Read this one for book club! Really liked it and was totally engrossed the entire read. Others commented that there was too much detail, but I was really impressed with the research and detail. Such an incredible life. #nonfiction #history

This is a #bookstore appreciation post! I‘m so excited that my small hometown finally got a bookstore! If you‘re ever in Two Rivers #Wisconsin please support this small business. And follow them on insta!
“Why do you need all this power?” Wo-Yuet has asked her. So that I can have complete control, she should have answered. Because the moment a powerful woman loosened her grip on the reins, even a little, someone immediately tried to wrest those reins from her. This someone was usually a man who believed she should never have had them in the first place. (Loving this #womanpirate read so far!)
Read this one in a few hours. Definitely a high spice factor! Predictable plot line but still a fun and fast adventure. Reminds me of Neon Gods, but I enjoyed that series more.
252 pages of missed chances, regret, and sadness. But somehow I really enjoyed this book and found myself laughing often. Maybe it was the strength of the writing that kept me going through such loss. Although the multiple story lines got confusing at times, would still recommend.
“Her kiss was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering.”
If you get second hand claustrophobia then this book is not for you! But otherwise, definitely recommend this short read. It was a fascinating look into another world. While I personally have no interest in diving, it was wonderful to join Jill in her journey of self discovery. I also appreciated her delving into the sexism she experienced in this field. #autobiography
A wild ride! I loved that we got to follow a female hacker through such vibrant world building. And it‘s non stop action from chapter 1. I went in not realizing that there‘s a sequel and was disappointed we didn‘t get more of a wrap up. But over all it was a fun read.
Hello Jessie Mihalik! Love discovering a new author and series that totally sucks me in. The world building and character development is amazing. I like how they can argue but still have mature conversations. Only downside is the how the story travels at warp speed, and I didn‘t want it to end! Looking forward to book two. The worst part of an engrossing series is the wait time on Libby! #spaceopera
I may be biased because I read this book on vacation in Europe visiting sites where WWII atrocities happened, but I was fully engrossed. I found some of the inner monologues of the husband and wife to be a little repetitive. And the time jumping confusing at times. But overall, an interesting portrait of a place and its people surviving under horrific circumstances.
Just finished this well researched book for my AAUW book club. What a wild tale! It was definitely a bit of a slog at some points with the amount of detail and background. But definitely a fascinating story. I‘m really interested in the author and hope he writes an autobiography! Sounds like he‘s also led an incredible life. #history #nonfiction
Needed a fun, fast, brain break read this week, and Rock Chick was definitely that. Lots of laugh out loud moments. Stephanie Plum vibes. However, our hero/love interest Lee got off easy for being an a** wayyy too much for my liking. The whole “you have to prove to me you‘re worth it” thing, not great. Well maybe YOU‘RE not worth the effort LEE. I tell ya. Despite these episodes, 10/10.
Picked up the first book in the Muderbot Diaries at a cute local bookstore on a road trip through Door County, WI (Novel Bay Booksellers). The bookseller said the series was “highly addictive.” One chapter in and I‘m already obsessed! And it‘s small...perfect for flying. #scifi #novella #shopsmall #getvaccinated
Finished another great read this week with fast, witty dialogue. Really down to earth characters with relatable struggles. Not too much drama. A whole lot of steam 🔥 10/10 would recommend! Has anyone read the other sisters‘ books?
LOVED it. Veronica Speedwell is the heroine adventurer we all need right now. Great dialogue and fun characters!
Wow...what a ride! Heat factor 100🔥🔥🔥 great characters, emotion, and storytelling. Only critique is Ava let the Bastard Scot off WAY too easily at the end there. I hope Harper gets a book! #romance #enimiestolovers
In one of those very “DC moments,” I had the privilege of hearing John Lewis speak at a little comic book store a few years ago. Such a remarkable man. Rest in power Mr. Lewis. Pick yourself up a copy of his highly engaging and educational graphic novels!
Haven‘t finished, but enjoying this read so far! I love the spunky main character and dialogue. And it speaks to my English lit major soul. #beachread
I‘m absolutely loving this book so far. It‘s described as a sort of Western meets Mulan which speaks so me on so many levels. Our heroine has such a powerful and unique voice. Can‘t wait to see how this unfolds.
This book is 🔥🔥🔥. Discovered this delightful (and steamy) read while lounging at our Peruvian Amazon lodge. Not a bad way to spend some down time.
A fun, fast freebie on kindle #ebook! Great characters that I‘m looking forward to getting to know more as the series progresses.
“For how can one know color in perpetual green, and what good is warmth without cold to give it sweetness?”
I do not remember ever buying this book, but when I was looking through my stack for a beach read I found this. And it was light weight and packable. Win! A little melancholy for the beach, but I‘m enjoying the writing style! #beachread #vacation
Simply addicting. So glad I brought this on my London and Paris adventure this summer. #vacationread
“Maybe that‘s enlightenment enough: to know that there is no final resting place of the mind; no moment of smug clarity. Perhaps wisdom is...realizing how small I am, and unwise, and how far I have yet to go.” — A. Bourdain. **Saddened to hear about the loss of this brilliant human and writer. No Reservations was one of the first biographies I ever read and made me realize that I actually liked bios! Or maybe I just liked Bourdain‘s dry humor. RIP

Wearing my kicks while listening to Shoe Dog on #audiobook. Almost done and loving it. I‘m not usually drawn to #nonfiction, but this has kept me completely captivated. #swoosh

Just started this collection of short stories by Tom Hanks. Yes...THAT Tom Hanks. Had the privilege of seeing him speak last night at the #politicsandprose event in DC. So far I'm loving it! #shortstory
Finally getting to my summer reading list! My mom suggested The Diplomat's Daughter after she heard a review on NPR. Happily picked it up at the local Politics & Prose in #DC. So far so good! #summerread
Stunning artwork and non stop action. I only wish I could join Delilah on her next adventure! Great read for anyone who always wanted to see a female Indiana Jones. The only annoying bit is that the story is still from a man's perspective which leaves our female hero somewhat underdeveloped. Hopefully her character will become more well rounded as the series continues. Also rumors of a film adaptation! #graphicnovel
Woke up at our campsite on the Shenandoah river to finish reading Bryson's laugh out loud book. Wonderful mix of adventure, history and environmental commentary that still resonates. I was not disappointed. Just skip over the bear attack chapter when reading aloud around the campfire in the middle of the woods at night!
Finally getting a chance to read this classic! Bill Bryson is one of my favorites. Years ago, my high school English teacher gave me a copy of "I'm a Stranger Here Myself" because she said we had similar (probably sarcastic) writing styles. It changed my view of writing and nonfiction. I didn't know books could be so funny! #billbryson #travelwriting
Absolutely devoured this book. I discovered this heart pounding mystery though @OverDrive and Big Library Read. It's like Downton Abby + Criminal Minds. All of my favorite things.
