It‘s been a few years since I read the first book in this series, and I was in the fence about it. I don‘t know if the story & writing have improved, or living through a stressful pandemic and other major life changes have made me more amenable to cozies, but I really enjoyed this one. The characters are really starting to grow on me.

This was supposed to be my pick for #booked2021 #bakedgoodsoncover but I will have to find another one.

When I found myself bored 10 chapters in, I decided to bail. I wS already annoyed by the use of the R word for a person with an intellectual disability.

Good thing I have a back up book for the baked goods prompt!

A quick, easy read! My choice for #bakedgoodsoncover for #booked2021, however this series would also work for #includesrecipes for #booked2022 as you can get some bonus donut recipes at the end of the book if you want to.

Maybe I‘ve just gone off cosy mysteries? Or maybe I just didn‘t warm to the characters and found the humour more silly than amusing. It was also on the snooty side, and tending to play to stereotypes. And cozies with a baker/cafe-owning woman in a romance with a police/ex-police guy would need something else to stand out. In short,I wasn‘t a fan.

But hey, it had #bakedgoodsoncover #booked2021. And it has a great rating on GoodReads, so…

This novel isn't anything mind-blowing but I still couldn't put it down: dishy, snarky, and full of people with too much money. ❤️

(Also after my trip to Europe was cancelled because of my broken ankle I thought I could go to the Hudson Valley, where this is set. Nope.)

I've been enjoying this cozy mystery series this month. In a small town in Pennsylvania, Daisy runs a "tea garden" that seems to attract murders. There's lots of references to tea of various kinds (although no builders' tea I'm sorry to say?) and to the goodies they serve with it (recipes included!). Perfect switch-off material and perfect for #Booked2021 #BakedGoodsOnCover.

Katie's wedding is just a week away and everything is going well until her future SIL's ex husband shows up, and later is murdered. SIL found him and is a suspect. This is enough for Katie to get involved, but there is magical residue as well. I really enjoy this series, and I really enjoy it on audio as I really like the narrator.

I finalized my June reading totals this morning. Not bad, though I really need to focus on my challenges!

I actually read this one at the beginning of the year, but I‘m still working through my list of books to post about. Really enjoyed this first book in the series and will be continuing with it. There was a little bit of everything.
