Pickpick

Mullaby is a town with secrets and regrets. It pushes people away and pulls them back. When Dulcie's daughter Emily arrives in Mullaby looking to understand where she came from, she tries to piece together the mysteries of the town.

Sarah Addison Allen is one of my favorite authors!

The Weird Sisters | Eleanor Brown

I really liked this story of three Sisters, who were named for Shakespeare characters, and grew up quoting Shakespeare, as their dad is a professor of Shakespeare. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to keep reading it, since their mom is fighting breast cancer, but her cancer journey was so eloquently written about and the experiences were described so correctly, that it felt like a hug of acknowledgement and support throughout the story.

When former actress Cryptessa is killed with the stake of the "Do Not Tresspass" sign from her yard through her heart, one of her neighbors is a suspect. But, all of them had recent arguments with Cryptessa, so it could have been any of them.

This has been my absolute favorite book of this series so far! It was a very Agatha Christiesque whodunit mystery with our favorite characters Georgiana, Darcy, Belinda, and Queenie.

This is Lucy Grealy's beautifully written memoir about being diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma as a child and the innumerable chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, and other treatments she endured growing up and into adulthood. It is a very sad story about the terrible hardships she endured, but the way she writes makes you want to keep reading.

This was not very well written, with pretty much only surface information about David Bowie and his songs, and not very well illustrated. I had expected more from this book, but it definitely didn't deliver.

There was a lot of really interesting information in this book, but there was also a lot of it that felt like it was just droning on.

CoffeeNBooks @rubyslippersreads I always feel bad when I don't like a book or author that other people seem to really like, so I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't love this author! 😁 2mo

Pickpick

Delphie chokes on a bite of hamburger and ends up in the Afterlife. Jonah arrives in the Afterlife at the same time, and as soon as they meet it seems as though they're soulmates. Delphie's Afterlife therapist Merritt realizes that Jonah is only a "visitor" to the Afterlife, though, and isn't actually meant to die.
Continued ⬇️

CoffeeNBooks So she lets Delphie return to the land of the living with strict instructions that she must find Jonah within 10 days and he has to kiss her in order for her to be able to stay. Otherwise, she'll have to return to the Afterlife.
