January 2025 Book #7
My experience with short story collection is that like/enjoy some stories more than others just like this collection. Some of stories were so beautifully written, others in my humble opinion, were like beautiful expressions but didn‘t feel like a short story for me. 3.5⭐️

January 2025 Book#6
I think the opening of this story was amazing but then it was like forgotten, not well connected with the rest of the story. I liked the characters and the mystery/horror that was hidden in these mountains that seem possessed Nick. But then, the story was dragged to explain all this possession which concluded with an ambiguous open ending. I think the idea was terrific but maybe needed some editing? 3⭐️

Gissy I have another book by this author, let‘s see if I like it. 2h

Texreader I thought about reading this book for #Netherlands but I‘m not into horror anymore. Looks like I made a good choice not to read it. I think I would have been disappointed too. 2h

January 2025 Book#5
Hard to believe that book with that cover would have many triggers: physical/sexual abuse. London XlX, family try to survive their extreme poverty environment with an abuse, alcoholic father who try to sell his daughter. Sylvia try to escape this world, try to find true love. My opinion is that story try to romanticize John‘s behavior who could be seen as a controlling person to justify his love for Sylvia? Abrupt happy ending?

This was a fun heist story!

The premise is basically Crazy Rich Asians meets Ocean‘s Eight, which I loved. The plot is essentially a mashup of the two. I thought the story was super entertaining and amusing. I wasn‘t shocked at any of the twists and turns at the end because it was slightly reminiscent of Ocean‘s Eight‘s heist.

January 2025 Book #4
Book 2 in A Year Round Christmas Mysteries series. Read for #CBBC 2025 @Mommamanzi
I liked this book 2 better that the first one. Also predictable but we see more drama, town gossip with funny scenes, expected in cozy mysteries☺️I think I will try book 3⭐️

Finally finished January's #FurrowedMiddlebrowClub selection. The story was cleverly constructed but I found the huge portion of the book that was Aunt Addie's novel really dragged.

I just didn't like this book that much, which isn't a popular opinion. It looked at a murder 200 years ago. Dawson wrote about the murder, Williams ( the author of the first book about the murder),and Hawthorne ( how he based the Scarlett Letter off of the victim). It just seemed to me that way too much stuff was going on in the book. It could have been just me, as others liked the book. 2⭐️

I listened to this one while I‘m also reading an ARC by Center. They are hitting the reading spot for me right now. As it says in the book, you know where the book is going but it‘s how you get there that‘s all the fun. This had several scenes where I laughed out loud. Very entertaining.

Grief & pain led Evie to leave her life as a physical therapist & move to a wonderful small town. Tragedy & a persistent family led her to return to PT temporarily.
This one was emotional, funny, sad & heartwarming. The characters (primary & secondary) are really well developed & the town deals with real problems & issues.
