My dad and I have a mini book club that we started a couple years ago and we‘ve struggled with our picks so far, but he requested something fun this time around so I‘m hoping that Addie LaRue will be a win for both of us! Finally a good reason to get this off my TBR.

Loved it! Another hit from V.E. Schwab. I would pick this one up again. Addie is so well written that she feels like she could be real. Brilliant book!
Rereading one of my favorite books! Who else is moving from bookstagram to Litsy? I need to find my people!
2024 was a good year for reading and I read some fantastic books. I read every Sarah J Maas book and loved them all. My favourite book of the year was The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue 💙

Life got in the way of getting to read this book for a few months when I initially started it. Highly recommend reading this beautifully written story. Without too much detail, Addie bargains away her soul. She soon learns what she got wasn't exactly what she wanted. This is my first book from this author, but will definitely read more.
Awesome premise - I was hooked very early on! Unfortunately the middle part was repetitive so that took away from the whole experience. I did like the ending.
This one has been popular the last couple of years but I didn‘t enjoy it too much. It felt like word vomit a lot of the time. I liked the premise, the characters, and the ending. But the meat of the story was chaotic. Perhaps better editing was needed?
Addie LaRue lives in a world where she is forgotten the second she leaves a person's sight. After making a desperate pact 300 years ago to be allowed to live, Addie is cursed to wander the world invisible to everyone around her until one man remembers her. A beautifully crafted story that spans centuries whilst being rooted in the present, which sweeps you along. Truly loved this book and will be recommending it to people for a long time.
I cannot put this book down! It is captivating with the seamless swing from past to present. Do I have to go to work tomorrow or can I bunk off to read this all night?

Starting off our girls trip to Door County! One friend surprised the group with a book we could all read together this weekend. Can‘t wait to delve into the mystery of Addie LaRue. #girlstrip #bookclub
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab
This is hands down one of the best books I have ever read. It's a bit different but oh so good. A magical experience for the mind. A love story for the soul. I don't say soul lightly either. I story of hope. A story of “Not forgetting.“ A story about a girl. Then a boy. And the deals they made.

France, 1714. When Adeline LaRue has to marry someone she doesn‘t want to, she begs for a life of freedom. Her wish comes true, but at a price. Addie will live forever, and is doomed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.
She travels across continents and through centuries and learns to live an invisible life. Until someone remembers her. That changes everything.
It‘s a sweet read. A bit too much so to my taste.

#ReadAway2024 When I first began listening to this book I wasn‘t sure whether I liked it or not. But loved it! Addie is such a clever woman.
I took a gamble when I picked up this audiobook on Libby. Having read the synopsis I felt inclined to give it a shot, but also had a moment 's hesitation because I wasn't certain it would really be for me. 17 hours 10 minutes and 50 seconds in listening time later I am happy to report this was a solid pick! Such an incredibly well written and entertaining story.
Shhh... Small secret, it even made me cry. LoL
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
1. Louise Erdrich, Barbara Kingsolver, Margaret Atwood, V.E. Schwab (among others)
2. One of my favorite fantasy books is The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab (tagged)
3. I could easily go with V.E. Schwab here, too, for the Shades of Magic series. But I think I'll say S.A. Chakraborty. The Daevabad Trilogy was just amazing.
"The vexing thing about time is... it's never enough."
Talking about a cat that was disturbed while sleeping in a chair... "He does his best impression of an inconvenienced bread loaf." ??
⭐️⭐️⭐️ this book read like a fairy tale, which I really enjoyed! While it felt a little long at times…the last 100 pages were worth the story!
A romantasy that didn't hook me fast enough to endure. I picked this up on recommendation by a friend and because the premise and writing was great. Unfortunately, I don't connect with YA books that center on romance. I need a compelling "bigger story" which this book promised but didn't deliver soon enough.
For those of you who are into romance-centered stories, you will probably like this one.
What a whirlwind of a book! Personally, I love historical romances so this is a book that piqued my interest. The way that it was written, the flashbacks, the descriptions is very rich and full to the brim. Oh how I loved it! It‘s 542 pages but you‘d be able to finish fast because of the story. I know that when it becomes a movie, it‘ll be fantastic!!!
“Small places make for small lives. And some people are fine with that. They like knowing where to put their feet. But if you walk only in other people‘s steps, you cannot make your own way. You cannot leave a mark.” -Remy Laurent (This book has so many quotables!)
“Books, she has found, are a way to live a thousand lives - or to find strength in a very long one.”
I loved Henry and the story with him and Addie. I listened to the audio, and often lost interest when Luc would appear, so I likely missed much of that part of the story. Thinking back on the book as I write this, though, I debate about rating it ok rather than good. I suspect that rating will decrease with time and memory of the book (since it already has just a little)
I would never have read this if it hadn‘t been a book club pick. It was…interesting. And I did want to see how it ended but not really my thing. Should make for an interesting discussion on Saturday though.
Fall is my favorite and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is fitting the dark vibes of the season. Currently cheating on my NF books for some storytelling and feeling like that was the right choice.

The amount of times I've had this to read and haven't actually been able to, is too high. One day I will actually clear it off of my TBR! #black #Day1 #Scarathon #ScarathonPhotoChallenge #TeamCreepinItReal
Beautifully written and an engaging story, though not unlike several stories with similar themes and plots. I wish there had been more historical detain, but I truly enjoyed the love letter to NYC!
I wasn't as enamored with this book as the rest of the world seemed to be, but I still enjoyed it! Addie's whole deal was just antithetical to how I see life, but I loved her zest for being alive and her relationship with Henry, and I desperately wanted to see how it all ended. If you've got more of a lust to get out of your daily life than I do, this is your story. #fantasy
