Dolly Parton is an icon. Her life is literally a rags to riches story. I knew some about Parton but learned a lot. She is a woman that has shared her wealth for the good of her family and others. She is a musician, songwriter, movie star, philanthropist, and a business woman. I think one of the best things Parton has done is her Imagination Library, where she sends a book to every child, from birth to 5 years old, to help with⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read illiteracy.

Ackmann researched the book well. She went from Parton's birth in East Tennessee to the loss of her husband in March of 2025. If you are a fan of Dolly Parton, I recommend you read 'Ain't Nobody‘s Fool.'

Tentative Publication: December 30, 2025

Thanks to Netgalley, St. Martin's Press, and Martha Ackmann for the E-ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I held out as long as I could and went ahead and finished this today while I was doing the last of the holiday errands and wrapping. Loved it! I would really like to see an adaptation! This is loosely based on A Christmas Carol, one of my all-time faves, so I had a feeling I would like it.

My list was carefully planned to meet my reading goals, and I could technically complete it in the remaining time, but it's tight... and I'm in a mood reading moment.

I kinda still want to get a #BookSpinBingo blackout and complete #10BeforeTheEnd, but at the same time, a couple of new books are calling to me, and I don't think I can read those and manage the lists.

In the end I should go with my whim and not make reading a chore.

I love this series, and it's getting really interesting. I love how all the characters have evolved from the start of the series. I love how Stone keeps me interested through the book, and how she leaves me hanging for the next book. I highly, highly recommend this series, if you like FBI, Serial Killer, or Suspense books.

😊 Happy Reading 😊

The Typewriter and the Guillotine tells the story of two people in France and Germany during the 1930s to 1940s. Janet Flanner, a reporter for the NewYorker, living in Paris and Eugen Weidmann, a German man.

While I found the book interesting, I enjoyed the parts about Weidmann more than the ones about Flanner. The parts about Weidmann seemed, to me, more interesting than the parts about Flanner. Flanner's parts of the book ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read of the book seemed to drag in a lot of places. I could tell that Braude did a lot of research for the book.
Overall, the book was interesting, but it lacked something.

Thanks to Tor Audio and Libro.fm for the ALC of this book.

This book has the makings of a great story: a complicated protagonist, action, adventure, a historical setting. But, I cannot get into it. The protagonist is too complicated. The action is flat. The adventure is forced. The historical setting is blah. It reminds me of the Barker and Llewelyn books, but without the heart. #bookspinbingo

Fun read! A different kind of holiday novel but it really worked. I enjoyed the world that the author built, with each holiday having a royal family. Coal, the prince of Christmas is basically a screw up, and he is pitted against Hex, the Halloween prince, in a fake competition for the hand of the princess of Easter. When Coal finds out the reason for the ruse, he sets out to fix it, and falls for Hex in the process.
