Awesome premise - I was hooked very early on! Unfortunately the middle part was repetitive so that took away from the whole experience. I did like the ending.

Some of these books I admit I only read for the prompts, but no regrets! The Girl with the Louding Voice was my favorite.
Band of brothers is my kind of epic fantasy, and this debut is a winner. A great coming of age tale with strong characterization and word building. Anthony Ryan might be a new favorite! 🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡
Late to the party, and kicking myself for not reading this sooner! This is not your classic SK horror, but contains all the elements that only King can come up with - fast paced, heart-stopping action and unforgettable characters. Will Patton narrating is the icing on the cake!
The third book in the series is just as good as its predecessors! There is rising tension between the Others and the humans as Meg, Simon and their friends struggle to keep the peace. I am totally hooked now, but I wasn‘t crazy about the narration so I think I will go to print for the next installment.
Julia Whelan is one of my top audiobook narrators and made this read much more enjoyable. It is not a short book, and depressing as hell. Part of me felt like Elsa must have done something really bad in her past life to be subjected to this much tragedy, it‘s unreal! IMO, Hannah could have eased up a bit 😅 I did love the bond between Elsa and Grandma Rose.

My pick for #Booked2022 #SetInChina A beautiful, poignant story of friendship and resilience. I thought I knew what foot binding was all about, turns out I knew nothing! Love books that not only entertain, but also educate.
I would have enjoyed this more if I didn‘t feel like I was rereading The Guest List. Still a solid pick!

Haven‘t had the time to do individual reviews but most of these are a pick! Many thanks to the hosts, as always.
What a poignant yet hopeful, beautiful love story. My heart ached for all three characters. At this point, TJR can do no wrong in my eyes! Also, the narration is awesome - I will go find more Julia Whelan to listen to now.
I am a life-long Stephen King fan and his books are my comfort food. This one checked all the boxes for me - creepy, engaging, and great characterization. No one writes kids like SK can. I hope he comes back and revisit Jaime Conklin in future books.

Great mystery with just the right touch of creepy! Another first author for me, and glad I picked this up.
Ah, that ending… painful, but perfectly executed. My first Schwab series and looking forward to more.

What a journey! Without a doubt one of the richest fantasy series out there. Lyra and Will, and all the cast will always have a special place in my heart. Such a bittersweet ending… 💔

— Unpopular opinion — This started out genuinely funny, and while I can appreciate how it sheds light on what it‘s like to work for the NHS, Kay comes off as obnoxious and disrespectful of some of his colleagues. Maybe it‘s his coping mechanism but I just could not get past it.
Still, kudos to all the healthcare professionals for their hard work day in and day out.
#Booked2021 #summer wrap up
Loved all the books I read for the summer prompt! My faves were the bottom two. I must admit I would not have read Betty if not for this challenge. Glad I did.
This was a quick, absorbing read! Creepy and twisted, but I did not feel as invested with the characters as I expected. Still an easy pick!

Not as compelling as the first book, but still makes you think about what you would do in his shoes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I did not enjoy this quite as much as the first. I suppose Mark Lawrence is setting us up for the finale, but the story seemed a bit drawn out. Still, the witty humor kept me turning the page and that ending was definitely worth the wait! I have very high expectations of book 3.

I think we all know exactly where we were and what we were doing when we learned about the attack of 9/11. I remember being in total shock. But I don‘t think I fully grasped the magnitude of that event until I read (or in this case, listened to) this book. I ugly cried. Many many times. It‘s heartbreaking, inspirational and so humbling. I cannot recommend this enough.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I am so loving this series! The plot expands to epic proportions in this second installment. Great addition of Will Parry to balance out Lyra‘s more impulsive nature. The only thing that disappointed me is there was no bear in this one. Perhaps we‘ll meet Iorek again in the 3rd book!

It‘s good to be back in Bayview High! We get introduced to new main characters but it was also fun catching up with the original cast. I thought this sequel was just as good as the first. A fun, engrossing YA mystery.

The first book in The Others series is off to a good start! A unique take on humans and supernaturals coexisting in society. Anne Bishop is one of my favorite authors, and she writes relationships very well so I am eager to see where this goes! 🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺

A solid murder mystery with short chapters that kept me hooked! The audio was superb.

