AnnCrystal The tagged works for either challenge, since Murtagh is book five (?) in a series. It is the only book I have in this series, yet I've read that it can be a standalone...hope.

Been really excited to begin this read, yet I just recently realized how many pages...705! I was considering stashing this with some other big books to read another time when I saw the #ChunksterChallenge! Seemed like a “read now“ sign 😂.

Amiable @AnnCrystal The secret with chunksters is to just keep reading. Even if it‘s only few pages at a time. It‘s the forward momentum that propels you to the finish. I find that if I don‘t pick it up every day, it‘s easier to not pick it up at all. 2w

The goal of the challenge is just to get you to read those giant books you may have been avoiding because the page counts intimidate you, or because you find that you are always reaching for the short books to chase an arbitrary book total goal. 3w

Amiable @dabbe Les Mis was a struggle for me, too—thank goodness I‘m stubborn! I also am thinking about starting Robert Caro‘s mammoth works about LBJ. Although he‘s 89 and still writing the last one and I‘ll be really bummed if the series doesn‘t get completed. 😬

This is my second book by this author and I can say that I love the way she writes, how places are described and how characters are developed. This story has multiple timelines and it has, mystery, a murder, , family drama, a touch of paranormal or fantasy. It is so atmospheric I didn‘t feel the 585 pages in this slow pace reading because I was immersed in the story. It worked for me 4⭐️
