miss the UP so much!! I lived in Houghton, MI for almost 10 years and it's one of my favorite places ever! So much beauty. If you ever get the chance, you should visit the keweenaw peninsula. Especially Copper Harbor during the fall. Brockway mountain has an absolutely amazing view. Fitzgerald's in eagle Harbor is an awesome restaurant. If anyone ever wants any other tips I'd be happy to share. I miss it so much! @JenReadsAlot (edited) 2y
JamieArc Love seeing some Michigan love ❤️ Love the UP, though it‘s been a few years since I‘ve been up there. Kayaking along the Pictured Rocks lakeshore is a must-do if you‘re into that sort of thing. I just don‘t suggest doing it during a thunderstorm 😆 2y
Clwojick I have big plans for June, so I‘m struggling to narrow down my list 😅 Hoping to work on it tonight! 2y
Soubhiville That looks like a great place to spend a relaxing week! 2y

wanderinglynn Gorgeous view! 💚 2y
Sarahreadstoomuch Beautiful! That‘s my kind of vacation- it screams quiet relaxation 😊 2y
Eggs Of course I‘m in! Late with my list tho 🙃 I LOVE the UP 🌳💦☀️ 2y
TheAromaofBooks @Catsandbooks - We were just too far away to make it all the way to the Keweenaw Peninsula (made it as far west as Marquette) but I have an entire list of things that looked awesome in that region haha It must have been hard to move away, although I'm sure the winters there are challenging!! 2y
TheAromaofBooks @JamieArc - We just didn't have time for everything on this trip, but that is definitely on the list for next time because it looked amazing! We also really wanted to do the glass-bottomed boat tour of the shipwrecks, but that tour doesn't start running until Memorial Day weekend, so we were just a few days too early. Have to save something for next time, though!! 2y
TheAromaofBooks @Megabooks - It's super handy because neither my husband nor I particularly loves the beach. The ocean about once a decade or so is enough for us haha We are usually into mountains, but all the lakes, streams, waterfalls, and rocks really won me over in the UP! 2y
TheAromaofBooks @Karons1 - It's the Upper Peninsula of Michigan - we stayed south of Munising, which is about in the middle!! 2y
Bookzombie I‘m glad your vacation was fabulous. Your photo is beautiful! I‘m so behind and can‘t believe the month is nearly over. I will get my list together soon. 🙂 2y
Eggs Sarah I entered all my BS & DS books YTD in your Google form ☺️ 2y
BookNAround I spend my summers in the Eastern UP. It‘s the place of my heart. 2y
Grrlbrarian Will get my list up soon! 👍And so glad you had a wonderful vacay 🌞 (edited) 2y

Librarianaut Also…may I get on the #bookspin list, too? 2y
TheAromaofBooks @Maggie4483 @Librarianaut - I added you both to the list!!! Just let me know if you have any questions - this is a pretty laid-back challenge!! 😁 2y

I can‘t believe I actually read 12 books this month. It felt like the slowest, worst month in ages, probably since I started half a dozen other books and put them aside for now. An even split between print and audio, but only 3 for #MountTBR. My favorites are in the top row, but everything I finished was good - nothing less than 3 1/2 stars.

I‘ve been a bit MIA lately, I‘ve been bitten hard by the gardening bug which I‘m also using for physiotherapy goals to try and build up my strength again. But it‘s at the cost of my reading coz I‘m too tired and sore to even pick up a book😱So this #JoysOfJune #readathon has come at the perfect time. My goals for this are:
🌸 Finish at least one book!
🌸 Get in (hopefully) 24hrs of reading time🤞

Thanks for the impetus @Andrew65

Andrew65 Great goals, a Readathon wouldn‘t seem the same without you. Do you do any audio gardening? Good luck. 😊👍 4y
Freespirit Gardening is such a wonderful passtime😍 4y
Crazeedi Yep the garden bug has hit here too! Takes a lot out of one, and too tired to get online! Hope yours is a great success, my hubby always tells me it's all an experiment!😉 4y
Lizpixie @Andrew65 thank you! I don‘t audio garden at all, I love hearing the native birds & the wind in the trees too much. We have a flock of rainbow lorikeets in the bottlebrush tree behind us & there‘s magpies, crows & even a kookaburra🦜 @Freespirit it sure is🌱 @Crazeedi I‘m exhausted every night!
