pickI liked this better than some of the others in the series. Medusa is caustic and abrasive in these books, but now she gets her turn to be a well-developed character. Holub and Williams did a great job adapting Medusa for this audience.
We‘re losing water pressure and have a boil advisory. It‘s likely we‘ll lose water altogether in the next day or two. For now we have power, so that‘s something.

pickAfter a busy weekend, I finally got to finish this book today during/after our rolling blackout (2 hours became 4 and it got fucking cold). I love Julie‘s voice now; she‘s so much like Kate but not exactly. It‘s killing me already to wait for the rest. Must have patience and faith. IA said they‘re concentrating on nontraditional pubs this year, so fingers crossed for more Hugh and Julie!

so-soIt‘s definitely an interesting story, but I feel that it‘s purpose was more for world building than to make the reader get to know and connect with the characters. Most of what we know about the characters is superficial. Sadly Maddie had too many moments where I thought, “why Maddie, why?!?”. I was frustrated with her most of the time, but I just needed to know what was going on, so I read on. I hope book 2 is better.
