I‘m not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn‘t it. Still, I liked it and was happy to read it at last for #authoramonth after having it on my TBR for a while. Interesting family story with a bit of magical realism.

1. Stripes. I should wear them more I think.
2. I don‘t have any physical books from the library at the moment, but I have the tagged book and a couple others from Libby.
#two4Tuesday on Wednesday
Thanks for the tag
I‘m not feeling especially hygge right now, but I‘m eating spaghetti and reading the tagged book. Meanwhile, I also have the football game on the TV. Those eye searing red uniforms aren‘t very hygge either. #hyggehourreadathon
Now that it‘s November, I can stop deferring my hold on this book and just read it already! I wonder what new (and old) #authors we will read next year? #daysdevotedto
Ready for SUMMER READING! Can‘t wait to dive in to a few beachy, sunny, summery reads out on my back deck! (If they ever put up my awning) First up will be Emily Henry. Summerhouse with Swimming Pool has been on my summer list for years so I have to get to it. Plus a few thrillers because I‘ve been whipping thru them lately. Let‘s go summer! #SummerReading #BookSpinBingo

The story is somewhat predictable and wraps up very easily/neatly. But the story is so magical, sweet and hopeful that those things are forgiven - I loved it. I loved the characters - Eby and George, Wes, Kate and Devin, Lisette and Jack, Bulahdeen and Selma - and Billy and Lost Lake. It was like hot chocolate on a cold winters day!!
#JubilantJuly goal to get #BookSpinBingo this week -
Make a great day everyone 🌞
My grandchildren are here this week - so much fun - it does mean though that when I get a chance to read , nap time and once they are in bed, I am usually too tired and napping and in bed too 😂
Here is my July #BookSpinBingo - thanks for hosting @TheAromaofBooks -
Make a great day everyone 🎆🎇
I loved “Lost Lake” so much, it was an easy pick for my February slot 🥰🐊🏘️
It was not an easy pick between my January and February books though 🫥 I enjoyed “The Mitford Affair” a smidgen bit more, plus the cover is so beautiful (gotta make a decision eventually lol)
Sarah‘s books for me are just like wrapping up in a sweater straight out of the dryer on a rainy day 🥰🥰🥰 Her ability to weave together “found families” with magic is so beautiful that I find myself not wanting to finish her books and say goodbye to her characters. But alas, I do and every time I finish her books I just sit there for a moment and let it all soak in ☺️
This is why I carry my book with me: the “I‘m just gonna run in here quick” errands 😂 I don‘t mind joining my husband in card stores, but sometimes I just don‘t feel like dealing with the weird vibe of being the only woman in the store with him 😂 All good, honey! You take your time 😘🤓📖
#SaturdayBliss Popcorn, glass of wine, a good book AND I just happened to sit down to the start of my favorite episode of The Office (“Dinner Party”) 😂🥳🤩 Laundry can wait for tomorrow lol 🧺
One after another, people find their way to Lost Lake, looking for something that they weren‘t sure they needed in the first place..
Another wonderful book by Sarah Addison Allen. I love how magical her stories are, and how her characters just come to life on the pages. I always recommend her stories to everyone.

After her husband's death, Kate takes her daughter Devin to visit her great-aunt Eby at Lost Lake, a place she enjoyed visiting when she was Devin's age. But when she gets there, she finds out that Eby is getting ready to sell her land and lakeside cottages.
This one was a little predictable, but still a good read.
Today's reading material for my 4th (and final!) chemo treatment.
Thank you so much Misty! I've been wanting to read this book! I love the notepads, notecards, and washi tape! And the chocolate! 😄 Thank you so much for making my birthday even happier!
@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
I'm making this year the year I really tackle my TBR so here's book 1 of the 24 I'm attempting to get through.
This was a page-turner for me that I had to force myself to slow down and be able to see Lost Lake, it's inhabitants, and the ghosts on the water.

Bulahdeen so far is my favorite character.
Sarah Addison Allen novels never disappoint. I didn‘t fall in love with this one the way I did with Garden Spells, but it was still uplifting and a touch otherworldly. It was a surprisingly quick read. I‘m glad this came up as my #bookspin book, and I can‘t wait to read her the rest of her books!
My #bookspin and #doublespin books this month. I‘m super excited about both of these! They‘ve been on my TBR for a while now, and they‘re both books I own physical copies of.
Just starting something new this Friday night! Has anyone else read it?
Magical Realism is a genre I always wanted but I didn't even know existed! I really enjoy the subtle hints of fantasy in an otherwise normal world.
Happy birthday to my husband! 🎂🎉Thanking God for another year in this crazy beautiful world.
Do I ever love magical realism! Sarah Addison Allen is such a purveyor of magic. I‘ll read anything she writes because her character creation and storytelling is so damn good.
I cared about the characters 10 minutes into the book. That‘s magic. (rest of review in comments)
There are some authors you just like, and Addison Allen doesn‘t disappoint. Enjoyed this one on a reread as much as the first time around. I also like the discussion about the endings of books changing on a reread because in your mind the original story continued for you.

Mom‘s #momreviews are back! I‘ve started this one a few times and haven‘t made it far. I‘ll have to try it again since I love this author and I trust Mom.
For US littens who use Amazon Kindle, one of my favorite authors has a book on sale this morning if anyone wants a copy. I snatched one up first thing which totally made my morning!
I‘m behind on the #letstravelaugust challenge so I‘ll try to catch up this weekend!
I recently finished this book. If you like Sarah Addison Allen you will not be disappointed. Lost Lake is a place where you can rent a cabin #lakeside. It also holds a power to bring family together. Sweet story with a healthy dose of magical realism.

The trick to getting through life, she‘d told him, is not to resent it when it isn‘t exactly how you think it should be. -Eby
❤️ this book and this author
From the author of the beloved bestseller Garden Spells comes a beautiful, haunting story of old loves and new, and the power of the connections that bind us forever...
At once atmospheric and enchanting, Lost Lake shows Sarah Addison Allen at her finest, illuminating the secret longings and the everyday magic that wait to be discovered in the unlikeliest of places.

Since @lynnsoprano tagged me... ☺
1️⃣ Magical realism - tagged book is by my fave magical realism author
2️⃣ Classics
3️⃣ Horror (although I think I'm ready to try some Stephen King 😳)
4️⃣ Magical realism
5️⃣ I'm not huge on fantasy other than Harry Potter, but I also enjoyed Miss Peregrine.
6️⃣ I truly haven't read a magical realism book that I didn't like!
This was my first Sarah Addison Allen, and it won't be my last. I loved the characters. More than that, I loved the way the book made me feel - I don't think I can do it justice by trying to describe it, so I won't try. I always love a touch of magical realism in a story - and the magical realism here was woven in perfectly, I think. Going to be hard not to just read another of her books to fill the void left by this one!
