This was a slow burn for me and I never really got into it, even though I loved the woman Edith has become and admire the girl she was when supporting her sister when she gave birth to a baby. Such an interesting plot and I loved the Irish setting. It‘s really a good book. And yet. It‘s me. A light pick.

Jas16 I have this one my shelves and have been eagerly waiting for the right moment to crack it open. Might lower my expectations a bit now. 8h
CBee Her books seem to be very slow burn-ish. I never finished Summerwater because at that moment in my life I just needed her to speed it up 😂😂 8h
Ruthiella You always take such interesting photos! 🤩 3h

#Read100

My first finished book of September, I finished this one for #FictionalTraveler #September #EnglishSpeaking & September #Roll100 #77 #AnyBOTM Overall, I enjoyed this one, although it drug in parts. The unique premise of an unmarried British woman who comes home after her friend‘s hen party to find she‘s married & her attic keeps “replacing” husbands with no end in site. Lauren made some choices I judged & thought over-the-top but ⬇️

DebinHawaii … then again, I don‘t have a husband-making attic so what do I know!🤷🏻‍♀️ Probably a 3.5 for me but it was fun & it is a debut so got me closer to finishing my #BOTM challenge. (edited) 7d

Also done #FictionalTraveler already! September is English-Speaking and I read a greatly-updated graphic re-imagining of the Huckleberry Finn story. It's excellent. @julieclair

julieclair Love the title! 1w

#Read2025

Finished in August & read this #BOTM novel for #FictionalTraveler August #Hot (it‘s set in a desert compound in the summer).

I am a sucker for reality television drama even though I rarely watch it these days so I quite enjoyed this dystopian version. For a debut novel, it was well done & I liked the elements of reality tv & looking at what is truth versus fiction. It had both dark humor & a few mild thrills & twists thrown in.

DieAReader Fantastic!! 2w
julieclair Sounds like a fun read! 2w

Set in Ireland (and I have a weakness for Irish settings 😂) so this is my pick for September‘s #fictionaltraveler!
