This was a reread for me and I loved it all over again! I‘m gonna read a few books before getting to the sequel (pictured), but I needed a refresher. Erin A. Craig is a phenomenal storyteller. The flow of the book, the characters, the SETTING….it was all captivating. 🐙 🌊 ☠️ ✨ “In a manor by the sea, twelve sisters are cursed”
This is a 12 Dancing Princesses retelling that I paired with the original fairy tale for #childrensclassicread2025. It didn't quite live up to my expectations. The first part of the story felt like a different book than the second half. I did enjoy some of the world building, and the horror sequences were done well. The story just needed to be a little more cohesive.

#StorySettings Day6 Seaside
This is a dark retelling of the 12 Dancing Sister. It takes place in a seaside village. In this story, the FMC is grieving the deaths of 4 of her sisters. She begins to have visions and starts believing their deaths were no accident.
#LuckyInLove Day8 Dancing
I instantly thought of this book for dancing. This book has a group of sisters who sneak out to dance the night away at glamorous balls.

I‘ve been reading too much YA/NA fantasy & romantasy lately, a little goes a long way for me in these genres & this was pretty weak in comparison to my other current reads. But I didn‘t want to DNF just because I was comparing it to Iron Flame 😅
Nothing happens until the last 3rd of the book & suddenly it became terrifying & weird. So it was a long journey to get to the good part, but then I was riveted. I didn‘t care about the romance though
My book 📕 selection - House of Salt & Sorrows🧜🏼♀️❣️

I was up late last night/very early this morning reading, I could barely put it down! Finished up this afternoon and wow I really liked this book! Definitely had some creepy vibes and a sweet little romance, now I can‘t wait to get my hands on the second book! Not my typical YA read but wow I may have to look for more like this one!

So anytime I am reading this book on my kindle this little guy pops up in the corner of my screen whenever I turn a page.
Is this normal? If not kindle is sure trying to bring out the creep factor in this book 😏 Stalker octopus 🐙 vibes maybe 🤔

I think I went in with expectations exceedingly high. I had heard great things abt the author and don‘t get me wrong, there‘s something kinda wonderful abt this book, I did enjoy the style. The plot itself kinda dragged a bit. I wish the pace was tighter, or maybe the book was shorter. I very nearly bailed, and felt that the first 2/3 were underwhelming. Glad I finished it tho! I will read more of her stuff, but prob won‘t return to this one
Not my usual choice but this is a fantastic atmospheric gothic retelling of the Grimm fairy tale The Twelve Dancing Princesses.
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤This book has it all, atmosphere, gothic vibes, retelling fairy tale, horror and page turning action. I can‘t recommend this YA book enough. However, I would recommend to older kids, since the horror and death elements are pretty vivid.
12 sisters. Three dead. The island whispers it‘s a curse, & Annaleigh is desperate to protect her family. And then they find a door to a mysterious ball, and the mysteries keep on coming.
This was very interesting! The horror was very well done, and the spooky atmosphere kept me shivering. Annaleigh was a complex character. But there were a lot of loose threads, & not enough foreshadowing for an ending that felt abrupt & unresolved. 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑
Today, I‘m sharing a book I ordered online from Books A Million on December 27, 2022. I‘ve never shopped with BAM before. I received this book in the mail yesterday. It has a beautiful front and back cover and beautiful artwork inside. I‘ve never read this book so I don‘t know if it has mermaids in it or not but the book cover is making me think that. I like mermaids.
This one was a soft pick for me. It started strong. Love the concept and characters, especially the narrator. However, the ending felt a little scrambled to me, and for a little more gruesome than I anticipated. Still, it was a solid read and I will definitely pick up the sequel due to be published this summer!! Great #LMPBC pick, and one that has been on my TBR for years!!

