Here. Is. My. March. #TBR
#DeepExhale do I feel better for having put it out there? Not sure yet. Will this be the year I finally tackle Ulysses? Only time will tell lol. Last month I didn't leave myself any FREE spaces, which was a mistake so this month I'm leaving extra!
Thanks @TheAromaofBooks for the motivational challenges! Really loving your #BookChain2024 by the way! #Bookspin #Doublespin #BookspinBingo

#scarathlon reading plans out the window as soon as I came across The Queen of the Damned on tv. I just couldn‘t turn it off. Definitely calling for a reread!

Last year I realized that I am not a fan of pumpkin and to stop fighting it so this year I'm really leaning into the apples lol.
And my embargo on Michael's is gonna be tough but do I really NEED another Dracula nutcracker?

After much consideration, here are the shows and movies I'm pretty sure to watch over October, even though I'll try to limit my watch time for the sake of getting through a chunk of my TBR. I 🖤 my classic horror films for Halloween!

ATTENTION READERS!
Sign-ups for #Scarathlon are still open! If you're still on the fence or haven't heard of it yet (somehow), this is a no-pressure, super-fun, month-long readathon for October. The teams are smaller with a bunch of your fave littens hosting this year.

My tentative #Bookspin Bingo #Scarathlon TBR. Anyone else have trouble putting a list together? I have a feeling it's definitely going to change as the month goes on...

Fantastic rec @TheBookHippie!
This was just so sweet and heartwarming. Great characters and feel-good pretty much all the way through!
It made me sad that I was too young and involved in trying to know myself to really get to know my grandmother as a person beyond the wonderful, caring matriarch I remember so fondly.
My heart broke at the epilogue. Now I have to pick up a copy for my mom and sister to read.
#Scarathlon #BlackCatCrew Pleased to meet you!
1. Once upon a time... before Litsy... I used to be very picky about what I read. Also I have trouble DNF'ing even when I know it's not the end of the world.
2. Paranormal & historical fiction
3. Fall/Winter
4. I'd really like to
5. Canada🇨🇦
6. Dog mom, favourite auntie, baker. Turned the magic 42 this summer and no one here understood lol 👍𝟒𝟐🛸
So this happened 👆👆about a month later than expected but you can't control the slump so...
This book was a solid pick but definitely not a contender for best of the month.
Susan just can't seem to pick up and lead a “normal“ life since having fallen in with the Boooksellers and discovering her heritage as a half-mortal child of an Ancient god.
I didn't expect much from this sequel but it was cute, interesting, fast-paced and funny. Quite YA.
QUESTION: Is there a limit to how far up the bracket a reread should go?
I don‘t reread often (or ever) but I‘m so glad I did. I got so much more out of Ninth House the second time around and now I‘m freshly caught up for the sequel.
#2023ReadingBracket @chasjjlee
Death is both an end and a transition. Simultaneously a crossing over and the guide on that journey... Death is able to be every one of these and more -- all at once without conflict or contradiction -- because death is the end of all conflicts, is beyond contradictions. Both nothing and everything.
The only thing Death has never been is lonely.
Bryan Camp's writing is prose. This is an excerpt of the 1st paragraph. I read it a dozen times.
My September 2023 #Bookspinbingo board 🌸🍁📚💖
Thanks to @TheAromaofBooks for hosting and more!
I got a lot off my board last month but couldn't swing a bingo. Maybe this time!
Have a great month everyone!!
I have had *I am the Walrus* stuck in my head since starting the tagged book!
I really hope that we get to meet this mysterious character!
Can't imagine how much wackier this story can get though lol.

My August #BookspinBingo board 😍
At least 4 on tap for #AAM Salmon Rushdie
A few to finish up that are already in progress
If all goes well I should complete my Goodreads 2023 Reading Challenge this month!
HERE WE GO! Been weirdly waiting for August all year. Note the bookmark in The Enchantress of Florence… 3rd time‘s the charm?
#AAM #Rushdie @Soubhiville
Haven't done one of these in a couple of months. Too hard to plan! But I'm gonna be honest: I've been looking forward to Salman Rushdie as #AAM all year and expect to read mostly him this month. So many of his works I've put off reading, including the tagged. I've started it a few times but didn't feel like I could give it the attention it required at the time. Wish me luck! 🤞🤞
#Bookspin #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks @Soubhiville
This story was so masterfully written it's hard to believe that it's the author's first novel. I hardly have anything to compare it to. Chandrasekera created an entire world rich in cultural lore, politics, religious ideologies and all in under 400 pages. The writing style is immersive, bright, rich, textured. It was like getting swallowed into another world and just leaving everything else behind. Read this if you enjoy Bardugo, Jemisin, Schwab.
“What happens when the walls we raise outlive the dangers they were built to keep out? At what point does a fort become a cage?“
I really enjoyed this story. It's kind of a Baba Yaga origin story, as discovered by her descendants after they inherit her infamous cabin on chicken feet. I personally connected with the historic theme of displaced jews in Russia. It really added depth and humanity to the Yaga history.

So umm normally I‘d post a photo of my latest #bookhaul but I just can‘t get over the fact that one of my orders was replaced with the tagged book.
Feeling seen/slightly offended/a little weepy. #howdidtheyknow
@TheAromaofBooks' March #Bookspin numbers are drawn! I'm excited about my picks and I have a great feeling about this month's board. Time to get reading!
My February #Bookspinbingo Wrap-up is serving 80's vibes 💖!
I did mainly impulse reading this month but finally completed Cloud Cuckoo Land (3rd time's the charm). Sadly having a really tough time getting into Angels of Music, even though it's so creative and fun, I keep getting tossed down rabbit holes looking up all of Kim's characters and art references.

