Mehso-so

This is a 12 Dancing Princesses retelling that I paired with the original fairy tale for #childrensclassicread2025. It didn't quite live up to my expectations. The first part of the story felt like a different book than the second half. I did enjoy some of the world building, and the horror sequences were done well. The story just needed to be a little more cohesive.

TheBookHippie Oh interesting! I had not heard of this one!!! 5h

Great reading month for January! I finished 19 books total & read almost all I set out to. I think weekly plane rides & trying to avoid media upped my reading time. Finished all 3 #Roll100 books, 3 from my #AuldLangSpine list from @JacqMac + #AuthorAMonth #SundayBuddyRead #ChildrensClassicRead2025 #NancyDrewBR #BobWhiteBuddies #FoodandLit #ChloeGongReadalong #ThematicCozies #FictionalTraveler #Naturalitsy #MidWinterSolace #JaneAustenThenAndNow ⬇️

DebinHawaii … & #SeriesLove2025 & also had some library books sneak their way in. I enjoyed most everything I read (although I got a little heavy with Nazis/Fascists books for a month of political horror that was depressing but some lighter books pulled me out). Top 3 Favorites were Bad Cree, Lula Dean‘s Little Library of Banned Books & The Night Guest. (edited) 1d

#childrensclassicread2025

First time reading this fairy tale. I didn‘t get to Grimms original tale but I read these two, the tagged one the better of the two as it felt more in the spirit of a Grimms tale. I enjoyed the illustrations more in the non tagged book but the tale was very simplistic and more cutesy.

TheBookHippie Oh fun!!! 2d

Finished this novella, a retelling of the 12 Dancing Princesses. It was a fun take on the Grimms fairytale. I feel the writing was probably not the best, but I had fun reading it as part of #ChildrensClassicRead2025
She also has written retellings of sleeping beauty and beauty and the beast.

Read for #ChildrensClassicRead2025
I enjoyed the artwork in this version of the classic fairy tale. I went back & read the Grimm‘s version online to see the gentling down in the modern versions (like princes being banished rather than beheaded for not discovering the mystery). A quick & nostalgic read. 💛

InkedBookworm13 Have you read House of Salt and Sorrow? It's an amazing retelling of this story. 1w
DebinHawaii @InkedBookworm13 It‘s in my TBR! Maybe I need to move it up & finally read it. Thanks for the recommendation! 🤗 1w
tpixie @InkedBookworm13 @DebinHawaii Oh! I thought I was done reading my versions! I forgot about the original Grimms & this also looks good! 😅🤪😍 4d

Yesterday‘s library #BookHaul
-Rest is Resistance for #SheSaid
-Here One Moment #AuldLangSpine
-White Stallion of Lipizza for #ChildrensClassicRead2025
-Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective for #EBBR
-How to Summon a Fairy Godmother for a #Roll100 prompt (maybe)
I grabbed the tagged book from an #ARC stack as it seems timely.😵‍💫

The book🐔🐔are pleased except that my library didn‘t have the next Nancy Drew for #NancyDrewBR & we‘re all annoyed.😉

Ruthiella Fantastic! 😄 1w
Texreader Love the chickens!! 1w
Librarybelle Good library haul but oh no about the next Nancy Drew! 1w

DebinHawaii @Librarybelle I just have to get it transferred from another branch & that takes longer. It‘s just weird that they don‘t have all of them in a branch but I guess they go missing & they don‘t replace them or something. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 1w
Librarybelle That could very well be…when I worked in public libraries, that would be the reason. At least you can get it! 1w
mom2bugnbee Those chickens! ♥️ 1w
Sace @DebinHawaii I have the same issue with The No 1 Ladies Detective series. All the books in the series are scattered among different branches. 5d

I‘m finishing up my last 12 Dancing Princesses book for the month of January for #ChildrensClassicRead2025
This is a fun novella retelling.
She‘s also written a Sleeping Beauty retelling and in August, a Beauty and the Beast retailing will be published.

TheBookHippie Oh I‘m going to look this up! Fun! I have had fun with this story!! 1w
tpixie @TheBookHippie I‘m reading it on hoopla - it‘s about 140 pages. I did edit my post and put the link to her website. If you subscribe to her newsletter, you can get it for free. 1w
TheBookHippie @tpixie OH yay!!! And I love Hoopla. Sounds like a nice edition to my tea this afternoon! 1w
tpixie @TheBookHippie I love Hoopla- I had to drive to a library about 1.5 hours away to get access to Hoopla, since my Library just has Cloud Library. I‘ve got three other library cards from 3 other cities in Kansas for Libby. Trying to save some $$$. Happy Reading 📖 🍵 1w
