*Christmas present for new boss* - Lawyer
I noticed she has Atomic Habits, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and How to Win Friends and Influence People on her shelf.
I‘m looking for something similar to get her if anyone can help!! 😇 🎅🏻 🎄 🎁 📖
Not my usual read but found this enjoyable. I listened to it on Spotify. If I read it physically I‘m positive I would‘ve DNF‘d it. The audiobook version helped me finish. Slow paced but satisfying and heartwarming in the end.
A coworker gifted this to me as a late wedding present. Coolest gift ever !! I‘m enamored !! 🥰 🤭 📚 a great gift for avid readers. This gives me an excuse to take all my books off the shelves and organize them as well… finally 😅
This one has been popular the last couple of years but I didn‘t enjoy it too much. It felt like word vomit a lot of the time. I liked the premise, the characters, and the ending. But the meat of the story was chaotic. Perhaps better editing was needed?
Listened to this on audio FOR FREE with Spotify Premium! Loved the narrators.
Loved the book! Found myself giggling and gasping out loud a few times. And of course… the twists! Freida is too good. Dual timelines, obsession, murder, hidden identities, modern dating struggles, and friendship.
4/5 🌟
“If you‘re with someone who doesn‘t speak your language, you‘ll spend a lifetime having to translate your soul”
This book was a soft pick. It felt like it dragged on. I appreciate the outside perspective so readers can see how easy it is for couples to miscommunicate. Hopefully people can take that as a lesson from this book. I‘ll read another Jimenez but won‘t have high expectations. 3 🌟
I couldn‘t resist a thriller with a slipcase like that .. my second Jeneva Rose and I‘m hoping it‘ll be good because I DID judge this book by its cover 😂
$5 cafe book centered around Jack the Ripper for the spooky vibes, a nonfiction travel book for inspiration, and TTPD on vinyl. Love a good trip to B & N. My wallet does not 🤨
That‘s a wrap! I have completed my undergrad and now have a bachelor‘s degree!! 🤩 Yay more time for books !!! 📖 McFadden is an auto author for me so I pre-ordered this one a few months ago. Time to relax 😌
I‘ve not read Anne Rice before but my Aunt gave these to me so apparently I‘m going to become a fan! Excited to discover something “new” !! 🤩
Finally jumped on the bandwagon! Verdict: Worth. The. Hype. 😍 I loved this book! Devoured this book. Savored this book. Slow burn believable romance, easy-to-follow fantasy world building/historical fiction, realistic events rather than sunshine and rainbows. Immediately started the second book!
4 stars ⭐️
Fast paced and action packed. I enjoyed this thriller. It focused on domestic violence from male and female POV. Ending felt cheesy, but that‘s okay. I‘m not in a hurry to pick up another Daniel Hurst, but I‘ll read another when I come across it. 3.25 stars ⭐️
This book took me three weeks to read because I was just not into it. It‘s like Clue where family members start dying while trapped in a house and you have to figure out who the murderer is. I liked the plot twist and the ending. But, per usual, Alice Feeney packs cliché one-liners into the book on nearly every single page and it was eyeroll worthy. 2.5 stars ⭐️
One of my regular customers at the restaurant I work at MADE me this quilt !!!!! How kind is that ?!? I am overjoyed and so thankful!! 🥰😇📚🪱😍💕
Outside reading in southern Illinois and watching the solar eclipse when I came across this line! The synchronicity 🤪🤩☀️🌙
A page turner! Nora‘s mom groomed her from birth to be a con artist mom/daughter duo. Nora escapes but finds herself in a perilous situation where she‘s forced to tap into her upbringing to survive.
3.75 ⭐️ because I wanted a deeper connection with characters. Also, it‘s sad that authors have to put safety info in the back so they don‘t get torn apart on the internet. Author used an illness and had to clarify she knew the extent of it 🙄
My nephew, ATTICUS, needs postcards for a school project ! Do any Littens want to help out?? He needs Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Delaware, and Maryland!! Please and thank you!! 😇🤩🤓
You know I love my McFadden thrillers !! They‘re easy to soak up and provide so much entertainment. Plus her twists are chef‘s 💋 ! That being said, I don‘t feel like I take away much besides the entertainment value, which is fine. Not every book has to change your life. But for that reason, this gets 3.25 🌟
Book haul from a lovely Barnes & Noble morning 📚 I bought all of these books for a total of $23 ! Which feels like a blessing today.
Perfect sequel to The Housemaid ! I picked it up right after finishing the first and ordered the third book (released in June) immediately after finishing this one! I could see this as a tv show or movie.
3.5 out of 5 stars
Oh yeah! Freida McFadden is too good. I loved this book!! It was very entertaining and had a great twist.
3.75 out of 5
Well that was sufficiently painful. If the winter blues have you feeling numb, this book will get your heart aching 💔 The ending left me wanting more, so I suppose that means I developed an attachment to the MC.
3.25 out of 5 stars
Doggie snuggles and Poe for melancholic winter nights ❄️📚
My Goodwill book haul today! $13 for all of these babies! I‘m a huge DS fan (obviously) and collect all of her books. I‘ve never read The Da Vinci Code but I know it‘s wildly popular. Picked up my first Karin Slaughter, and the tagged book was too intriguing to pass up. It‘s about the psychology behind training soldiers to kill when we grow up learning that murder is wrong.
Did anyone else participate in Stuff Your Kindle Day ?? I picked up 20 new books!! Hoping I found some gems ! 💎 📚 🤓
My Christmas party for work was tonight and these are the goodies from my secret Santa !! A book, book earrings, and a $30 Barnes & Noble gift card !! My coworker knows me so well 🤓 📚
4.5🌟
I gobbled this book right up! It was entertaining until the last page and kept the mystery alive. My complaints are that I didn‘t get attached to any of the characters and the end did need a good amount of explanation to bring it full circle. This book is very similar to Colleen Hoover‘s Verity. A spooky, thrilling, fun ride !