Lol
So only a few pages in but picture The Phantom of the Opera meets Charlie‘s Angels. #Bookspin
FEELING SPRINGY. We didn't end up getting the 20cm of snow we were expecting and now the sun is out in full force ☀️
My #Bookspin list for March looking a lot like the one from February... 😒 I was a very impulsive reader last month!
Picked up a few books that have been making the rounds on Litsy lately and I'm gonna tie up 2 series for #serieslove2023.
@TheAromaofBooks
@TheSpineView @Andrew65
I know there are still a few days left in February but after finishing the tagged book I am declaring FEBRUARY OVER! 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Special thanks to @patchshank for bringing it to my attention during #NYWD2021 and to @monalyisha for setting us up.

You‘re a full time clerk in a rundown gas station at the edge of town. You‘re a recluse and an avid reader with presumably a wild imagination and failing memory. So, when your shrink wants you to ⬇️
@mitch I wanted to join in on the fun too so I listened to the audio of February's #goldenagecrimeclub. Sayers was a new-to-me author and I quite enjoyed this though I found it a bit confusing and might have done better to read it. It also felt like a good 20% of the book was the murdered explaining how he would have gotten away with it if it weren't for that meddling Lord Wimsey and co lol. But still good 3.75⭐️
Went into this totally blind, solely based on the hype and it did not disappoint. Not my usual genre... while there is an underlying element of mystery to it, this story is pure drama. In fact it's dripping with so much drama and glamour and secrecy that I almost forgot the big question that had been hanging in the background. I listened to the audiobook and it was a spectacular production, just brought everything to life! Highly recommend. #AAM
Pleasantly surprised. I found this richly atmospheric especially for such a short story. Haunting and unsettling. Like a vivid dream vaguely remembered the following morning.

#52BookClub2023 Starts with G
Ever start reading a book and it's loaded with so many hot words, popular themes that it feels like it was written by AI? Admittedly it had me laughing quite a bit at times as it‘s full of sarcasm, cursing and cheap pot shots. What can I say, I'm a girl of simple tastes lol. But seriously, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that no actual humans were involved in writing this.
Book #13 3.5⭐️ Soft pick. Don't know if I'll read the next.
Funny. The tagged is the book that would have given me a bingo last month if I'd have altered my priorities.
#Bookspin #Doublespin
It's time for my very first #Readingbracket! I always think hey, that's a fantastic idea! In December. When I can no longer remember anything.
Thank you to @chasjjlee for the great graphic this year!
I got lucky with many fantastic reads this month but the tagged really stood out and I need to spread the word.
Runner up also with 5⭐️ is The Vanishing Type, 5th book of the Secret, Book & Scone Society. My favourite of the series hands down!
Just starting this one as a light in-between read to top off January. I‘m only on page 2 But seriously what have I gotten myself into?! A‘s algorithm is pushing this book quite a bit. Anyone else jump on this bandwagon? It‘s going to be a wild ride!
“Goodbye, Kip. May we never have to speak again.” “You weird lookin‘ bastard, I hope you s&@! bricks!” came Kip‘s angry response at the fellow‘s back.
Now THIS is a well done dystopian. Mysterious, adventurous, magical. Things are happening. No one understands why but people have lost their shadows and with them their memories. This novel is loaded with action, emotion as the characters try to navigate the new landscape in the hope that there is a cure out there. All they have are snippets of gossip to keep them going amidst the fear that they could become shadowless at any point ⬇️
This was a great listen. Read by the author, it explores the history of his own book lust, his time working in and frequenting various bookshops in the Bay Area. He packs in a ton of history about book selling, book binding, early writing to publishing, libraries, renowned sellers and the future of reading and books themselves. I particularly enjoyed that with later releases he includes (2 in this edition) updates on the state of the trade. 4⭐️
This is where we parts ways. The story MAY be picking up but probably not. Every few chapters they drop a hint of something mildly interesting to keep you going but it‘s just not enough for me. I do kind of want to know how it ends but I‘m sure I‘ll get over that fast. #sorrynotsorry #authoramonth
January resolutions for #20in4
Read (finish) the tagged for #authoramonth. It started off interesting enough but the current chapter's not sitting well.
Finish my #Doublespin The Book of M by Peng Shepard
Finish the Yellow-Lighted Bookshop by Lewis Buzbee
I'm declaring it a snowed-in weekend so I think the above is all doable!🤞🤞
Locking down my #Bookspin list for February!
Feeling like tucking in to some epic fiction so I've got a few (near)Chunksters on here and will probably not Bingo this month.
Fun Fact: I've had my copy of The Witching Hour since I pinched it from my mum in high school and have yet to finish it. We're talking 20(ish) years. I think this year's gonna be the one!
@TheAromaofBooks pick me some good numbers please!!
New to me author. I looked up Erdrich as part of #AAM and it was really difficult to select a couple from her vest catalogue. It was pretty difficult getting back into reading reality after so long in fantasy land but I really enjoyed the tagged book.
Told from the POV of several people, the author explores the bonds between strangers and family in a small community in North Dakota over several generations. There‘s a LOT packed in here!
Not the best. Seen this one making the rounds a bit lately and the premise sounded cute so I figured why not? The best part about it was that I actually co pelted a book in French! I found it just too jr. and how can it be that under 200 pages it still felt like there was a lot of filler… 3.25 ⭐️

Here are my goals for #OutstandingOctober readathon! Starting with the tagged cozy paranormal mystery. Super fast-paced, not too annoyingly cutesy so far.
In the middle of The Nature of Witches for #SundayBuddyRead but I think I'm going to have to go ahead and finish early cuz it's just so good!
