7 posts | 8 read | 2 to read
Elle Kennedy's next spicy and emotional romance in the blockbuster Avalon Bay series. College student Cassie Soul hasnt spent an entire summer in Avalon Bay in years, not since her parents divorced and her mother spitefully whisked her away to Boston. Now that her grandmother is selling the boardwalk hotel thats been in their family for five decades, Cassie returns to the quaint beach town to spend time with family, ring in her twenty-first birthday...and maybe find herself a summer fling. On her first night in town, she finds the perfect candidate: Tate Bartlett, Avalon Bays fun-loving golden boy. Tate, sailing instructor and lovable player, is no stranger to flings. In fact, hes always down for a good time. But the moment he meets Cassie, he knows shes not the girl you play games with. Cassie is gorgeous, hilarious, and, frankly, the coolest person hes ever met. The last thing he wants to do is risk breaking her heart, and so he reluctantly puts her in the friend-zone...only to realize he made a huge mistake. Soon, his attraction to Cassie becomes impossible to ignore. He wants that fling now. Big-time. And maybe even something more. As Cassie and Tate walk the line between friends and lovers, theyre about to discover that their situation is the least complicated part of this equation. Because Avalon Bay is full of secretsand their relationship might not survive when those secrets come to light.

Book 3: Cassie attends a party at Luke's house where she is introduced to the locals who live in Avalon Bay. She decides to have a carefree summer as she celebrates her 21st birthday. It isn‘t long for her to find a "summer fling" when she overhears Tate Bartlett being dumped by his girlfriend. The sailing instructor is no stranger to flings but friend zones the sweet Cassie. Will he be able to keep his distance from the fun loving sweet Cassie?

Didn't suck me in quite as much as Elle's other books, but not sure how much of that can be attributed to my wonky mental state vs the book itself? Certainly not bad, but it didn't suck me in like her books usually do. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for a new adult romance in particular. Still had some good, unexpected plot points. Overall a soft pick 🏖️

I long for a life in Avalon Bay and a Tate Bartlett.

I was expecting this to be a shallow quick read but it had some substance with likable characters who deserved a HEA. As I marked its GR completion I noticed it was third in a series - I didn‘t even realize I might be missing details. Looks like 2 more books just got added to my TBR!

My favorite in this series so far. Has a bit more meat to it with some familial issues.

I was hesitant to start this book as I liked Kennedy‘s Briar U & Off-Campus series but I didn‘t make it past the first few pages of the first book in the series. However, I need not worry as this was fun to read! Kennedy does a great job at making comedic and light reads w/ just the right amount of serious matters to make it have depth. Cassie & Tate exuded chemistry and I loved their open communication. It was a friends to lovers story well done.