Thanks for the tag @Eggs
I absolutely loved The Broken Empire trilogy, and The Red Queen‘s War is set in the same world and timeline, but with different characters. I like Prince Jalan enough, but Mark Lawrence might have spoiled all anti-heroes for me, after Prince Jorg. But I still liked this book! The bromance between Jalan and Snorri is fun to read. I look forward to the next book in the series. 🗡🗡🗡🗡

Another classic I should have read earlier. I love Lyra and this magical, complex world Pullman concocted. Pure genius! The audiobook was brilliant.

Very good quarter - got a couple of 5 ⭐️ reads (left) and a few books off my long TBR list. Great prompts!
I‘ve waited way too long to pick this up! Such a fascinating concept about monsters. I enjoyed both August and Kate and very much looking forward to the next book. 🎻🎻🎻🎻

I didn‘t think it was possible to love this sequel even more than the first, but I did! The characters are so starkly real, I physically ache for them. Kudos to Umrigar for creating a fascinating story of unlikely friendships, of resilience, forgiveness and hope. Highly recommended in audio, with Kleenex on the side. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

An engrossing, beautifully written story about twin sisters whose lives took on different paths after one major life choice. This book covers many grounds - from racism to abuse, gender identity, acceptance, yet doesn‘t feel heavy. Very much worth the hype, in my opinion.
“He was a book, and he was holding his final pages, and he wanted to get to the end to find out how it went, and he didn‘t want it to be over.”
This quote summarizes all my feels while finishing this series. Maggie‘s writing is so simple, and yet so lyrical. It‘s hard to put into words how I feel. Just, I am totally undone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tackling my #MountTBR2021 goals and I can FINALLY say I get the “so long, and thanks for all the fish” references I hear from folks. This was hilarious and witty and Stephen Fry‘s narration knocked it out of the park! 🛸🛸🛸🛸
Wow! Anyone who reads this book will not be able to deny the existence of racism in America. Very compelling and tough to swallow — this should be required reading.

My first Matt Haig. A story about second chances and hope. I enjoyed it well enough, even if it‘s a tad predictable. Not sure I‘d go as far as picking it for GR choice award though.

I love, love, love all the characters in the Raven Cycle! I don‘t even care where the plot is going at this point. 😍

All the feels for this book! I loved this whimsical, feel-good, quirky fairy tale that left me alternating between sobbing and smiling. Lovely on audio as well. My favorite for the year so far! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I thought this was fun! I liked all the characters except for one of the moms. The Breakfast Club vibes made me feel nostalgic, but the impact of technology in our teens today is something I‘m glad I didn‘t have to go through. An easy pick!

Another one of those books that didn‘t need to be written. It took forever to finish and didn‘t really make me appreciate why Snow is the way he is. Can I just get Finnick‘s story? Or Haymitch. Either one would be lovely.

Only one book was meh (Sourdough) so overall a good quarter. I have nothing set for the spring season so I better start planning!
Reformed bad boy meets movie star in the second installment of the Winston Bros series. I think I liked this even better than the first, although it could have been shortened a tad bit. Very funny characters and all the Winston Bros are swoon-worthy! Can‘t wait to get to Cletus‘ story.

A beautiful memoir! Harper‘s insights on life and patient care is inspiring and thought provoking. At the end of the day, that‘s what I call a good read.

There really was no need for a book 2. RP1 was fresh and exciting, and the sequel was not nearly as engaging. I thought it was still OK though, until I got to the very disappointing ending. Game over pls.

I have mixed feelings about this one. It started out delightful and whimsical, then turned so odd. Like cloudy-with-a-chance-of-meatballs odd. 🤷🏻♀️ It was well-written though and beautifully narrated.

Sorry this is late! @Mavey #EscapeReality
✨ I have not had much screen time recently but ‘A Quiet Place‘ seems interesting in a book/series.
✨ The Wit from the Farseer Trilogy so I can talk to my dog!
✨ Gilead - at the time of Roland Deschain‘s gunslingers.
I like The Dry better but I thought this was a worthy follow up. Good mystery that had me guessing till the end. Jane Harper‘s very good at setting up the atmosphere. With The Dry, you can almost feel the heat in the air. Here it‘s the damp and cold. Nicely done.
