I‘ve been told that reading to a baby when he/she is in the whom and is able to hear is good for them. So my baby girl and I have been listening to the HP series. ☺️ We will of course be reading it again after she‘s born and is old enough to understand what‘s going on, but for now we‘re enjoying the audiobooks.

I have always wondered why Lydia is so annoying, so terrible, so promiscuous, and just oblivious to what her actions affect her family. 😔
I think this video explains it very well and now I feel bad for Lydia.

How are these people still alive and functioning?!? They get badly beaten, mauled, and stabbed and they keep on reappearing with tons of energy to do more terrible things! 😳🤯
There‘s so many asks and no answers in sight. 😔🤷🏽♀️
I can‘t believe it‘s April 1st already! 😯 Where are the days going?!?
Here is my #March #bookspin2021 #BookSpinBingo #BookSpin #DoubleSpin.
I read 10 books, but I didn‘t get any Bingos 🤷🏽♀️. I was way to scatter brained with my reading this month. 😁 oh well. Hopefully I can do better this month.

Hmm, this one is touching upon some tough subjects, but I‘m liking it. It talks about infertility, which is surprising to me since it seems like a taboo subject. I‘m glad more people are talking about it. Thanks to those who venture out and talk about. It makes some of us feel like we aren‘t alone, the anomaly, the weirdos who can‘t do something that should be a piece of cake. 💜

I finished it about a week ago, but didn‘t know how I was feeling about it.

Ok, so...I had mixed feelings.
Todd lives in a world with “noise.” This noise is the thoughts of men and creatures. There are no women in his town (the only town), because the same germ that caused the noise caused the women to die. Todd will be a man in a month, on his 13th bday and he‘s looking forward to it. He‘s going about his business when he happens upon a patch of quiet, which isn‘t possible in a world with noise... 👇🏽

Short but powerful.
Maleeka, a seventh grader, is being bullied at school because she has dark skin and she wears handmade clothes, among other things. Since her father passed away she had forgotten to see how beautiful and smart she is instead of listening to what others have to say. Maleeka has to learn to see herself through her own eyes, find her voice, and to stay true to herself.

As I was reading this part I pictured Oprah saying; “You get a trip to the guillotine, you get a trip to the guillotine, and you get a trip to the guillotine. Everyone gets a trip to the guillotine!!!”🤦🏻♀️
It‘s basically the conflict between France, Britain, and Haiti, but if people were born with certain magical abilities that are oppressed for the most part. 😔 Now I have to wait for the 2nd book to come out. 🤷🏻♀️

A slow build thriller that prays on our attachments to technology and our detachment of nature & our animal instincts. I know that many people were disappointed with the vague ending (me too), but I think I understand. He wanted us in the characters‘ shoes & since information can‘t be shared without working technology nowadays the characters were in the dark. No one knew what was going on because no one could share info, not even the government.
Who else has read this? We need to talk ASAP!
I don‘t even know how to rate it. I just don‘t know!😬

I‘m listening to this because I‘ve read the print book many years ago, but I now want to read The Testament.

So, even though I knew Sunday was the last day of February my mind somehow didn‘t realize that today was a new month.😔🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ Maybe it‘s because Feb. is so short or maybe I was in denial because I don‘t want to be a year older this month. Who knows, but I had to scramble and to make this post for #BookSpin2021 #BookSpinBingo #February. I don‘t have time to make my fancy bingo card. Didn‘t get as much reading done this month, but still good
Just a regular day in the neighborhood... 😆 Maybe I‘ll get lucky today and get some reading in while she‘s grooming. 🤞🏽🤞🏽
I guess I‘m only allowed to read the first page tonight. 😔 #catmomproblems

Naomi is really getting on my nerves. She‘s so stuck in her little bubble of selfishness and self destruction that she doesn‘t see what‘s right in front of her. Don‘t get me wrong, Nicholas has his issues, but he told her what he wanted and set out to get it. They‘re both unlikeable, but Naomi is taking the prize as the worst of both of them.
It‘s made me chuckle a bit.
#YesiReads #RomCom
It‘s definitely an interesting story, but I feel that it‘s purpose was more for world building than to make the reader get to know and connect with the characters. Most of what we know about the characters is superficial. Sadly Maddie had too many moments where I thought, “why Maddie, why?!?”. I was frustrated with her most of the time, but I just needed to know what was going on, so I read on. I hope book 2 is better.

My goal for the #FabulousFebruary readathon, or #FrozenFebruary as others are calling it 😆, is to read 4 books for my bingo challenge. I‘m starting with the tagged book and hope to finish it tomorrow. 🙂👍🏽
We had started watching His Dark Materials on HBO Max and I remember watching the movie years ago. So I decided to read the books.

