I‘m in a cozy mystery mood. A young Cuban American mother reluctantly moves to the affluent Miami suburbs to be closer to her in laws. And you guessed it - gets tangled in a murder investigation. What I enjoyed was the peak into Cuban American culture and food.

A surprisingly enjoyable thriller/mystery set in a remote resort on the California coast. A high school teacher finds her solo trip on what would have been her 20th wedding anniversary interrupted by murder and disaster. A familiar story but with more depth of character than usual.

This is an enjoyable audiobook but it is true to formula- smart young woman meets deadly psychopath escapes with her life but others usually die - and she runs away and hides in a small town etc… The Witness is still my favourite but I enjoyed Identity. I also listened to Mind Games but the psychic gift element just didn‘t ring true. I snuck in a re-listen of All Systems Red so a busy three weeks. Summer listening 🙌🍧🥂

Finished this cozy mystery set in Thailand, nurse ethicist has a nose for mysteries and along with her boyfriend Detective Wiriya Molokai is looking into disappearing tourists. I loved the setting and the frequent references to Thai food. I got such a craving for coconut cake. I enjoyed the mystery and the characters but I‘m uncomfortable with the fact that the author is American not Thai. 👍❤️ 🐉

Listened to the audiobook on Libby. It was okay. The hook was the private investigators all have surnames associated with fictional characters. This book seemed more like short stories knit together. It was also quite complicated to listen to. I really wanted to love it but it‘s a so-so 💚🐉

I read this book during my lunch breaks at work. This book provides a look back at the past glory of the New York Times food critic. A job so important Ruth Reichl had to invent new persona to allow anonymous restaurant visits. Her chapter on the restaurant at the Twin Towers was poignant knowing what would happen a few years into the future. I really enjoyed this one and there‘s lots of recipes too. 👍👍🐉

This is a very sweet novel set in a small New England town. It‘s kind of a Mayberry setting, people are so community minded and so friendly. Nora runs the diner she inherited from her parents and at 42 is unsurprisingly unhappy with her life. Circumstances change when she and her prodigal sister inherit a substantial property from a relative stranger. But I love this kind of palate cleanser and enjoyed this gentle romance. A sweet escape 👍👍 🐉

This latest entry in the Finlay Donovan cozy mystery series is so fun full of non stop hi-jinks. I‘m not sure I have all the goings on straight. It starts off right where the last book ended. Finlay and Vero are off to Atlantic City ostensibly for a girls weekend. Some how everyone but Finlay‘s dad ends up there. Kevin Bacon makes an appearance sort of. Fast paced with a touch of romance- enjoyable escapism 👍👍💚🐉

Just finished listening to this 2 hour audiobook on Libby . It‘s a prequel to the Finley Donovan cozy mystery series. It‘s fun to meet Vero before she became the nanny for Finley‘s kids. It was maybe a bit too short and not as funny as the longer books. Still enjoyed it but would only recommend it to fans of the series.

This was my lunch read at work for the last few months. I only get to read for about 15-20 minutes. This book is one of those books within a book novels and is unashamedly influenced by the novel Rebecca. In fact that‘s a big plot point. I didn‘t really like the main character and it really wasn‘t that much of a thriller. It was okay as a lunch read but I wouldn‘t recommend it to friends. So-so at best

Libby is great for audiobooks- my hold came in and I was so happy to listen to this sweet historical romance. I borrowed the audiobook from Libby and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nora Roberts has a successful formula- talented male or female overcomes terrible childhood trauma , gets entangled with some villain, must change their identity, meets love of life , confesses all , mess cleaned up - HEA achieved: I am so there for it. One quibble , the fellow who reads the audiobook is not skilled at differentiating female voices . 👍👍🐉
