Man the light in this part of my apartment is TERRIBLE. I hope you enjoy awful pictures, friends. Not as awful as this book. This is marketed as a romance but the blurb on the back of the book of VERY misleading and very spoiler-y. I only finished because it's set in Nashville. Ugh I hated this so much.

Cinfhen Sorry it was a disappointment 😔but another prompt completed ✅ 🙌🏻💕 3y
mom2bugnbee Dang. Guess I won't read this one for my hear/here. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 3y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Aww. That stinks. I had to laugh because the title of her previous book sounds a bit like your review of this one. 🤪 3y
ferskner @mom2bugnbee good choice! There are better Nashville books out there, I'm sure. @BarbaraTheBibliophage hahaha I didn't even see that! 3y

This was riveting but very dark. I listened to the audiobook and liked the full cast. But I couldn‘t connect with any of the characters and was left feeling sad by the end.

I finished all of my Spring books for #Booked2021!

1. Library in the title: The Swimming-Pool Library
2. Translated: I Saw Her That Night
3. Set in country w/ UN peacekeepers: A Fine Balance
4. #HearHere: Universal Harvester
5. Musical instrument on cover: Wicked Beat
6. Anti-racism book: White Fragility

I even remembered to fill out the form this time, and also added my Winter books read January—March to the same form, since I forgot before.😬

BarbaraBB That is probably the best book with “library” in its title! 3y
sprainedbrain @BarbaraBB best one I‘ve read, by far! 3y
Cinfhen Woohoo 🥳 well done 3y

LikelyLibrarian My favorites appear in the top row. It‘s been said before, but Piranesi is especially beautiful and unlike anything I‘ve ever read before.
The second row are good reads, 3+ stars all. Murmur of Bees is beautifully written, and Library of Legends gets a special shout-out for the gorgeous cover.

I don‘t know if everyone would see this dysfunctional family drama / mystery as a tribute to unconventional mothering, but I did. The main characters are motherless sisters raised by their grandma. The more responsible sister mothers the other, plus is a single mom to a 4-year-old. It‘s full of heart but also a gripping thriller.

AmyG Loved this book. 4y
vivastory I keep meaning to read this one! 4y
Cinfhen LOVED this book / it was such a smart thriller even though I guessed the culprit early on 4y

Cinfhen It was more literary than thriller 4y
Cathythoughts A great read 👍🏻❤️ 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @vivastory Definitely give it a go! 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Cinfhen I agree—too many layers of story to be a straight thriller. I did love that the culprit wasn‘t super obvious to me. 🤗 4y

Here‘s my #booked2021 first quarter wrap up! I skipped around, as usual, and managed to get through more prompts than I expected, so I‘m quite pleased. 😊 I enjoyed all of them too, except Boca Raton, but at least that one was short. 😅

Bk11 of March &Bk1 of #20in4 This has to be one of the best audiobook series I‘ve ever listened to, not only is the story fantastic, the narrator is fabulous. Every character is distinctive & the words just flow without stutter or hesitation at all. And there‘s some large, unfamiliar words! Bk2 of The Expanse & Jim & Co are caught up in the destruction of Ganymede by rogue elements with the protomolecule. #Booked2021 #HearHere #SeriesRead2021👇👇

Lizpixie Completely forgot to add the time! This audiobook has been so good I‘ve just been in my library chair listening to it all day while organising stuff.🎧 4y

Sing, Unburied, Sing | Jesmyn Ward

Pickpick

I recently “met” Jesmyn Ward when she agreed to speak to a group of creative writers at The University of Southern Mississippi. She is talented and genuinely human. Sing, Unburied, Sing is her third novel, and her best. And amazing example of Southern Gothic literature.
