Time To Go House | Walter D. Edmonds
post image
Pickpick

My mom got this as a library discard when I was a kid, and I always loved it growing up. Smalleata is a mouse whose clan moves into the human house across the field when winter comes (and the people leave for the season). There, she falls in love with a house mouse. Lots of adventures, but it's actually pretty intense for a children's book, as some of the mice get eaten! I really enjoyed this reread and still find this a delightful book. And it ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) may help explain my reluctance to set mousetraps 😂

Suet624 I was thinking I should find it for one of my grandkids but then .... mice get eaten!!

TheAromaofBooks @Suet624 - It's intense but not graphic. Kind of along the lines of the original Bambi book. One mouse gets eaten because he is willing to sacrifice himself to help the others get away. And a rat gets hunted down by weasels in what is probably the scariest scene of the book. I loved this book when I was 12ish, but it's a book I would read first before handing to a younger reader to make it's not too intense. 36m

Okay, this was super addictive and I tore through the whole thing today. I agree with those who say Alex is toxic and a walking red flag - but I still rooted for him, even though I don‘t think I am supposed to. In that way, he reminded me of Joe Goldberg from You. 🤪
But I did like him and Ava together and how they helped each other with some pretty dark stuff. And the spice was off the charts! 🌶️

36 y/o Adele is engaged to the man of her dreams, but when her ex boyfriends start dying (in the order that she dated them), she wonders if her fiance is the murderer. Decent thriller and kept my interest throughout!

It‘s Ali Hazelwood. So, cute romcom stories about grumpy, handsome and very tall men and cute, tiny women. Everyone is smart and there‘s at least one word I can‘t pronounce. But they are fun, and even if they are similar to each other, they are different enough from other books that I‘ll keep reading them. #doublespin #bookspinbingo

A couple of days late on my mid-month #bookspinbingo check in, but it's been a weird month (year?), and better late than never. Not reading as much as I'd like but still more than I anticipated, and I completed my #bookspin & #doublespin picks, so there's that

I am very lukewarm about this. I can't quite call it a pick; I read it all with mild enjoyment, but very mild. I remember liking Garth Nix's work more than this in the past, but... not this, apparently.

Continuing to now avoid a #BookSpinBingo as much as possible, I'm now reading The Tomb of Dragons, and then A Pirate's Life for Tea! Although my wife has badly sprained (possibly broken) their ankle, so... I may be quite busy in the days to come.

Susanita Ouch. I hope your wife feels better soon. 2d
shanaqui @Susanita Thank you! They're off to get an x-ray now, so here's hoping it's the best-case news... 1d

Final #roll100 read for Feb and also scored a line in #bookspinbingo recovering from surgery and not being able to do anything has its advantages as gives me lots of reading time!

Really enjoyed this, loved the prose, and there were a couple of twists that I did not see coming. Really interesting subject too.

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!!! Hope you are on the mend!! 2d

I finally made my February #BookSpinBingo board!

And, for the first time ever, I had a bingo on my board. January turned out to be a good reading month for me.