5 🌟
“The character I played…was my steel-plated armor. As a teenager, I created her: the dumb blonde with a sweet but sassy edge.”
If you think Paris Hilton is nothing more than an entitled spoiled bimbo, you couldn‘t be more wrong. She‘s a brilliant, resilient, ferocious, jaded, successful, philanthropist and entrepreneurial workaholic.
Opening day did not disappoint!!! I‘m so grateful for my #HHS goodies !! I‘ve been wanting to read Go Hex Yourself for so long, I‘m gonna eat it up tonight in one sitting !! 😍 and I received my first TJ Klune !! I adore the crystals and can‘t wait to try the coffee! Thank you so much !!! 🤩🥰🥳👻🎃📚 @BookwormAHN @wanderinglynn
Top is the one I received and the bottom is the one I just sent out !! It‘ll be there Wednesday!! To my swap buddy… I believe the postal service worker misspelled your name and I‘m sorry in advance 🥴 but I hope the goodies inside make up for it ! 🎃👻😇 I can‘t wait for opening day !!!! 📚 📕 📖 #HHS
Went through a reading slump 🥴 but this book got me out ! I loved the twists and turns. 70% through the book and I still didn‘t know who the killer was. My only complaint is the amount of explanation that was needed at the end to make it come full circle.
Woo!!! Happy birthday to me!! I preordered this book a few months ago and it has arrived 2 days before my birthday!! Can‘t wait to dive into this sequel !!!! 🥳😍😇🤩
Loved it! Abby and Sam have infertility issues and after a failed adoption, Abby‘s assistant Monica volunteers to be their surrogate. But Monica has ulterior motives no one saw coming. This one reads like a movie and I couldn‘t put it down until I figured out how it was going to end! I actually felt my heart thumping a few times!
Another great Charlie Donlea thriller! There was tons of action and a great twist. I do wish that some parts would‘ve been explained further - the ending felt rushed. But the book provided great entertainment and I feel that I gained small insight into the life of a medical examiner.
It‘s a nasty topic (abduction and abuse) but wasn‘t done in a gory way and I appreciate that.
I felt this book dragged on and was anticlimactic. There are TONS of references to plays, music, and books that I do not know. Which made me feel less connected to the story. The author excessively describes the scene rather than stating the sequence of events. Sometimes it took me two pages to realize what was happening in the new scene. I don‘t think I‘ll pick up another Rowley unless it comes highly recommended by a friend.
Litsy friends ! Out of curiosity I‘m wondering how many of you voracious readers are or want to be writers? How many of you work anywhere in the book industry - paid reviews, editing, audiobook narration, etc? Just wanting to know for personal knowledge ! For myself, I‘d like to get into the industry somewhere. Reading books for a living sounds like a dream
🥰🤩🤓📚
Good but not great. The twist came out of left field with no prior clues or foreshadowing. It needed a long explanation to make sense. Also, there were minor inconsistencies like “he put on sweats” then the next page says “he unzipped his pants”. I don‘t feel like I learned anything from reading this one.
I‘m exactly halfway through this book and I‘m really struggling. I watched the first episode of the Netflix adaptation and stopped to read the book first (of course) but it‘s proving to be rather boring. Also, the word “veranda” has been used at least 40 times and I‘m about to lose my mind if I see it again 😵💫 hopefully the last half picks up
A struggling young woman marries a rich athlete who holds secrets about his former wife‘s passing. She digs too deep but it‘s too late to let the mystery go unsolved. I really enjoyed this book! I didn‘t connect to the characters as much as I would‘ve liked to, and some serious scenes seemed to be taken lightly. But the twists were entertaining and I was itching to solve the mystery too. Overall, 3.5 🌟
A woman gets shot in the head and survives but has to figure out how to put her life back together and solve the crime. This dragged on with little action. Each chapter was titled “Four months later” which was redundant. They should‘ve been titled “Day 120”, “Day 121”, etc. The mystery was easy to solve as well. I‘ll try the author again, but this wasn‘t the best.
This was my 8th CoHo book. I found this one to be deeper and more plausible than others. The book is about a young woman trying to get custody of her daughter after a tragic accident separates them. Hoover did a great job creating feelings of empathy for both parties to where I was torn on which side to be on. Per usual, it was a quick and easily digestible read that conjured up many feelings.
5 🌟 !!! This book was so beautifully written. The topic was interesting, the characters were likable, the evolution was believable, and it made my heart swell with all the fuzzy feelings. It‘s a book I‘ll be recommending for the next few months
This was my first Rom Com book and I thoroughly enjoyed it !!! There‘s a small sub plot that keeps the story engaging and all the characters are lovable. It made me want to move to a quaint English village and open a bookstore (: The story was relatable to today‘s culture but not in an annoying way and the romance aspect was believable (one of my biggest issues with romance).
My aunt recommended this one. I really enjoyed it! I was wishing for more action at times. I felt that the storyline was original and I could definitely see it as a movie someday. I‘ll pick up another Charlie Donlea soon.
My MIL bought me a Kindle as an early birthday present !!! After resisting for so long due to my love of physical books I have to say… I‘m obsessed with it 🥰🤩 Ugly Love was a great book with the usual CoHo twists and some spicy 🌶 scenes! Easy read, intriguing, and conjures multiple feelings throughout from heartache to surprise to … you know 😜
4/5 ? This was my first Alice Feeney and I really enjoyed it ! The story kept me intrigued, not knowing how it would end. I do wish that it had more substance, more action. And there were too many cliché one-liners. Overall a good read though
