Millie is in charge of her Aunt's speak easy in New Orleans on New Year's Eve when someone is murdered. That someone who was just looking for her best friend & star entertainer Marion, the boy in the red dress. So while hiding him from the police she sets out to find the killer. Loved ❤

I have 8 prompts left to fulfill for #booked2021 (eek) but I am determined to get there. This will be the first time I will have managed to complete a reading challenge, which is definitely in part because of the wonderful encouragement of @Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage & @4thhouseontheleft and the lovely community around this challenge. These are the physical books I have which leaves me with 4 still to find! Musical instrument cover rec anyone?
Amira heads home so that she can finish the last project for her Masters in peace and quiet only to find that a barbershop quartet has moved in. Sounds cute and fun right? Parts of this book absolutely are but it also tackles a lot within its pages- racism, homophobia, Islamaphobia. This wasn‘t the light read I was expecting but I ended up liking it all the more for it.

Somewhere between a pick and a so-so. I loved Opal and I liked the social commentary. Some bits dragged but it was better than Daisy Jones which it seems to get compared with.

Just realized I forgot to post my spring #booked2021 reads. 🤦🏼♀️

Here‘s my #booked2021 second quarter wrap up. My favorite was The Lost City of Z. Hummingbird Salamander (my most anticipated) I sadly did not like at all. All the others I gave 3 and 3.5 stars.

This was the only book on my shelf with a #MusicalInstrumentOnCover so had to be my choice for #booked2021 I wasn‘t too keen as I‘d tried to start it a few years back and given up but it was better than I expected. Found myself skimming over the descriptions of shipping stuff but liked the bits in between. Still not as enjoyable for me as others I‘ve read by him.
I‘ve waited way too long to pick this up! Such a fascinating concept about monsters. I enjoyed both August and Kate and very much looking forward to the next book. 🎻🎻🎻🎻

Willie Nelson is one of my favorite performers. This book was a nice overview of his life with lots of great pictures, but I didn't really learn anything new. #MusicalInstrumentOnCover #Booked2021
