Family Roundabout | Richmal Crompton

This story of two mothers and their families held me captivated. I felt for Mrs. Fowler, and I came to care for Mrs. Willoughby, too. The last chapter was exactly the ending I needed. I can see myself picking this one again in another year or two. Classic Persephone!

This was my February #BookSpin pick.

Caryl The title was perfect — the life of a parent of adult children is like being on (or witnessing your kids on) a chaotic “roundabout” sometimes, where you have little control except to be there to cheer, wave, whatever they need when they pass you by each time. 6h
LeahBergen I thoroughly enjoyed this one, too (and just reminded myself that I need to read more Crompton!). 3h

Delilah and Anthony shared a steamy kiss last Christmas, then things got suddenly frosty. This year, they‘re roped into the town‘s Christmas festivities, and they have no choice but to face the miscommunication that happened prior. A sweet romance with a bit of spice!

While still good, the 3rd book in The Lost Queen Series, I didn't find as good as the first two. The Shadowed Land took us on a journey with Angharad, as she continues to develop as a Wisdom Keeper, and Artur, who follows in his father's footsteps. Languoreth and Lailoken still are prominent in the book. This one wasn't as long as the other two, either. I reread the first two books, since it had been a few years since I read them, before I ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read ⬆️ read this one. Now, I have to wait until the Fall of 2027 for the next book. Of course, I will have to reread the 3 before it, before I read it, which is okay since I love this series.

When reading this series, you can tell Pike put in a lot of hardwork and a lot of time doing research. She gives you a chance to travel back to 540 to 584 Scotland. My TBR grew also, because she listed some books in her note I would like to read concerning Artur.

😊 Happy Reading 😊

"..where one burns books, one will soon burn people."

Historical Fiction set during the 1930s and 1940's in France, Germany and the USA. Told from 3 different perspectives and timeliness.

Vivian is trying to get a bill stopped that Sen.Taft has filed in Congress for censorship. Althea is a young American writer asked to come to Germany in 1933 by Joesph Goebbels. She accepts not really knowing what she is about to get in. ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read Hannah, a Jew in Germany, befriends Althea. Through this story, you witness their lives intertwining.

I love Historical Fiction because I always learn something. For instance, I didn't know that Taft had a bill to censor what books could be read by our military in WWII. The Armed Service Editions (ASE) sent books for soilders to read while they were overseas. A lot of the soilders ended up having a life long love of reading because of the ASE. There was one topic I didn't care for in the book, which brought down my rating. 4⭐️

Five interconnected short stories in which different people in different stages of life find their way to a small library located in a community center, and all connect with a book that inspires change. Lots of feel-good vibes!

I'm definitely looking forward to reading my #BookSpin, but with the way my life has been going lately, I'm not sure about my #DoubleSpin, The Darkest Night. I've already finished the first book on my December list, Enid Blyton's Christmas Stories, and I'm hoping to get at least one #BookSpinBingo this month, even if I don't manage to finish both books.

4.5 ⭐️

Oh my, what a book! You meet someone at a therapy session, and you decide to kill each other's person that won't face justice for what they did. This is the premise of 'Kill For Me, Kill For You.' This book will grab you at the beginning. It is so good. I did figure one thing out at about 70% through it. But was shocked at the last chapter!

😊 Happy Reading 😊

What an exciting political thriller!

The best part of the book were the characters. I loved the two main characters, Kostas and Jessica. Sometimes in thrillers characters can take a backseat to the action of the story, but not here. They were well developed and I loved their bond.

The story was well crafted. It was fast paced and had short chapters.