Hey @persephone1408 I received this one in the mail yesterday at the same time that I was sending Raising the Horseman to @ozma.of.oz - it should be there on a few days!! #LMPBC
@mrsmarch
@Endowarrior21 @TheAromaofBooks your books are on the way. 🎄🎅 merry Christmas. I absolutely loved the tagged book. Great pick @mrsmarch
I have to write my little closing notes but then this is ready to mail to @persephone1408 ! It was a good retelling, Gothic, mysterious, and exciting! #lmpbc
Bookspin and double spin done, time for #LMPBC!
Was this book written by Steven King‘s next door neighbor‘s 15 year old daughter? Haha. They had me in the beginning though. Not my favorite book this year.
I liked this even more than Erin Craig's other book, Small Favors. A spooky, gothic, fantastically creepy fairytale retelling. Erin Craig is masterful at writing subtle, small details that are just so creepy and cause the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up. Perfect read for this time of year.
Started this book last night. I'm enjoying it so far. I read Small Favors earlier in the year and enjoyed it, so I thought I'd read the author's other book. A creepy retelling of the twelve dancing princesses sounds perfect for this time of year.
this is THE book.
it's the first fantasy book I read and it was absolutely wonderful.
this story is a retelling of "12 dancing princesses" and it's amazing how Erin had described everything in every single detail in a fantastic way.
honestly I was #teamfisher in the first half of the book, but when Cassius began to appear more often I completely changed my mind... so... #teamcassius4life

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.5/5)
“House of Salt and Sorrows” is a creepy and dark retelling of the “12 Dancing Princesses” set in a world that I found intriguing. There was a lot of death in this book, and the mystery within it was fast-paced. The romance was cute, but it was very insta-love for my taste. I wish the epilogue had more to it as there were questions left unanswered and this story definitely would have benefited with a book map.
A darker, more sinister, retelling of The Twelve Dancing Princess. All set by the sea 🌊 #fantasy #retellings #YA #youngadult #horror #mystery #romance #fiction #YAfantasy #fairytales #audiobook
Well that was mildly traumatizing. I like how I totally knew who the antagonist was by like chapter 2 but was actually coerced into believing I was wrong until the very end. What the actual hell.
I thought this was an excellent reimagining of The Twelve Dancing Princesses. It was atmospheric and has a gothic, watery setting, which I love.

A book you‘d recommend whose title starts with the featured letter.
“Nights like this were meant to be shared, remembered, and talked about for years. Skies like this were meant to be kissed under.”

Apparently, this is a retelling of a fairy tale called “The Twelve Dancing Princesses” which I have never read, so I can‘t comment on how the story compares to the source material. This is a pretty entertaining mix of suspense, romance, with a dash of creepiness thrown in.
Hard to put down! Full of mystery and magic and downright creepy sometimes, this is a satisfying read. Annaleigh is trying to figure out why there are so many deaths in her family and is convinced at least one is a murder.

1. Here we are! It's little and it has no place for all of my books, but I like it 😂
2. Mmh... A little life by Hanya Yanagihara
3. It's from 2021 that I'm trying to read the tagged one, but I'm struggling a lot 😅😅

This book was a wild time, and not in a good way. An author has to know when there are too many plot points in a book and I‘m sorry, but a Twelve Dancing Princesses murder mystery retelling set in a newly created fictional world with many murders and ghosts as well as new gods and a (maybe) love triangle with a Monday‘s Not Coming styled semi-twist at the end is too much. Way too much. 2.75⭐️
It took me a couple chapters to get into, but after that I was hooked and finished the book pretty quickly. Author does an awesome job depicting scenery and it felt like I was watching it as a movie in my head. I would recommend this read to anyone who loves dark fairy tales, mythology, and storyline with a slow burn romance laced throughout. 4.5/5 Stars. I loved it!
Just starting House of Salt and Sorrows. I picked it up because of the cover art and, after peeping reviews, have found out it's supposed to be a retell to Grimm's fairy tale of The Twelve Dancing Princesses.

Thanks for hosting @MaleficentBookDragon
Loved the atmosphere and the almost gothic quality to the book. The sisters‘ relationship was sweet. The romance was lackluster and the mystery, not very mysterious.

1. Twelve Dancing Princesses (which is why I really need to pick up the tagged book soon).
2. Once upon a time I was a little girl who lived in the library of my favorite books and was just curious about the fact that she died when she was just about to start to spiral into the world.
🤔😳😬
Loved the sisterly relationships and the atmosphere, didn't enjoy the instalove between Annaleigh and Cassius or the occasional purple prose. #yafantasy
Holy moly! I absolutely loved this book. It was full of twists and turns, romance, mystery, and thrills. I loved the slight fantasy element, it had me wondering what was real and imagined. The author did an amazing job keeping my attention the whole time. The ending had me holding my breath. A great read to end July with. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