Today I heard two people talking about how we shouldn‘t have off days for nonsense holidays like President‘s Day, “Black Day,” and “Obama Day.”
Seriously?!? What in the world is “Black Day” and “Obama Day???” But seriously, how ignorant can you be?!? And these are people working with a minority rich community. It makes me mad, but also very very sad. 😔 Everyday is an uphill battle...
Finished this one on Friday, but I really didn‘t know how I felt about it.
It‘s a middle grade book that will expose them to the reality that different doesn‘t always mean bad or dangerous. It also touches upon the chosen family, finding one‘s purpose, and love and kindness.
I will be reading book 2 soon.

There‘s a small basement coffee shop in Tokyo that has good coffee, is always cool (even on the hottest day), and you can time travel if you sit in a specific chair. As enticing as time travel is, there are many rules that come with it. Most importantly, you need to finish your coffee before it gets cold, which will bring you back to the present.
4 stories of 4 different people who risk it all for a glimpse at the past or future.

Enjoyed the narration, the representation, and the style. I just couldn‘t stand Zuri for quite a bit of the book. She was too busy saying the Darcy boys were judge-mental, stuck up, and that they thought they were above everyone else to notice that she was doing the exact same thing, but worse. I understand that she was resentful because they brought change to her world, but like Darius said, he can‘t help how his life has been and is.
#YesiReads
@readordierachel That ending though!?! Why?!? 😔 She was quite naive about quite a few things, but still. I hate Estelle, by the way. 😠 😤
Ps. The audiobook was a bit monotone, so not the most entertaining and engaging audiobook on the market, but I think the tone fit the book.

The hype surrounding this books has been well deserved. I loved it!
A fantastical read about Addie LaRue, a 23 year old girl who makes a deal with the devil only to find out that need to be careful what you wish for. She was careless and desperate when she prayed to god in the darkness and he took advantage of it. She asked for freedom and he provided it...

@BookishMarginalia I‘m on page 265 and I‘m enjoying the drama. It‘s a ton of drama, but I am one that as a child I was promptly at 6pm on our couch ready to watch telenovelas with the adults. So I think that factors into why I enjoy the drama 😅. Those were also hard and complicated times in India, so I think the drama is understandable. I‘m enjoying the book.
I kept on seeing that the main character was addressed as Sahib and I was a bit confused. I even went back to check to where March mentioned his name in the beginning. I checked multiple times and kept on asking myself, why are they calling this man Sahib when his name is Jim?!? I kept on wondering and 30 pages in I thought that maybe it was used in place of “sir.” Well, it was burning a hole in my brain so I googled it... 👇🏽
Well, Tom made me mad. He was told not to do something and he immediately went and did it.😔🤦🏽♀️
It was still a great read full of ghosts, ghasts, boggarts, and witches. Tom, being the seventh son of a seventh son, is to become the apprentice of the Spook (kind of like a wizard who‘s a witch and ghost hunter🤷🏽♀️). So I‘m obviously going to read the next book in the series even though I‘m mad at Tom. 😆

So...one of the first things you‘re warned about is: beware of girls with pointy shoes.
So...one of the first things you do is talk to a girl with pointy shoes and make her a promise to help her if she ever needs help. No specifics, just an open ended promise of help. 😔 🤦🏽♀️
You were also told don‘t go to that part of the woods in the dark and especially by yourself. So, obviously 🙄 you are lured into that part of the woods at midnight to👇🏽
So...it made me shed my first tears of 2021.
George is a 4th grader who knows he‘s a girl, but is having a hard time making everyone else see and understand she‘s a girl. It‘s heartbreaking to witness her struggle, but you can‘t help but to cheer for her. It‘s a must read for everyone.

January Goals
1) 4 books/month -starting with the tagged book
2) 10 mins. of yoga everyday, do something nice for myself everyday, and be in bed by 9:30.
Well, I didn‘t hit my goal of 71 books this year, but I‘m hoping to hit that goal 2021. It was a tough one, 2020, I had a few months in which I couldn‘t pick up a book because of stress and anxiety, but I got through it. I‘m just glad I got to read the books I did. For a while I was stuck in the 20s.
The tagged book was my last read of the year and I enjoyed it. A collection of letters from Santa written by Tolkien for his kids.

The traditional church Christmas pageant is usually the same predictable re-enactment of the nativity that everyone attends and that the kids are a part of, but no one really enjoys. That is until everything that can will go wrong. From one thing to the other it seems like the Christmas pageant will be a disaster, all you can do is cringe, chuckle, and wait for the big day...and then you‘d probably cry a bit for the Herdmans.
